  1. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I have "total closure" but was moaning about the lack of available options for my RX via the likes of Carista.
  2. A shame there's nothing available for my RX. I assume I'd need Techstream to do anything interesting.
  3. Father and daughter too which I thought was rather nice.
  4. Chuffed is the word. The headlining looks great too. I didn't have a "before" shot so didn't bother with a pic.
  5. They weren't. You'd have thought they knew better 10 years later! And I'm jealous for your cars.
  6. Another little job sorted today. The car being 12 years old there are little scuffs and scrapes that I can live with but one or two I can't. A local car trimmer recommended Pro Systems in Chesterfield for a small rip on the NSR door trim and one or two other bits including a hole about the size of a 5p in the roof lining over the luggage area. Before After All done in about half an hour, they came to me and the best bit 65 quid! Recommended if you're in the Chesterfield/Sheffield area.
  7. No!!!! 😍 I think that method was quietly dropped after it became widely known (thanks to Watchdog) that the interior of every MKIV Golf based VAG vehicle (Golf, A3, Octavia, Leon) could be accessed using the same method but with a flat head screwdriver. Was a bit of a sore point at the time.
  8. I think we have an earlier and more basic version. We have to make do with the little LCD screen in between the CD slot and cassette player.
  9. Phew! Not just me then? It was actually my 10yo that pointed it out. Pretty much the first time he got in it! One of those odd Lexus quirks maybe? Like the trip reset/display thing halfway down the dash and hidden by the steering wheel. Or the Open and Close buttons for the centre cubby. Or the dual control climate indicator that's lit when it's off and off when it's on. On my IS I always liked the button next to the clock that rounded up the time to the nearest hour. Why on earth would you ever want to do that? lol These thoroughly engineered quirks are one of the reasons I like these cars. Sod teutonic efficiency. It's boring. And usually not that efficient. :edit: As if by magic!
  10. Goodness me, that looks nice!
  11. A couple more with the box on. Going to do something about the Volvo badge obviously! It's a re-badged Thule box (and bars) so I've got replacement Thule stickers to go on. Just having a play really. The thing is there's a chance we'll all be going away in the RX in July. We've got an S-Max on order but it seems to be delayed, if the Volvo's already gone then that only leaves the RX While I've got you all, does anyone's passenger seat belt look like this? Compared with the driver's side I ask because with the passenger buckle facing that way you have to twist it to wear it. It's like the whole thing is on backwards. The buckle should be next to the seat not next to the B pillar. Or is it me?
  12. My last two BMWs (2011 E91 320d on 18s & 2013 F30 330d on 19s) both came with run flats. Never had any complaints about them other than replacement cost. If the OP has no problem with them and the sizes are available then why not?
  13. So I got the tyre sorted Friday plus the car got a good scrub. It has obviously been valeted prior to sale but now I've been up close and personal it's clear that it's never been washed from one month to the next. At least these are the jobs I don't mind doing. It had a clay (paint so rough I could hear it), polish and seal. Lovely. As mentioned elsewhere I did take the IS300 out the other night and ignoring all the practical reasons for changing I did wonder if I'd done the right thing. Just a little bit. But then over the last couple of days I've got more used to the RX and it really is an extremely satisfying drive. Hybrid malarky for when you feel like setting yourself a challenge and a lovely V6 throb for when you don't. Big thumbs up from the kids too. Took everyone out for Sunday lunch and it was glorious. I also took the Thule roof bars off the XC90. Perfect fit!
  14. Thanks guys. Appreciated. Up until recently I was exactly the same. Haven't ordered or had a car with a sunroof since probably the mid 90s then two in a row and I open them at every opportunity!
  15. Anyone? I don't want to go pouring water where I shouldn't or poking about with bits of bent wire and create a problem that didn't exist before.
  16. My IS is 15 years old so I've been driving around with that reassurance since last August. I'd never owned a Lexus before. My previous car ownership had been exclusively German/European and I do realise now why the dealer was willing to put such a warranty on a car of that age. The chance of anything catastrophic happening is as you say, virtually zero.
  17. Equivalent AA cover seems to be £159
  18. Sunroofs are a bit of a new thing for me. Haven't had one for years and how I've got two! The seal where the sunroof meets the roof was a bit misshapen on the RX and I've refitted it and all seems to be good. However, it was a little damp around the mechanism and for piece of mind I think I should check the drainage. How does one go about this? I assume the drainage holes are the two located in each front corner?
  19. I got a year's worth of Lexus breakdown cover last August when I bought my IS from Lexus Sheffield. As an approved used car I also got a 1 year warranty. Nether of my cars now qualify for any sort of warranty but keeping the breakdown cover does interest me. Does anyone know any reason why I wouldn't be able to do that? I compared the cover to the regular AA and it did seem cheaper.
  20. As I mentioned in the other thread I didn't disconnect the battery. I have no idea who told you that. I was also able to input on the move. It's not poor. It's old. That system will have been around in some form or another approaching 15 years. Google Maps it ain't. And I don't think the dealer can be blamed for not being able to help beyond supplying new discs. For a trip like that I wouldn't even be considering the built in system. I'd buy a magnet and stick my phone to the dash
  21. Unplug the battery lead? No. Not heard that one before. I just ejected the old disc and popped in the new one. If you're going to need more than one disc you might be as well getting the official ones though https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Home/Index
  22. Picked it up from the sorting office, tried it on the move and yes, you can input while moving. Job done. Graphics are a touch prettier too. Though it still takes an age to respond when you go the wrong way. eBay link to seller.
  23. Thread from the dead! These are still listed on eBay. 12 months down the line how are they? And does your 450 have the shield? If so did you remove it?
  24. My RX is having a bit of a scrub up at the moment so I took the IS home last night and obviously back into work this morning. First time I've driven it since last week. Goodness me but it goes well I'm glad I'm passing it on to my father and not selling it. My wife even suggested it could be my eldest's first car. 7 years to go...
  25. Lovely Z4. My mate's just bought one. Nice straight six auto. RX passed its inspection which was a relief. At least it's not various cars welded together. An advisory on the state of the front pads and discs plus a tyre that I'd already noticed. 2010 and going on the sidewall cracks looks like it's been run underinflated. The spare is unused and recent so that'll go on the front with a new one.
