  1. Interesting thread. I don't have different modes on my newly acquired hybrid but I did wonder how to get the best out of it. Today I've been trying the bursts of acceleration and then feathering the loud pedal to maintain battery use and it does seem to work re: economy. My average did go up a notch or two while driving around town. Hard to do well in Sheffield though. You're never too far from a hill. That said, I've bought a 3.3l V6. Fuel economy wasn't my first consideration when I bought it so I'll probably get bored of doing that. The technology continues to fascinate though. That Toyota/Lexus could build a system so radical but so reliable while their European competitors ignored petrols but struggle to build diesels that you can drive around town without going into limp mode.
  2. Goodness me. You were living on the edge weren't you!
  3. I came across those photos while I was looking into the LEDs
  4. I think we're at cross purposes. The ION Bluetooth Cassette Adapter is not an FM transmitter of any sort nor does it need a 3.5mm/aux connection. It's basically a cassette shaped Bluetooth receiver. Pair it with your phone, insert it into the cassette deck (which all Lexus seem to have for some reason, though I heartily approve) and it will play eg Spotify through your car stereo using the cassette heads. In my opinion it sounds just as good as any other BT streaming option. I'd prefer and AUX connection but I just can't be bothered right now.
  5. Just ordered a load of new bulbs from ABD Already got the reverse LEDs as suggested by @sorcerer (I've just got to be brave enough to pull off the trim around the tailgate) and also went for LEDs the boot, regular whiter main beams, whiter sidelights and yellow fogs like the IS. Excellent stuff!
  6. I've never had much luck with FM transmitters. Add to that they usually look as foul as sin. The one I suggested ^^^ isn't an FM transmitter.
  7. Ah! That explains the number of times "Battery" pops up on my service history. I just thought it was the dealers being a little enthusiastic with their charging!
  8. See my post here... ...and in my RX thread. Might help.
  9. Just crashing the LS section for a moment. As Lexus seem to have kept cassette players waaaaaay after everyone else I can recommend one of these. Using one in my 06 RX and it works just fine. I don't need the Bluetooth handsfree bit as my car already has that but it solves the problem of streaming audio.
  10. Not at all. Having something share is a good feeling!
  11. They have no use that I'm aware of. I just like them Get you southern nancys with your AC. Windows open in all weathers up here.
  12. Spot on. And in my case Lexus Sheffield are still a family owned business and it shows.
  13. Just this isn't it? https://www.lexus.co.uk/my-lexus/registration/#my-lexus-hero You should be able to do everything (in fact more) with the app after you've verified your vehicle with the data from your V5 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.mylexus.lexus.com.mylexus
  14. Very nice. I do like the wood trim. Prefer it to the aluminium in my 400h. Is the spare mounted like the 400h? If it is it's under the car and is raised or lowered from under the false boot floor. Easy to check if it's loose.
  15. I think Rayaans means the online Lexus portal but you can register it on the app. The information you need is (from memory, it's at least 3 hours ago!) the Version number from the V5. Usually shown as below I had to wait until today to get the V5 but as soon as I entered the details it showed the visit I made last week when they gave the car a once over. No doubt today's visit will be itemised in the coming days.
  16. It does if you have the My Lexus app installed on your phone. Now my V5 has come through I can access every visit my RX (and previously my IS) has had to a main dealer from their PDI on with a detailed breakdown of all work carried out including non-service items.
  17. In other news I got Bluetooth audio working yesterday How I hear you ask? Well, I remembered I bought one of these when I got the IS but never used it because it turned out the cassette player was broken. Since then it's sat in a drawer. As you can see from the reviews it's about a 50/50 split between those who thought it was rubbish and those who gave it 5 stars. Works perfectly for me. I don't use it as a hands free device because the car already has that but for Spotify via Bluetooth on my phone it's perfect.
  18. Thank you! I'm not a car cleaning obsessive. Been there, done that, had children, can't be arsed. But I do like my cars to be presentable. This one was OK when I picked it up but I think half the fun of getting a new/old car is pouring over every square inch and getting to know it. There's no better way of doing that than cleaning it. It's a bit like digging behind the seats and seeing what you find So this time I used a G3 Clay Mitt with AG Rapid Detailer as a lubricant. This really is the amazing bit. Mine was so bad you could hear the clay removing the God knows what off the paintwork. If you want to know what your paintwork is really like find a cellophane (ciggy wrapper?) or plastic bag, put your hand inside it and run your had over the paintwork. Then clay it and use the bag again. Then it had a quick once over with AG Super Resin Polish and a coat of AG Extra Gloss Protection. It's not perfect but it's good enough for me. I might do it again in a year or so. I might not...
  19. I like to think welland and I have a purer form of 400h. One without such baubles.
  20. That's definitely saved for watching later. Will make an interesting contrast to my usual Smith & Sniff. And I'm up for it in the IS300 with your old winters
