  1. Agreed. That first few minutes when you start it up for the first time. Doesn't bear thinking about.
  2. Would anyone know a way of identifying the interior trim colour on my car? Specifically the dash top? The codes on the passenger door sticker don't seem to help and neither are VIN decoders. It doesn't look black, more a dark grey. But then sometimes it seems to take on a brown colour which I suppose makes sense with the beige seats.
  3. Really? What a step back. I was really pleased to see Lexus had thought of the problem when I got mine.
  4. Not familiar with the newer RX but is there not somewhere to store the parcel shelf under the false floor in the boot? If it has one? On my 400h there are two compartments side by side that are designed to take the parcel shelf. But I don't like the look of the boot without the shelf so I track down the rattles
  5. Good stuff. I've been toying with the idea of changing the carpet mats myself. Mine are cream/beige too and I did give them a proper shampoo but I'm still not that happy with them. Unfortunately the eBay Lexus shop stocks very little for my 06 RX. Might just get some black fitted carpets instead.
  6. Watching this thread with interest. Also where the best points to place a trolley jack would be, in my case under a 400h.
  7. This has been discussed a couple of times recently. For some reason the service history section has indeed disappeared from the Lexus website but is still available via the app.
  8. I did not know that. Is it all 250s or just the SE-L? Used to have the same on a BMW E91. Always thought it was a bit unnecessary.
  9. Sorry. My mistake/mis-type. It's the side/parking lights and full beam bulbs I've changed. I'll alter the original post.
  10. A couple of jobs done over the weekend. Sorry, no pics as yet for all the bulb stuff. I swapped out the standard side/parking light and full beam bulbs for something a little whiter. Specifically these and these. They don't quite live up to the "Intense White Xenon Effect" blurb but they do look a little better. Everything looks so yellow next to the standard HIDs something had to be done but I didn't want to start messing with LEDs even if it is possible to use them. Or those ones that blind everyone. On the subject of LEDs, I did put some in the boot. These just fitted with a little bending of the holder a la @sorcerer I think the standard fit is about 28mm, these are about 31mm. I used one either side and one in the tailgate and that's really improved things no end. Now as mentioned, yellow lights are bad. But sometimes yellow lights are good I've always like the yellow fog/Euro look (too long on VAG forums) and intend to fit these next time I'm under the front of the car. My IS300 has them as OEM which always surprised me but I'd like to fit the same on the RX. Another little job inspired by @mrdoofa and @Haylands We'd got some of those cheap "magic sponge" things kicking around and I decided to give the steering wheel a bit of a clean. Oh my goodness! The ******* that came off! And the difference in finish. After 10 minutes the wheel matched the airbag cover. Pictures aren't great but hopefully you can see I've done the bottom section but not moved on to the sides. I then put some cleaner/conditioner on which put a little of the gloss back but very impressed with the results.
  11. I picked up a can of lithium grease a little while ago from Halfords. It's great stuff. I use it on all sorts around the car.
  12. I'm told you get similar result when the carpet is damp. Either after a proper clean or use a spray bottle and mist the surface. Still going a bit far imo
  13. As the others have said, a little oil or grease will do the job. Personally I'd use a little copper or lithium grease. Use them. They look nice.
  14. Yes. Keep us up to date. It'll be interesting to see how the IS handles serious mileage.
  15. I used a bit of fine wire wool and some WD40 on the end of my IS300 exhaust. It looked great and still does. However, it is actually the end piece of the exhaust not an added tip.
  16. I buy MiniDisc players. And I don't even drink.
  17. Quite. The number of times you see someone attempt to drive into a space and you think "This'll end in tears". They'll end up either three miles from the kerb, halfway into your living room, still be maneuvering this time next week or end up giving up and driving off.
  18. An awful lot of this is down to how GDPR is being (wrongly) interpreted. My wife runs a restaurant for a large international chain and currently they are unable to take bookings because according to instruction from their head office recording a customer's name and phone number in a bookings book or similar is in breach of GDPR. Clearly wrong, clearly impractical, not at all how GDPR was intended to work and for some another excuse to roll their eyes and moan about yet more legislation from Brussels. When in fact it's some numpty at head office.
  19. As per title really. Has anyone got one of these... ...they don't need? I know there are some on eBay but I'd prefer to ask here first. Lost one today. Sod's Law says it's the first time the car's been out in a couple of weeks!
  20. Is it a camera or sensors or both? My RX is the first car I've had with a camera and though it took a bit of adjusting I find I'm squeezing into tighter spots than I would have previously attempted.
  21. Great stuff. Thank you. At last, someone who knows what they're talking about.
  22. So should I use winter tyres or not?
  23. Mine has the OEM Bridgestones but I'm a big fan of all seasons too. I'm not familiar with the Vector 4s but if the tyres had been borderline when I got my 400h I'd have certainly gone the all season route. I've also run winters year round on an XC90 with no ill effect other than slightly quicker wear. Anyway, stop this talk of winters and all seasons. It's far too early for me to get excited about snow.
  24. Lol. I forget cars need software updates now.
