  1. Very popular on the German car forums because their cars are just so damn noisy. BMW even do their own version purely for noisy door and window seals.
  2. Good to hear all is well after the belt change 👍 Best thing I've ever come across for window rubbers/door seals etc is Gummi-Pflege Sometimes stuff like silicone etc can start to squeak after a little while. And I think you're correct. It's wax/sealant on the rubber that can effect it.
  3. Agree with your comment regarding the bewildering choice. I'd just pick one at the price point you're happy with and the latest incarnation of Android. Purely personal choice but for me that would be about 200 quid and Oreo/8 - 8.1 though Nougat/7 - 7.1.2 is perfectly usable.
  4. Reviving this one. Are there any interesting options that can be enabled using Tech Stream? Specifically in the 400h?
  5. Quite. That's why I recommended the Apple products. But... ...he already uses an Android phone so an Android tablet might be the way to go. The two devices together could virtually mirror each other and saves the faff of having Google accounts and Apple accounts. Regarding using a tablet away from home, easiest thing would be to see how much data you're allowed on your phone contract and tether your tablet to your phone when you need to use it. Sounds more complicated than it is but we do it with the kids tablets whenever we're out and about. You're basically broadcasting a wifi signal from your phone and the tablet connects to that. I certainly wouldn't sign up to another contract for a SIM enabled tablet but that's just me. The other thing to keep in mind is that there's free wifi virtually everywhere now.
  6. Don't go looking at how much they are on eBay then
  7. Cheers Rob but when I didn't hear anything I got one off the Bay.
  8. Can ----> Worms As a committed PC/Android user I heartily agree with almost all of the comments made by @sorcerer regarding Apple products. However, I'd say the OP should go for an iPad or iPad Mini. He's not a techie, there's no point trying to turn him into one and at least he'll get manufacturer support for longer than a fortnight. Job done.
  9. Love the interior. Hadn't spotted this thread before.
  10. I've seen some OEM 18" wheels that I'm told are off a 2005 RX 300. A little digging tells me they should be 7jx18 ET38 and that's what mine should be too. They're this type Will they fit?
  11. You could be right. When I was looking round for an RX I did come across one with the front sensors and the switch was in that area. I've had some for a while but it makes no odds for the terminally cack-handed I'd still break it.
  12. Should stress to the OP that the trim on the inside of tailgate is a swine. Or at least mine was. You're convinced it's going to break but then it just pops off with the coaxing you describe.
  13. I can't see it either.
  14. The toggle switch is for the AFS or adaptive front lighting system. When it's on the headlights turn with the angle of the steering wheel between certain speeds. If you're on unlit roads and look carefully you can see it in action. Re: the license plate light, you get to it from the inside. Take off the panel on the tailgate.
  15. Good to know. Is the exhaust for an RX300 massively different from one for a 400h? Does the hybrid gubbins make a difference? £1100 does sound very steep.
  16. Thank you Paul and Dean but I (sort of) owe you an apology. How can someone forget their car is still under warranty? I've no idea but I did The service manager at Lexus Sheffield pointed it out to me.... So basically I couldn't really care less how much the sensor is (£174 plus VAT) or how long it will take to fix. That said, I will keep you posted for the benefit of anyone having the same problem in the future. They're also on back order from Japan.
  17. Cheers Dean. No changes at all other than my wife driving it As I said, it was very low on fuel Sunday before I filled up and the handbook does mention that light may come on if you run out completely. After filling up we had a little drive and then nothing until she was leaving work last night. I cleared the code again last night and made it nearly into the office this morning before it popped up again. Any other information on this would be appreciated. She's taken my RX :edit: Another pertinent question would be am I doing any harm driving the car with this fault?
  18. My two previous daily drivers were the IS300 with the 2JZ and a V70 2.5T AWD. I haven't needed to do anything to see an instant 10mpg improvement! The Volvo in particular was very thirsty.
  19. It had to happen. Something has finally gone "wrong" on the IS300. The engine malfunction light is on and the above code is displayed. I can clear it but it returns after a mile or two/ten minutes or so. The car was absolutely fine yesterday other than my wife had let the tank run extremely low. It still drives normally but the light is on. I've had a look around the site and this code does get plenty of mentions but none of it makes much sense to me. So what is it and how do I fix it it? Or to be more precise, what is it and what do I need to say to someone with more expertise than me and avoid sounding like an idiot? Is this a fairly specific fault or one of those codes you spend six frustrating months chasing? I've owned Volvos.
  20. Well I'm glad I could ask the question no one else dare! I keep trying the method described above but I'm still at the booting it stage
  21. So what did you do differently? And sorry but someone is going to have to tell me what ICE stands for.
