  1. I did buy some LEDs. Possibly these ones. I'll have mentioned it somewhere I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast. Anyhoo, I didn't remove the shields because I couldn't be arsed I didn't have the appropriate tools at the time. Fitting is a little snug iirc but they work just fine.
  2. Not underseal but I get a local garage to have a good go round with Waxoyl on both my Lexus/Lexus's/Lexus'/Lexi. Japanese cars do have that probably now unfounded reputation but for the 30 quid I think it costs me I think it's worth doing.
  3. This thread and that rather annoying man on YouTube were very much on my mind last week during the family trip from Sheffield to Cornwall. Somewhere on the A30 and I realised we were running on fumes. The needle was below the red and I hadn't even noticed that or the little light. This is what happens when you're spoiled by years of range displays in Volvos etc.
  4. I can thoroughly recommend carmats.co.uk having bought numerous tailored sets from them for various cars.
  5. Apologies. It was an LS400. This one in fact... Which eventually gave up the ghost and the engine went into this...
  6. Got back the in the early hours of the morning. 850 miles in total and the 12 year old RX never missed a beat
  7. I'll have to get back to you with a definite answer to that as the car is now in storage because I'm away from tomorrow. Initial thought is no but it's literally half a mile from Lexus Sheffield to where I've parked up. The road the dealer is situated on has potholes everywhere so anything I heard in the brief drive back could have just been regular noises. We'll have to see.
  8. So major service, new front pads and discs, new timing belt and water pump and new ns suspension top mount. Just short of 700 quid.
  9. CDs you say? Not sure if they're a bit of a fad tbh.
  10. I got my Nokians from Oponeo. Absolutely fine.
  11. It's confirmed. The S-Max is still in Antwerp. Road trip!
  12. Bought it in August last year from Lexus Sheffield. They did a small service on it before letting me have it and I arranged for this big service and MOT to be carried out before the warranty runs out in a couple of weeks. As we know, these cars certainly can't be described as unreliable but they are showing their age. I've had the O2 sensor, water pump and top mount all done under warranty. And while they're doing the water pump they're changing the timing belt two years early because Lexus are already paying the labour. It'll cost me about 30 quid in parts.
  13. Important RX 400h related news. It seems as if the family bus replacement will not be here before we go on our jollies to Cornwall. The XC90 went back last month and a shiny new S-Max was supposed to replace it but delays on delays. I seriously doubt it's going to turn up at the dealers, be PDI'd, registered and taxed before close of play Thursday. So it is with a heavy heart () that we must go away in the RX. All three children in a row and squabbling for 300 miles but we're going in the Lexus 👍👍👍 I've even offered to do mix cassettes for everyone while feigning ignorance of that Spotify or whatever it's called. Don't tell Freda that I'm secretly very pleased about this. Hell, I'd take us all away in the IS if she'd let me.
  14. I know But I saw a straw and clutched at it... I did actually ask him if he knew for certain it was that but he sort of swerved the question and said something about it being a known problem. We'll see. I'm not too bothered anyway. I have got used to it to the point that I hardly notice anymore. And all the work is being carried out under warranty.
  15. Hi Rob. Welcome to the LOC. I can't comment on the Sportcross but my 2002 IS 300 saloon is still as tight as a drum and drives extremely well. Looked after these seem to be bomb proof. You can throw it around a bit if that takes your fancy but it's extremely comfortable around town or over distance. Parts availability appears to be very good but I wouldn't know about price because I haven't really needed any. Mine was 15 years old when I got it last year and it was sat on the main dealer's forecourt with a year's worth of Lexus warranty. Can you think of a European brand that would do that?
  16. I've got a little update. Hopefully. At the moment mine's in at Lexus for a service and I mentioned the knock from the nsf again in a sort of "And I know you don't believe me but..." kind of way. Got an update on progress this morning and almost in passing the service manager told me they're replacing the top mount on that side. So we'll see...
  17. On our sadly departed XC90 I had both. Ran Nokian WR SUV 3 winters year round and they were superb but I suppose may have worn a little quicker. Absolutely unstoppable in snow. Then swapped those for Pirelli Scorpion All Seasons because the price was good. Again, no problems but not quite as sure footed in snow. Never had a problem, I just had to be a bit more cautious. You can thank me later for not answering your question in any way
  18. Clean bill of health apart from a leak from the water pump. The car's under Lexus warranty until August 8th. Told them to change the belt while they're in there
  19. Scary stuff! Am I right in thinking this car is new to you? Check around the pedal end of the throttle for any bodgery. There was a popular mod to "cure" what was supposed to a bit of a dead spot on the throttle at pick up from eg junctions. https://www.my.is/forums/f62/is300-throttle-cable-spacer-350180/ Other than that I can't think what it could be. I've never experienced anything like it with my IS 300.
  20. Mine's gone to Lexus Sheffield today for it's 16th service. A big one apparently £££. 60k on the clock. I know many poo poo this but it's a special car, it's got full Lexus Sheffield history and I intend to keep it that way.
  21. Only just seen this. I was talking to a guy only last week that had the V8 out of an LS430 in his IS200. It's not pretty but if I bump into him again I'll get a picture...
  22. To a point. Over a hundred years of cars on the road, every single one of them making roughly the same amount of noise does play a part.
  23. Great list. I'd happily take any of those 5. My dad had a MKII GTI 16V which was simply awesome. He also had a 190E which I also loved. And pinched at every opportunity. The current nostalgia for stuff like the Allegro and Marina does astonish me. Getting excited about a car that was quite likely to break down or fall to bits at any moment. I assume those that talk fondly of them aren't old enough to remember how bad they actually were and the very important part they played in the demise of the UK car industry.
