  1. I've often wondered about these motorists going past you when you're in an average speed limit zone. I don't mean those that take 3 miles to creep past but those that are clearly 10 or 20mph faster. The only thing I can put it down to is they're local, do the journey a hundred times a week and somehow know that by coming off at a particular junction they're not going to get done or they're terminally thick and don't understand the concept of averages. Tickets ahoy!
  2. Essential Care is a slightly reduced service though. Worth keeping in mind. And my dealer offer the club discount on "proper" servicing but not Essential Care. Just to make your head spin a bit more
  3. Agreed. But we have to keep in mind that if you're going to complain it's likely you'll find yourself on a forum. But every owner isn't a member of a forum. Take these things with a pinch of salt. There's also the forum phenomena of "they all do that". An issue that may have affected a number of members (who joined because of the issue) becomes lore. A particular engine will do this at some point, a particular model will do that at some point. No they won't. Some might if you're unlucky. I can really only speak from experience when I say that my 16 year old IS and 12 year old RX are "better" built than all of my previous new and used cars.
  4. A friend of ours has an Evoque that's only about 4 years old and the faults on that are staggering. It's like built in obsolescence. And actually as most of these vehicle are now aimed at fleets the cynic in me says that's exactly what it is.
  5. Nothing wrong with private plates. Have a play around here. I've never used the private companies that sell the more expensive stuff but they always seem a bit sharkey with hidden charges etc. With the DVLA what you see is what you get. We just went for a random letter, two numbers and then initials. If you chop in your GS for something newer you could get VL16ADY for £399
  6. If you've got a sunroof I'd be looking there first I think.
  7. Lovely stuff. Another ten or so suggestions and I'm going to do just that.
  8. In our house that sort of thing is described as a bit 'Kardashian'.
  9. That does look very nice. http://www.ionicsystems.com/uk/product/12-inch-linear-green-colour-change-di-filter-30ppm/ or https://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/aqua-gleam-de-ionising-water-filter The first one is what window cleaners use. The second is dressed up for car cleaning.
  10. But they never mention the beautiful finishes in their German favourites that are scratched after you wipe them with a dry duster. Try cleaning a piano black finish in a BMW or Merc and you'll know what I mean.
  11. It did. A real shame. Same as the RX 350. But I've just taxed my '06 400h for £280. It's all a nonsense. And I find on Autotrader that if the tax is left blank it's £535
  12. Check the Harman store on eBay. I picked up a couple of pairs of AKG phones that were supposed to be returns or something. Brand new, unmarked, sealed and all that http://www.ebaystores.com/harmanaudiouk
  13. Is suppose it depends on budget and how handy you are. Someone on here recently changed out his entire air suspension set up. Scroll a bit dow the RX section. The other thing to keep in mind is that this is the internet and while there undoubtedly have been problems with some of the air suspension cars it certainly won't be all of them. You'll have probably noticed that things on internet forums do sometimes get a smidge exaggerated and repeated as gospel... If I was looking at a well maintained, low mileage, low owner example I'd take a punt. If my budget didn't stretch to that then maybe not.
  14. Useful but I think the OP is interested in which ones fit his car not which child seat is best. And if you're wanting to try then I'd probably go with Halfords rather than Mothercare as you're more likely to be able to take the seat outside to the car park and see if it fits. I can't imagine you'll have a problem with a CT though, my IS seats are a little more unusual. And while you're at Halfords you could stock up on car cleaning stuff for when it arrives
  15. Welcome! I'm sure someone will be along to help further but one of the main differences I'm aware of is the SE-L comes with air suspension which some on here will tell you to avoid.
  16. I don't think they even do that. They just parrot previous reviews. It's just laziness. Look at the stuff they come out with about Subarus too.
  17. I always suggest one of these but I don't think anyone has ever taken me up on it. Can't think why I've used them for years, they're cheap and do the job.
  18. Entirely different cars and seats but yes, be aware that universal isn't universal. Isofix fittings may be there (by law?) but if the seat cushions and bolsters are a particular shape then no amount of grunting and swearing with make the seats fit. We have 2 Maxi-Cosi Rodifix an a first gen IS with Isofix. The seats will not attach due to the shape of the cushions. Nothing wrong with the seats, they just don't fit the Lexus.
  19. If the mods could merge this thread with the 0-60 one and then we could just keep him contained.
  20. Bit of an older format fan myself. I enjoy playing with MD and cassette (picked up a lovely Technics RS-BX707 recently) but I do still like my vinyl too. None of this Linn stuff though I set myself strict spending limits and get everything off the bay. It's one of the reasons I like the older Lexus, record from vinyl onto cassette and play it in the car. Analogue ftw! Sorry. Off topic. Carry on...
  21. I had one for a couple of days recently too and I thought the same as you. And agree regarding the 17s. Too big and too low a profile. Ruined the ride for looks.
  22. As per title really. Information seems a bit thin on the ground. The standard set up really is quite poor, I guess because they offered ML as an option. I don't want to change the head unit but maybe changing the front door and A pillar speakers might brighten things up a little. So anyone have any experience?
  23. Ditto. And contrary to what some may think, that doesn't mean I'm adverse to a spirited drive. Neither am I happy to sit behind traffic when there's no need. I take Linus' point that 0-60 is just a yardstick but it's a yardstick I pay little notice to.
