  1. BMW once agreed to take an 2011 E91 320d back after 18 months of contract hire because the dash was so noisy. Drove me (and the dealer) absolutely crackers. Sytner Sheffield even removed the entire dashboard to re-fix it but consensus was that it was a broken spot weld that they just couldn't get to. Happy days
  2. True dedication Mark 👍 I can't abide rattles and have spent many an unhappy hour trying to track them down. Usually on BMWs.
  3. Air suspension so check everything is working as it should.
  4. Tbh I think if you really look after your car it doesn't help either. Large beads of water due to diligent washing and waxing that when disturbed are released in a torrent. Try not cleaning it for a few months Or try some of the Meguiars NXT products which if memory serves make water sheet rather than bead.
  5. Quite ridiculous. But if you do fancy having it done at a main dealer I'd try calling a different one. Lexus Coventry clearly couldn't give a toss. Try speaking to Chris on service at Sheffield. He has either a 400 or 430 and I'm sure he'll tell you if it's Lexus "policy". By comparison I bought my '02 2JZ IS300 last year and received a year's warranty from Lexus Sheffield. Just before the warranty ran out I had it back to them for a service and they identified a small leak from the pump. This was changed under the warranty but while they were in there I asked them to change the timing belt. It wasn't really due for a couple of years but it cost me about 35 quid because all the labour was included in the water pump job.
  6. Could be BMW or Audi owners. We've got loads of them around here and they cause all sorts of bother. Caught one going through my bin the other night. You chase them off but they always come back.
  7. Wow! Never seen that before. I'd replace that with a metal one. Black aluminium or something. I know they're available because I've bought the little stubby ones before off the Bay.
  8. What state are your front tyres in and what pressures are you running? I've never experienced this.
  9. It does not. Because the 400h is such a completely perfect vehicle it doesn't need a separate power and economy setting. By its very nature it is both powerful and economical.
  10. I had an NX for a couple of days last week while my 400h was being serviced. Chris has saved me a long post because I'd agree with all that. I've always considered the 450h to be the next step after a 400h.
  11. I assume you know you can buy a full set of discs that cover all of Europe? Only problem is it's £££. The legitimate Toyota discs you get on eBay are usually Europeans splitting the sets and selling the ones they think they won't need.
  12. Indeed. If the 400h fits the bill for you then don't give up on it. It's a great car (I got mine about 6 months ago) and there will be better ones out there.
  13. My method is progressive squeeze of the accelerator, you hear the V6 growl rise in pitch, it picks up its skirts and away it goes. I've never felt the need for any sort of kickdown or whatever the CVT equivalent might be. Certainly a different sort of power delivery to a turbo though.
  14. And it also looks like you're referring to the vehicle your wife uses to ferry the kids about? Not going to lecture you Darren, you know what to do.
  15. You can't. It's just an old system.
  16. Same ^^^ Probably xx% of the time you'd be fine but that one time you need grip to all 4 tyres your 50+ grand car is just going to let go. And I'm not just talking about sending power to whichever wheel, I'm talking about the back end possibly just losing it on a corner for example. You don't drive everywhere in a straight line.
  17. If it comes to it I think a fault on the way home followed by a report from a main dealer will be more than enough to get redress from the trader. Warranties from these people are usually pretty worthless but you can't beat "fit for purpose". That's if it comes to it though. If it was me and it was a cheap fix as Rutlandlex mentions I'd just get it done and put it down to experience.
  18. Welcome and I hope your luck improves. The 400h is a great car. I assume you have some comeback if it's anything pricey? Either from the seller (trade or private) or from the pre-purchase inspection.
  19. Note: You'll scare yourself to death with that thread. Take out the two spring loaded compartments from the boot. Unless there's standing water there's no problem. A touch of seepage/dampness around the bottom of the rear light clusters is not the problem described above.
  20. All done. £208 And a very nix NX 300h courtesy car too. Too firm though. As everything is <grandpamode> these days </grandpamode>
  21. Can't help you with the exact location but do you get the puddle of water under the car if it's stood for a few minutes? All a/c set to auto, ignition on and mine's quick to form a puddle about 3 feet from the front of the car. I'd also check the cabin filter which (I think) is behind the glove box.
  22. Didn't even need the weld Turns out it had already been done from the inside by a previous owner. So just 30 quid for the Waxoyl.
