  1. Looking forward to this!
  2. Mods: please delete if you think this is overstepping the mark re: selling. First world problem of the day. I don't like the idea of not having a single car on the fleet that can handle any bad weather we may have. So I'm thinking of putting either all seasons on or winters permanently. The Scorpion Verde All Seasons I had on my XC90 managed perfectly well on snow, the Nokian SUV3 winters obviously performed brilliantly but also didn't wear too badly running all year round. Which I plump for isn't too much of a problem. The problem I have is what to do with the OEM Potenzas that are currently on the car. I don't like the idea of just leaving them gathering dust so is there anyone on here that might be interested in having them? Last service in October had them at around 6.5mm and even wear across the tread. Again, not a specific sale thread. Just wondering if anyone would be interested? Unless of course someone is going to pop up and say that the Potenza though technically a summer tyre, actually handle the slippy stuff pretty well?
  3. Ha ha. Agreed. I'm with you and the OP. I'd agree with that too. You get a feel for a forum and how the cars are performing and this one is especially quiet re: problems and faults that are a result of poor manufacturing. I'd say one that I read most about is Lexus and their foray into diesels with the IS 220d and IS 200d. But that's just an impression. Over on the Saab forum someone mentioned Lexus and their well publicised hybrid problems. Even the Saab owners gave a collective "Eh?" to that one.
  4. Totally agree with Hugh. But hey, I've just turned 50. Anything for a quiet life.
  5. My IS 300 service booked got stamped. Odd. Anyhoo, when I had my RX 400h serviced last month there were some differences between the regular and Essential Care services and the LOC discount can only be applied against a regular service. I plumped for regular.
  6. I thought the same after using one in my V70s but then I bought one of these for the RX and it's excellent.
  7. The worse interference I seem to get is from other vehicles. Not sure how that works but pull up behind some and the buzzing starts, as they move away it stops.
  8. With keyless entry I'd say one of the daftest things to be fitted on models from any manufacturer. And it doesn't seem to matter whether they're wheels on a Lexus or wheels on a Citroen. They all do it.
  9. Hi Simon. Welcome to the LOC. A few pictures of the car wouldn't go amiss Yes, badge and place of origin certainly plays a part. The European competition can be lovely but I think if you pretty much want to guarantee to get where you're going then Japanese is where it's at.
  10. I did wonder. When I read this yesterday I looked on the Euro Car Parts site and prices weren't anything like. Even before you add the silly promotion discount.
  11. Ever since I started driving if the people who built the car say it should be xxpsi then xxpsi is what it gets. Not at all concerned about how the tyres "look" with 32psi on a 400h. And tbh I'm a little surprised that some take the word of tyre fitters as gospel.
  12. I like the hybrid because it takes the edge off running a 3.3ltr V6 SUV. And the pedestrians in car parks thing.
  13. I understand that you're saying the batteries are more likely to fail around 10 years but firstly you could say that about just about anything and secondly articles on the internet do not facts make.
  14. Auxiliary belt let go. Actually, I think it's the tensioner that went first causing the belt to snap. Luckily we were more or less on top of Tibshelf services on the M1 northbound or I'd have found out the hard way how smart the "smart" motorway is in the dark... More seriously, the thought of stopping on an active lane of the M1 at 6.00pm on a Saturday truly terrified me. I think I would have rather cooked the engine than done that.
  15. Trip to the classic show at the NEC did not end well... Thank goodness for Lexus breakdown cover!
  16. Used to have this on our XC90. Low speed maneuvering eg supermarket spaces. 19" wheels but certainly not low profile tyres though. Slightly disconcerting at first but then I just put it down to one of those things because I knew the car was mechanically spot on.
  17. Just had to defend our honour over on the Saab forum. Love the Saab and the forum is generally excellent but I don't think reliability is something they can call us out on! Probably get banned now...
  18. Green tea? I get boiled sweets at Lexus Sheffield. Maybe it's a Yorkshire thing?
  19. Apparently it's not unheard of for the front three to get changed and the back three to get left because they're such a cow to get to!
  20. My 2006 RX 400h is proving to be utterly reliable (should I say things like that?) but with a slightly lower mileage than yours. History is everything I'd say. If it's having work like the belt and water pump done at a main dealer than I'd imagine it's led a good life so far. Before you purchase try and do some digging into the service history. If the car isn't currently local try and get the seller to send you some pics of the service stamps and bills. Try and do this before the purchase date, forearmed is forewarned. In my experience Lexus dealers and independent garages are quite willing to speak to you about a vehicle if you're friendly and assure them it's just an enquiry and nothing more. "Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a car I think you've looked after in the past" etc. One thing that does spring to mind is that it should have had all six spark plugs changed by now. They're not madly expensive but there's an awful lot of labour involved to get at the back three. I like to think I have a good relationship with Lexus Sheffield so when I picked mine up I had them check it over. They charged me £60 and supplied me with a list of items that needed attention leaving it entirely up to me whether I had it done there or elsewhere. I'd certainly do that again, maybe worth you considering?
  21. I did just condense roughly a year's worth of arguing into a two line forum post... And I had to agree to lease a brand new BMW. But that was no bad thing because by then the F30 was out and I could afford one of the six pots.
  22. Oh you know, I think you're right. It's just the 300 and 350 SE-L that have the air suspension.
  23. I think we could all come up with ways that are better than how the bloody Government calculates it.
