  1. Turns out it was a neighbour! He's offered to pay for the damage.
  2. Awful news. Sorry to hear that too Chris. Let's hope the insomnia does alleviate and you can cut back on the medication.
  3. Came out to find a lovely scrape across the bumper this morning. You can even see where they've given it a rub to see how bad it is. Obviously either too bad or not bad enough to leave a note. But at least they cared enough to get out and have a look. Cheers guys!
  4. Another good point. And don't forget, having a well advertised dedicated recovery fleet is a selling point if you're buying a Land Rover Probably on first name terms with the drivers.
  5. I don't see any point. A dedicated fleet of vehicles painted a particular colour just in case a Lexus breaks down? That's crackers. And I'm almost certain that every VAG/Jaguar/Land Rover/whatever that breaks down doesn't get a dedicated vehicle and mechanic.
  6. Ditto. I zone out.
  7. That's a thing of beauty. And I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall when you realised the Esprit wasn't the best move you ever made. I'm not even going to mention that acronym...
  8. Why? Lexus have had lukewarm reviews from the motoring press for ever. But we know better don't we? In a nutshell.
  9. There was a Nissan GT-R parked on our road yesterday. It made me think of this thread because I think the new Supra should have that sort of presence. All said, I haven't seen one of these in the flesh. When you see one drive past, that's the test.
  10. Sorry guys but this is the Supra I'd have... Haters gonna hate...
  11. Interesting. Never come across this character before. I'm more Smith & Sniff than exotic supercar bellendery.
  12. Funny this should pop up again. No keyless entry on my '06 RX but I can guarantee that if I park anywhere on Ecclesall Road Sheffield between Summerfield Street and Collegiate Crescent the remote locking will not work at all and I have to use the key to lock and unlock. Love to know what causes the interference.
  13. That's a shame. I know you liked the RX. Anyhoo, you're still allowed to pop in. The Ford forums are awful
  14. I have no idea how cars work so I'm up for that
  15. Further to this, still haven't had chance to watch the video or look into the Techstream requirement but I have looked through the service paperwork and the brake fluid was last changed in February 2016 so probably due assuming it's every two years as most manufacturers recommend.
  16. I'd take this opportunity to go with 18s too. But I'd be looking at eBay for them and then some decent rubber from the tyre fitters. I believe any OEM 18s from an RX 300, 350 and 400h will fit. I also wouldn't sell on damaged/repaired wheels.
  17. Whereabouts in Yorkshire are you Geoffrey? I know a very good ex-Lexus specialist just outside Sheffield if you want another mechanic to look. I'd be interested in a picture of the wheels and tyres if you know how to do that. And don't be disheartened with the hybrid. It's almost certainly nothing to do with that.
  18. Welcome Geoffrey. Best year for the 400h 2006 I'm sure someone with more experience than I will be along shortly but I really can't see why putting bigger wheels on would cause what you describe. Plenty of people put bigger wheels on all sorts of vehicles. If it has had a new exhaust it could be that or if we're still looking at tyres have they been fitted correctly? Are they directional? Are the pressures correct? Alternatively, check if any of the covers under the front of the car have come loose and are vibrating at speed.
  19. I'd have to check but I don't think it's due or Lexus would have banged on about it at the last service. And I'm being thick but how does diagnostic software help change brake fluid? :edit: Ah, got you.
  20. What I'm describing is much more pronounced than the usual "Oh!!" moment you get pulling up behind someone in your new 400h. Yes you do get used to that but this feels much more like something has let go before taking control again.
  21. To my simple brain this makes sense. I think I'm correct in saying the battery was at full charge (all green bars) each time it's happened. This makes sense too but I'd be very surprised if it's the same situation because each time it's happened I've not had any traction issues. Straight line, sub-30mph, approaching a junction. This I'll have to look into. And why do you reference Techstream for a fluid change? I'll certainly look into that. Our colonial cousins do like their lawsuits don't they? Great responses as usual guys 👍
  22. Noticed this a couple of times. Slowing down to (for example) a junction with my foot on the brake and the car suddenly surges as if the brakes have momentarily been released and then reapplied. Not a gentle feeling but for a fraction of a second a little worrying. Something to do with the regenerative braking? Any thoughts?
  23. Oddly I don't miss sensors now. Used to be very sceptical of reverse cameras but now I think I prefer them. My wife's brand new S-Max in bristling with sensors but I always feel I'm a bit blind when I put it in to reverse.
