  1. I doubt remapping is available for this car. Hybrid system aside it's a normally aspirated engine so any hypothetical gains would no doubt be small and prohibitively expensive. Buy a Saab Aero
  2. Can't believe those extremes are your only option. You don't even need a Toyota/Lexus specialist. Just a decent garage that knows what it's doing. Ask friends or colleagues who they use. And I wouldn't let Kwik Fit or Halfords anywhere near my cars. Jack of all trades, masters of none. Just stand outside Halfords and watch them trying to fit bulbs and wipers. It's comical.
  3. It's an old Saab navigation disc. The navigation unit in the 9-5 is a bit flaky like most 14 year olds. I'm trying to copy the disc onto a Verbatim DL disc to exclude the possibility of the disc being bad. So I create a disc image from the original using ImgBurn. Then try to put that disc image onto a fresh disc using ImgBurn. But ImgBurn tells me there's not enough space on the DL disc. Which just doesn't make sense.
  4. I got up around 6am and there was proper snow with big fat flakes coming down. Went back to to bed for a couple of hours. All gone. Boo!
  5. Yes. Disc burning. Like it's 2009 all over again. Cast your mind back to when you actually had a disc burner. I'm trying to burn a data disc ISO to a dual layer disc. The ISO is taken from a dual layer disc. But when I try to burn that ISO onto a DL disc with ImgBurn it tells me there's not enough space. How is that even possible?? If I was being a bit more dim than I actually am and tried to burn a DL ISO onto a single layer disc then fair enough. But it's DL to DL. Anyone?
  6. I see you're in Derbyshire Glynn. If you need wheels shot blasting and powder coating I can really recommend CBF Powder Coating in Sheffield. Simon did my IS300 and Saab 9-5 wheels. If it hangs about much longer they'll do the ones on the RX too. 200 quid for all four.
  7. With you on that. Generally that sort of thing is absent on LOC. I understand your original point. I've a friend who has taken advantage of VAG finance inducements more than once and then paid off the PCP or whatever after one payment. No threat of having to pay anything back.
  8. My '05 Saab 9-5 Aero is the first car I've ever owned that specifies the use of 98RON in the handbook. It even warns against the use of anything else. I can continue my V-Power affectation with a clear conscience. Goes like the clappers too.
  9. When I decided I fancied a 9-3 me and a mate got one way tickets to Peterborough from Sheffield. It was as rough as anything in the flesh but nevertheless we got the seller down to £850 and drove it all the way back up the A1 with the roof down, laughing our tits off pretty much all the way because it was just so stupid. A great day And in the end it turned out to be pretty solid. Even though Saab prices are on their arse I'm sure I could sell it for at least that and a bit more.
  10. That's the spirit And come on, who else out there has done that one way train ticket thing where so long as the car isn't presented to you in a cardboard box then you're driving the damn thing home? I have. More than once
  11. Excellent stuff. We don't often get first gen IS on here now. Sounds as if you're handy with the spanners and if it was a bargain then buying unseen doesn't sound like too much of a problem. Rot could possibly be an issue. Check around the front edge of the rear wheel arches where they meet the sills. Bit of a moisture trap there. Apart from that, keep us posted
  12. Oh my goodness! How strange is this? Absolutely no issues with corrosion... ...and would you believe it but for sale on this very forum! Odd how these things happen
  13. This car is now for sale. If anyone wants to know how it's been since May last year then read all about it here
  14. Watching all this with interest.
  15. Three cylinder petrol turbos in everything. But at least they're petrol and not the other stuff.
  16. This one's covered in cameras, sensors, radar, the lot. It's a nice drive for a family wagon. Left them on. Ended up with a Saab 9000 with all seasons on so the problem sort of went away. And we haven't had any truly terrible weather up here yet.
  17. Everyone enjoys the RX but we also have 3 children and a 2018 Ford S-Max. There really is no need for the RX. I can use the S-Max most days and on the odd occasion my wife needs it back there are [ahem] Saabs a plenty. I should add that even though my IS300 is currently in the hands of my father, it's a keeper and I'm not going anywhere
  18. Unfortunately a change in circumstances necessitates me getting rid of my RX. Mrs rich1068 is changing jobs, she doesn't need a car, the RX is surplus to requirements. I'll put it in the ads section when I get a second and leave it there for a bit before I put it on eBay or Autotrader <shudder>
  19. Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind
  20. They're just so damn cheap! All those nonsense rumours about not being able to get parts or insurance. They should be Volvo money but they're usually around 50% cheaper.
  21. 9000 is gone. Bought the Aero. What the **** hell is wrong with me?
  22. I would totally agree with that statement. Especially if you have a decent relationship with them in the first place. And I mean friendly, not having spent ££££ there in the first place. Took my '06 RX 400h for a brake fluid change, parking brake adjustment and MOT to Lexus Sheffield today. £113. Considerably cheaper than the local (recommended) independent.
