  1. I agree they're probably outperformed but I know which brand I'd go for and it wouldn't be German. Having driven all the mainstream German marques since passing my test 30+ years ago but only recently dipping my toe into Lexus/Japanese cars I would challenge your comment that there are "better" products available. I pay absolutely no attention to the majority of reviews and my daily drive doesn't include the Nurburgring at any point so I've a feeling a 200t would be rather nice. 245bhp through the rear wheels sounds pretty good to me. And as I don't do huge mileages and like to enjoy my drive rather than worry about the fuel economy a 250 sounds even better! I take it by the general lack of responses we don't have owners of either car on here?
  2. It seems fairly obvious now I can see the title of this sub-section up there ^^^ but I honestly did not know that Lexus briefly offered the third generation/XE30 with the 4GR-FSE V6 from the previous IS. I was vaguely aware they did a 2 litre turbo (did Lexus see it as a replacement for the V6?) but really all you hear about is the 300h. Some idle browsing on Autotrader shows these V6 third gen ISs to be a rare beast but what are they like? Anyone on here have one? And the 200t? On paper it looks like a nice enough motor, 240bhp and 350nm through presumably the rear wheels. What's not to like?
  3. I know this. And they didn't give me the advice, it was the store assistant who phoned them! Anyhoo, it appears that Halfords Queens Road Sheffield is to be avoided. As is any contact with Halfords Business Services.
  4. I do. But as you say, sometimes you have no choice. I am an ocean of calm now but while I was still annoyed last night the branch got both barrels via their "how did we do?" link on the receipt.
  5. In all seriousness, yes it is. I've no idea what your budget is but in the past I've had a glance at 450h prices on Autotrader and if the condition of that car is as good as the ad says then it looks a good 'un. That London though...
  6. Buy a one way train ticket, tell yourself you're not going to buy the first car you see, hand over the money and then drive it back home up the M1. Job done
  7. Beat me to it Roy. If I was after a 450h this would certainly tick all the boxes.
  8. Happened again today. Some patronising muppet telling me I need to download a voucher from here (???) to get a code to receive my 10%. And that's after they phoned the Halfords Business Services number on the card. Sick of explaining how much the discount is, how to take off 15% (!!!) or them just saying they don't know what to do and holding my gaze in some sort of mouth breathing Mexican stand off. How is this discount negotiated by the owner's clubs that offer it and why the hell don't Halfords staff know about it?
  9. One of the Saabs is hopefully going today but I genuinely can't remember which one.
  10. Excellent. Thank you!
  11. Realised I never posted pics of my "old" 9-5 Aero As you can see it's hugely different to my "new" 9-5 Aero The new one has a cassette player
  12. I'm currently the largest Saab dealer in the country.
  13. Bugger I shouldn't be allowed out on my own.
  14. I agree with your second point but I'm sceptical of the first. I just think it's lazy writing.
  15. Fixed the article. No Glyn, it's not just you.
  16. Surprised to see an Audi in the top 5. Totally not surprised to see how badly Land/Range Rover do.
  17. Some of the European marques have all sorts of clubs you can join when this sort of thing happens. On here (to paraphrase my children) it's like yeah, whatever..... Congratulations
  18. Absolutely. Stick it in the highest interest savings account you can find and I'll get the car teleported to you.
  19. Stopped watching years ago. Clarkson grated and Richard Hammond is just ridiculous on so many levels.
  20. If I ever sell it Glyn then you're the first person I'd call.
  21. A little update on this particular IS. As I've mentioned before it is a keeper but unfortunately isn't a fit for me right now so my dad drives it. He's 81 and does catch the odd curb or put a little scuff on the corner but nothing that couldn't be sorted quickly and (fairly) cheaply if circumstances changed. Most importantly he does very few miles and it's garaged every night. Fast forward to the week just gone and the parents were due to join us in Devon for a week but I could tell the drive was making my dad a little nervous so my wife drove the S-Max and I drove the IS 300. A quick look at the tyre pressures, check the oil and off we went. While we were on the way down the car turned 63k and all in all it was a 600 mile round trip. 17 years old, the cruise control set at an indicated 80mph and the car never missed a beat. Not a single cough or hiccup. One of the most underrated and/or overlooked cars I have ever had the pleasure to own.
  22. It's not risky. I'm completely cack handed and have managed it more than once. But seriously, try these. A tenner.
  23. I've used the AG kit before (drill, pads, polish, all that) but recently tried the ArmorAll headlight restorer from Halfords on my 9-5. The lenses were yellow when I collected it. Two wipes and a sealant. Amazing difference and thoroughly recommended.
  24. Almost certain to. Don't they own Waze? Waze already does all this. I added the to indicate a light hearted response. And last time I looked the UK wasn't run by the Chinese Communist Party. I'll add another of these just in case
  25. You'll have to do better than that Mr Dappr Not saying they didn't but I'm not spending the afternoon Googling. Yes. And guns don't kill people. People kill people or whatever the nonsensical saying is. I live on a side road with terraced houses and cars on each side. There's enough room to drive one car up or down and the local authority have just dropped the speed limit to 20mph across the entire area. Doesn't stop idiots who think that because they can't see anything coming down the road it's OK to do 40. Lost a cat. Don't want to lose a child. Cars are faster, more comfortable, quieter and safer than they've ever been. The standard of driving and awareness is (imo) getting worse and we can't be trusted to behave. GPS speed limiters it is.
