  1. If they've just gone yellow you could try the ArmorAll kit from Halfords. Two chemical wipes and a sealant. Works well. Anything worse than that and I've had good results with the Autoglym kit. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/clay-bars-detailing-products/armor-all-headlight-restorer-wipes-kit https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/car-cleaning-kits/autoglym-headlight-restoration-complete-kit
  2. I had a run up from Sheffield because I'd heard so much about him and I wasn't getting any quotes local to me for less than £500. My GS has had a stainless exhaust fitted but the rear silencers are tiny and it drones terribly. I just want Tony to make it as quiet as possible. £299
  3. I'm booked in there for two new rear silencers. Not until the 23rd though. I'll have burst by then!!
  4. Clearly we need to resurrect this little gadget.
  5. Sorry, I helped to pretty much hijack Kat's first post!
  6. Where is the water making an appearance? I recall being a bit stumped by the rear drain holes on my 400h but it turned out to be the front ones that needed attention anyway. Have you tried anything yet? You need a thin but sturdy piece of wire. Wire coat hanger or somesuch. I used a length of solder wire. Just have a gentle wiggle down the front drains. If you do unblock something you'll suddenly see it drain onto the garage floor. Then just pour a bit of water in each front corner of the sunroof to check.
  7. Trust me, they're not. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Volvos I had but Lexus are in a different league. In fact I'd say that about any of the European marques I've owned. Lexus are streets ahead.
  8. Welcome Kat!
  9. Changed a cracked front fog light unit. Almost disappointingly straightforward.
  10. I thought I was going to really hate the spoiler on mine but it's really grown on me. Finishes off the back end really well I think. And a 430? What a beast that must be!
  11. Have to say those fastenings under the bonnet are a very nice touch.
  12. Adjusted the parking brake today. Just like back in the day on my '65 Beetle with drums all round! Also, packed out under the supports on the spoiler. It was a little loose and made a nasty noise when you shut the boot lid. I thought I'd be able to tighten the bracket where it attached to boot lid but pop rivets Genuine Lexus too.
  13. Very tidy. And I didn't think I was going to like that but I do
  14. Personally I'm a bit partial to some s*x, people's private parts, adultery, lies, hidden agendas, murder, theft, casual s*x, robbery, and drug taking. Luckily I'm also able to follow what's happening in Syria and Eliud Kipchoge's amazing achievement today. Top Gear is ******* though.
  15. Last of the necessary work carried out today. OS upper arm replaced, ball joints last Thursday, err... that's it. Everything else is now, as they say, gravy
  16. Thanks for the advice chaps. I'm afraid I am rather analogue at heart and the factory nav is staying. I very much like the OE look on my cars. I appreciate the capabilities of units but I know the look would jar. And anyway, how would I play my cassettes? (I wasn't joking ) I've realised with some adjustments that it's the front speakers generally that are letting the side down so I may look (at some point) at just upgrading them.
  17. Just about the only thing that's annoying me about my recent purchase is the sound from the standard head unit and speakers. It's a nav unit too so I don't really want to lose that but the system sounds very bass heavy and woolly. I've resigned myself to adjusting bass and treble every time I switch sources (oddly cassettes seem to do best on this system) but it lacks clarity and I wondered if some replacement quality tweeters might help? Any thoughts? And how do you access just the tweeters?
  18. Adds yet more class to the interior. If that is even possible. I think that's my first mod!
  19. Heard some horror stories about DPFs, limp mode and not letting the tank get below a quarter because it won't regenerate.
  20. Should point out that my references to Ms Thunberg are entirely light hearted. I think she's an inspiration and parents should encourage more young people to be like her.
  21. I'm starting to think the only time I ever went full Thunberg was when I ran my '06 RX 400h. The wider argument to this is when I browse Autotrader and see 10 or 15 year old perfectly usable, well looked after, big, safe family cars going for peanuts or just getting scrapped because someone is lured into a brand new Citroen. But that's another rant.
  22. While you clearly know your stuff, are you not concentrating a little too much on emissions/CO2? I don't disagree that my cars kick out more ******* than a new IS or i3, it's that difficult to pin down production cost to the environment figure when comparing to eg a perfectly usable 15 year old petrol car. The plastics, chemicals and precious metals. And not wanting to sound like a complete cliche, there's obviously a cost to producing the electricity required to run an EV isn't there?
