  1. Which system is in the '99 LS? I have a spare DVD for the '02 Generation 01 system in my GS.
  2. Amazing job. He certainly knows his stuff and as these things tend to be, it was a bigger job than originally thought. But he moved work round so I wouldn't have to make the trip again. The car is so much better. Very much recommended.
  3. A few scuffs on one so getting that sorted but it looks like I'm all set for Beast from the East 2. In today's news, boom! Feast your eyes on this. The car is now virtually silent
  4. His number is in the PM I sent. Don't know about the trailering. I do know he backs onto an MOT station too that he uses and who are realistic about these older vehicles. Would it be within the spirit of the law for him to book you in there and you're travelling up the M1 for a test? You should also have a list/print out of the codes read by the dealer. Handy to have.
  5. Yes, perfect position in theory but a bit tight in an IS. Also a bit fiddly to do without spilling oil everywhere. Whole procedure is best to do with a clear bag over the filter. Buy a GS with the 2JZ, a bit more room But as others have said, I'd change it.
  6. Turns out mine was just the P0430 so it just went out on its own. Hopefully yours is as serious as that!
  7. And of course my yellow check engine light came on this morning!! Just filled up before heading up to Tony Banks in Leeds. Hey ho, I'll try resealing the filler cap and head straight to Lex-Tek once the exhaust is on.
  8. Oh dear. The last time someone said they were going to scrap a GS I flew to Inverness and bought it Different engine of course but projected cost from a main dealer to supply and fit an O2 sensor on mine was around the £200 mark. Turned out to be something entirely different that in fact cost me 20 quid at Dave's.
  9. Wheel nuts? Sounds obvious but these things do happen.
  10. Could just be a dodgy sensor. Ever up Sheffield way? Dave at Lex-Tek would put you right. Does like a 430 too.
  11. Are they directional? Have they been mounted correctly?
  12. Have you owned the car from new? Could just be old handset wiring. I often come across it on my old motors. But a bit blurry but the plug does look a bit like a 3.5mm Does your IS come with an aux socket to connect a music player or phone for music playback? If not could be someone had one fitted to the back of the head unit. Plug it in to your phone and see if you can play music. You'll probably need to select the input eg CD autochanger.
  13. Just reading this... ...and Kat referred to the winter wheels he received with his new IS250. A light bulb went on over my head and I remembered the 16" winter wheels and tyres I bought for my first gen IS from @gdh300 a year or two ago. They've been tucked away more or less unused since then. Anyone happen to know if they'd fit on the GS?
  14. Oh!! You have just set off a light bulb over my head!
  15. A decision was made and this one went yesterday. Sold it for more than I paid for it but man maths dictates I forget what I spent on it.
  16. That does look extremely good. I've bought a stitch on cover for my GS and if I can make it look half as good as that I'll be chuffed.
  17. More hot off the press updates. As they happen. Some serious ICE upgrades today in the form of a pair of 4" £20 Pioneers from Halfords. Again, amazingly straightforward getting the door card off. And back on again. I'd have needed a bag of new one time clips on the Saabs or Volvos. I'd say they're at least a £40 improvement to it's all good I also received my updated nav discs off the Bay (£16.50 delivered) and now I know where Milton Keynes is.
  18. I'm on a budget here.
  19. You'll miss your IS Electric cars? It'll never catch on.
  20. Agreed. My go to fixes usually involve super glue and zip ties.
  21. I know what I've been meaning to tell you! This thread cropped up in conversation last time I was chatting with Dave at Lex-Tek. Now don't forget he was servicing Lexus for 20 years and these first gen IS's were common in the dealerships at the time. I mentioned the knocking "Oh, we used to get them in all the time". And the interesting bit, Lexus used to send up to 4 shockers per corner with the instruction to keep fitting them until you get a quiet one! I'll have to try and get a bit more detail next time I see him.
  22. Agreed. I've used toothpaste before. But both can be quite abrasive.
