  1. I had some on my RX and removed them for exactly the same reason.
  2. Put your details into here https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/Shop/Index and then buy the correct disc off eBay. Or alternatively buy direct from Lexus for £££.
  3. Of course! It's Christmas! Interestingly I've found out that these Lexus units can be repaired. My options are a complete new unit (£££ and I think unnecessary as I can still hear the motor), a complete eBay/Amazon special (not keen) or one of the kits which I believe consists of the actual antennae and the toothed belt which raises and lowers it. Still not cheap for the genuine part but if it lasts another 17 years then it's all good.
  4. I'm not sure I should recommend these old GS. It was inevitable that something would go wrong and it has, taking the shine off my latest bangernomics exercise. After only 130,000+ miles, just under 3,000 of those as my daily driver the electric aerial has packed up. Put with the blown number plate bulb a few weeks ago and I think we can safely say that Japanese cars just aren't as reliable as they used to be etc etc I'm going to buy a 17 year old German car for less than a thousand pounds. I'm sure I'll have much better luck.
  5. IS spot at 2:22
  6. A couple of questions. Am I correct in thinking the Z30 (JZZ31) Soarer has OBD1? As far as I can see OBD1 (round?) to OBD2 adapters are available but would ordinary code readers work? Is Techstream compatible with OBD1? Thank you!
  7. Goodness, used to be a lot easier. Years ago ('95?) I had a brand new Citroen AX and damaged a wheel, tyre and front suspension. Took a couple of photos, got a written quote from the main dealer and a cheque from the council arrived in short order!
  8. No. Offer them a few quid if you have a way to move it and take things from there. If things don't work out part it out. Don't listen to the naysayers.
  9. Hi Pete. The answers are above. If the '13 RX has a DVD based nav system find out which disc you need from the link above and then either buy from Lexus or eBay. The discs on eBay can be copies but quite often they're parts of sets that Toyota/Lexus owners from elsewhere in Europe are selling on eg you live in Germany, no intention of visiting UK or Ireland, sell the disc.
  10. I take your point but if I could use MP3 CDs in my GS I would. BT streaming is all well and good but you're compressing an already compressed source. Add an FM transmitter into the mix and it's even worse. I'll stick with my cassettes thanks. (And yes, I'm being entirely serious )
  11. If it's anything like the IS300 and GS300 then yes, a bit of a wiggle is required. Also a torch is handy for shining through the reservoir so you can see the level more accurately.
  12. So that's a MK3 LS400? I assume the MK4 is the one with the larger headlights? Two generations of LS400, XF10 and XF20. Each generation had a facelift so yours is a pre-facelift XF20? Have I got that right? Whatever, I like yours. And gold Lexus badge is the icing on the cake.
  13. I'd be extremely surprised if were illuminated. I don't think I've ever had a car that did that and my IS, GS and RX certainly never did/do. And welcome to LOC btw
  14. While you're all waiting for a fix/replacement I'd give them a good spray and wipe with WD40.
  15. Cheers all. Often wondered when it was mentioned in this part of the forum. Nicer but not necessarily larger wheels I'd take. Along with more wood. But "sporty" springs and dampers? Perhaps not. I don't read tea leaves professionally but I reckon LS ownership will feature at some point.
  16. Chewing the fat with my local Lexus parts manager and he mentioned the parking sensor issue with the newer models.
  17. I'm in Sheffield if that's any help? Or are you near Lex-Tek?
  18. Beat me to it :edit: Could this be the cause of your check light? Have you had the codes read properly?
  19. Looks suspiciously like a height control sensor. Which I believe is linked to the headlight levelling.
  20. Indeed cheaper. That's where I got updated discs for my RX and GS. The link in my previous post was for the OP to find out which system he has and what the the latest disc is. Lexus site for a guide, eBay for the purchase
  21. A bit more info. If you have Techstream or use a garage that has you're looking for C1336 Zero Point Calibration Of Deceleration Sensor Undone in the ABS/VSC/TRC module. To fix it once you've found it go to Utility and then Test Mode. Follow the instructions for recalibration from there. The fact that yours is a 2002 is what makes me think this is the issue. Every time a code reader (including those used by Lexus dealers) is connected the car will throw this code. It's a known issue from back in the day that was never fixed by Lexus. For example, I have an emissions warning light that occasionally comes on after a motorway run. If I connect my laptop to clear it I will also have to recalibrate once I've moved the vehicle a few yards. Crazy but that's how it is. You're a long way from me but if you're ever Oop North I'm happy to look. I'm sure there are other members more local to you that would do the same.
  22. Herbie is quite right, TomTom or Google are much better but if you just fancy that OEM look (like me) and you're not bothered about the bells and whistles (like me) then updates are to be had. Have a look here and let us know the results. I recently picked up updated discs for my '02 GS and they're just fine.
  23. Your GS may have the same software glitch as mine. Just connecting an aftermarket code reader makes the VSC and VSC Off lights come on. So you may have connected a reader for something else and lo and behold you get this fault. This is a recognised fault with some GS and the only way to clear it is with Techstream. If this is the problem when I get back in to work tomorrow I'll post up a fix.
