  1. Long wave and medium wave on my GS but why anyone would want either is beyond me. Even back in the pre-FM days I rarely listened to the radio because the sound was so unbearably awful. I can imagine listening to TMS but definitely not music. Anyhoo, in lieu of functioning parking sensors I've decided to buy blindingly bright LED reverse lights. There's some logic there somewhere. Old on the left, new on the right. I also fitted an O2 sensor spacer to hopefully reduce the number of times the emissions light pops up. I'll try and get a pic later.
  2. Ouch.
  3. Longest drives in one day? Nothing record breaking but I've done Sheffield to Falmouth a few times (about 350 miles?) and Sheffield to Reims, Reims to somewhere near Cannes in two days. That worked out to be near as damn it 1000 miles door to door. Furthest in a Lexus was probably just down to Devon in the IS. Maybe another road trip in the GS is in order.
  4. Cheers Colin. But unfortunately I've had the block connection off numerous times when I've removed the door cards for the speakers and I can't say it's ever made any difference. It's only a little thing. This thread just reminded me of it.
  5. It's a GS-F Malcolm. That might do on a £500 GS something or other but the others in the F club wouldn't talk to him.
  6. Depends on your definition of reasonably priced I suppose. I got a replacement for my GS from my local dealer and with a bit of discount it was about 70 quid but my reasoning was that I wasn't taking a gamble with fit. As it was the cable had broken on mine so I did have to remove the unit. Remove the old cable, reassemble, feed in the cable as you turn off the radio, job done. Other, cheaper solutions are available
  7. Everyone else is joining in this 9 year old thread. I was feeling left out. So, window experts. Different car ('02 GS) but my passenger window just will not go back up on it's own from the control on the driver's side. I've tried holding on down, holding on up, half way down, everything. Just refuses to work. Works fine from the passenger side switch. Any ideas?
  8. Socks are destroyed as soon as you're driving on tarmac. I'd check local regs for what is required.
  9. I think you just need a regular GS wing mirror off the Bay. There was a thread the other day over on the regular GS section about this very thing.
  10. Best maintained mini cab in the country. Got to be.
  11. I always find this is the best and most fun part of getting a new to you car. All the fettling and fixing. But I have a nasty habit of then moving them on in better nick than when I got them and at a sale price that certainly doesn't reflect what I've spent
  12. You're ordering one then?
  13. I look forward to seeing it.
  14. You can get new struts from here if you need them https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc2619-lexus-rx400-tailgate-strut
  15. Well I should warn you that I intend to do the Euromillions tomorrow so time's running out for you with that 460 in Somerset.
  16. Is that one with the new Renault engine?
  17. But what he's saved on cars he's spent on oil!
  18. Agreed. It's in the For Sale section here, on Car & Classic and is currently owned by a marque enthusiast. Looks lovely, it's lower mileage irc, has full Lexus history and you're not paying the typical dealer mark up.
  19. The damage on this car! Leave it in a layby, set fire to it and claim on the insurance.
  20. Which RX are you going for Thomas?
  21. Ooo! That second one
  22. Have to say that eBay is extremely useful for this kind of thing and there are some genuinely helpful breakers out there. Always some chancers but go in with your eyes open and you can't go wrong. Since getting my GS I've spent around £100 on second hand genuine parts that would have cost thousands elsewhere auto dimming mirror complete £25 parking sensors £12 sat nav unit £25 centre caps £12 fog light £20 gear knob £15 All a bit rough around the edges but so's my car
