  1. Bizarre that it's happening so often! I've had it twice. Once back in around 1989 when I pinched my dad's Mercedes 190E and obviously thought I'd broken it and then the other week in the GS. I can live with once every 30 odd years.
  2. My GS is due 3rd April and the 9-3 4th April. I'm still getting the GS done at Lex-Tek because I think it's important to put a little bit into the local economy at times like this. An MOT fee and a bit of labour isn't going to keep anyone from going under but it helps. I haven't used the Saab for a while and I can't see much top down motoring on the horizon so I'll probably leave that. With the new rules obviously quite legal.
  3. Very grey area legally I believe, especially if you're referring to an app that starts the engine while you're not in attendance. And insurance would be unlikely to pay out if some scrote jumps in.
  4. It's an odd one with windscreens and insurance. I've never really understood why they are treated any differently to other parts of the car. Unfortunately with the added complexity of sensors and cameras I'd guess the days of free repairs and £100 replacements are coming to an end.
  5. Not a chance. Between 8am and lunchtime I lost roughly £10,000 of work for April. I'll lose more before the week is out. And if I don't stay afloat then people lose their jobs. Not a good day today.
  6. Actually that's sat in the warehouse. I might go and clean it again. I'm no essential worker but I do have nearly fifty off site staff who can't work from home. I have to be here for them.
  7. Nicely done
  8. Sorry, without going through your previous posts, have you removed and resealed the roof bars? Here's my watery adventure.
  9. Must get round to doing the engine bay on the GS. It's not too bad, I keep it tidy. But whenever I think about giving it a good go over I have trouble finding the enthusiasm!
  10. Nothing wrong with going for a drive Dave. Just about the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.
  11. Gave it a wash to make myself feel better To be honest I always find cleaning the car to be quite therapeutic. Especially important at times like this. And quite a solitary pursuit so can be enjoyed without worry.
  12. Ditto. Great product. I've clayed cars loads of times and the mitt is certainly the easiest way to tackle the job. A little tip shown to me once by a Swissvax rep. Find a cellophane wrapper or similar, something like the wrapper cigarette packs come/came in. Feel your paintwork with your fingers to see how smooth it is then put your fingers inside the wrapper and feel it again. You'll be astonished at the difference. The cellophane accentuates all the imperfections your fingers don't normally pick up. Claying the car should remove all these little imperfections stuck to the paintwork.
  13. Looks superb. Another car I'd be seriously tempted by! I still think you should look at the 400h though Pete. Lovely motors, loads about, hold their value, unbelievably reliable.
  14. Getting everything out of the boot is a doddle once you know the correct procedure. About half way down this thread I link to a YT video. If you've had water coming in it's well worth checking this area.
  15. I think we're due some pics and a price Pete Absolutely drives me nuts. Full xx Service History to me means fully stamped at the correct intervals by a main dealer. Not fully stamped at the correct intervals by a mail dealer up until 3 years old then smudgy Kwik Fit stamps until they stop entirely in 2017. Or 3 stamps five years apart for a 15 year old car but they happen to be by the main dealer. Or am I just picky??
  16. The OP originally enquired about an LS430 but I see you have a 400. This might be handy http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/suspension/diffchange.html
  17. Can't be much. On the GS300/430 it's 1.35 litres.
  18. Boo! For Out of Stock read not shipping from Japan anymore I guess.
  19. Excellent! And looks in remarkably good condition. Keep us posted. Especially regarding how much easier they are to work on than German cars
  20. Finally got round to ordering a 3P2 Bordeaux touch up kit too. Unavailable/discontinued from Lexus but a bit of internet research brings up Toyota Black Cherry. Same code so I've ordered some from my local Toyota dealer. Also placed my first order with Amayama. Anyone who's familiar with the GS will know that the trim on the bottom of the driver and passenger door starts to come away after years of being caught with your foot or a kerb etc. The trim is easily replaceable and comes colour coded. Again my colour is unavailable but I could have had silver for 40 something quid a side from Lexus. Not ideal. From Amayama I can get both sides in my colour for £49.65 including delivery from Japan.
  21. I assume the £120 plus VAT is labour? Ouch! BUT... that £255 total figure isn't a million miles from what I used to pay years ago for small services on an A3 at my local Audi dealer. Things don't seem to have changed that much. And I know everyone goes on about shiny showrooms but I suppose you got a very nice courtesy car for as long as you needed too. And enough coffee to drown in.
  22. And the very nice Russell at Lexus Sheffield was have none of that BMW travel mug so he gave me one of these
  23. Officially the start of Summer. I've put the original carpets back in.
