  1. I think that's a lovely looking thing.
  2. It's like a mini Q car. Always liked the looked of the last shape Accord estate too. An interesting discussion was had on Twitter the other day about the Lynx Eventer. In my opinion one of the best looking coachbuilt estates/shooting brakes. It just looks right. Rear window is from a Citroen Ami 8 apparently.
  3. When the extended warranty question crops up on here I think it's these sort of issues people overlook. Focus is always on the hybrid trickery and "What if...?" It doesn't take much for a bill to run to £1k at a main dealer if there's a problem with a part shared by pretty much every vehicle out there. With the longer standard warranties offered by the likes of Toyota and Kia, don't they insist on main dealer servicing throughout? Or did I dream that? I know they can't for the standard 2-3 year warranties because of whatever that legislation is called (the name escapes me) but I thought I'd read somewhere that to be eligible for eg 7 years your car has to stay within the authorised dealer network.
  4. Honda estate you say... https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1215611
  5. I've got some on the way at the moment. paints4u.com but via Amazon. My paint colour is discontinued from Lexus but I found out just before everything went Pete Tong that Toyota used the same code for some of their cars. Ordered it and then everything shut. Fell back on Amazon.
  6. With your mileage I'd certainly say yes. Especially with the inclusion of the breakdown cover. There's £250+ worth of cover there and if it's the same as my Lexus cover it's for you and not the car plus a partner for free.
  7. Have to say this will probably be the one and only time I do this. I do enjoy cleaning the car but under the bonnet has always been a bit out of sight, out of mind.
  8. It's still not OK Malc, you just have to use some sense I suppose. Engine running, already warm so it dries quickly and not much more than a spray similar to a garden sprinkler. Keep it moving, don't do it for too long and avoid directly spraying the sparky bits You see some using jet washers or steam cleaners. I'd certainly never do that.
  9. I find it extremely therapeutic. I'm not exaggerating when I say my 2JZ looked much like your 1UZ. I covered the battery and sprayed with this. Left it a couple of minutes, started the engine and rinsed with a spray from the hosepipe. Left it running for a few minutes to heat up then turned off and sprayed with this. From the AG website "Vinyl & Rubber Care is also excellent at transforming your engine. After cleaning with Engine & Machine Cleaner, spray over a wet engine and leave to dry." Results Apart from a quick wipe over after a service I have never cleaned under the bonnet before.
  10. Pretty much my mantra. Still manage some right royal ***** ups though.
  11. Where? Where's the engine bay? Under that plastic? My GS300 looked similar up until a couple of days ago. Like Jonathan I got a bit bored too but I covered the battery, sprayed some Halfords aerosol degreaser around, started the engine, rinsed with a hosepipe a then just a liberal spray with the AG Vinyl and Rubber Care stuff. Looks great!
  12. I'd be looking at the immobiliser too. Disconnected the battery plenty of times and the 6+ minute wait is a pain in the bum. Obviously make sure everything else is off while you wait with the ignition lights on. So lights, radio, nav screen, air con, fans etc. All off.
  13. Helpful. I'm sure his sister finds it hysterical.
  14. If your car doesn't have BT then have a good look at Grom Audio. https://gromaudio.co.uk/toyota-lexus-bluetooth-integration-kit.html (guessed at your model) I've used the AUX kit and most recently the BT kit. Doddle to fit and I don't know why I messed around with alternatives for as long as I did.
  15. I think I've mentioned before that I've had Lexus breakdown cover since August 2017. I've had to call them out 3 times! Twice for Saabs and once for a Hyundai
  16. I was just about to post the same thing. Very nice of them
  17. Speaking as someone who has yet to join the ranks of LS owners, my favourite is the MK3. I know the MK4 is supposed to be the "better" car but for me the MK3 has the right combination of looks and model development.
  18. Excellent stuff Nigel. Thank you! Would you mind me putting these up on Twitter? Quite the LS following on there.
  19. I'm afraid not. It's not an off the shelf item. I'd imagine Tony utilises stock parts but you tell him what you want and he makes it. When I got my GS there was already an SS system on but it did drone terribly and I put it down to the tiny back boxes. Took it to Tony Banks and he cut them off and fitted a much larger pair. Set off back down the motorway and it still droned, turned round and Tony replaced the rest of the system including a larger and much quieter centre box. It's lovely now. About as OEM as you can get I'd imagine.
  20. And to you Piers. A good long walk with the kids, roast beef Sunday lunch and a few glasses of wine. It's not all bad.
  21. Can I just point out that SS systems don't have to drone. The cat back system I had fitted by Tony Banks is lovely and quiet. That's what I asked for and that's what I got. I think it's down to the expertise of the fitter/fabricator.
  22. If anyone is tempted to order anything from ECP make sure it's actually in stock at your local branch. They are offering free delivery but if it's not in stock you're looking at a nearly two week lead time. Don't assume that an item will come from the next closest. As far as I can tell if it's not in at your nearest chosen branch it defaults to coming from their central depot via DPD.
  23. You notice it's one guy who seems to be collecting this footage. He helps them out by blurring their plates.
  24. You're just getting older Matt. Look at your speedo. You're not topping 30
