  1. Intriguing link James but I'm struggling to get my head around this particular device. It seem to be an Amazon gadget too far, introducing something in between your phone and your car head unit. That also needs to be permanently plugged in by wire to a power output
  2. Depends on how risk averse the LOC is. Our endorsements could be interpreted as an endorsement by LOC. And though I do occasionally mention Dave I don't recommend or encourage on here anymore. Not because I doubt his work or character but because I don't know the person I could be sending his way. Shall we say people can be strange?
  3. Dave's a star. It's a little known fact that he'll take part payment in Greggs sausage rolls too. He also doesn't mind pointing you in the right direction if you fancy tackling something yourself. His Lexus knowledge is encyclopedic.
  4. You weren't looking at the Vline units were you? Aux adapter kit is about £60 and BT kit is about £120. I've had both and they're very good.
  5. Excellent thread. Cheers Xerxes
  6. Welcome Xerxes! Love to see some pics of your Mazdas.
  7. Lovely stuff You should be able to get a Bluetooth or aux unit from those lovely people at GROM Audio. CD button is the one marked DISC and if you fit the GROM you press it twice to shift between the autochanger and GROM unit. Obviously you get a decent phone function too with the BT unit. The built in BT on my RX was always a little flaky.
  8. Amayama are a good source for new and considerably cheaper than from a dealer.
  9. I'll be honest, I was going to suggest a second opinion.
  10. A little detective work led me to https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts-list/2018-lexus-gs300/power_train_chassis/front_spring_shock_absorber.html Top entry shows the part number you reference but with a revised/newer part number. Put that number in to Amayama and you get this https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/4852080464 Might be a good starting point. I've also got to speak to my parts guy today. I'll run it by him.
  11. As part of my current "inventing things that need doing to the car" mood, I've convinced myself that there's a slight knock at the front and that it's coming from the worn pads shifting on low speed maneuvering. I know... Anyhoo, I've bought some pads and will be fitting them any day now. Never done pads before but I will be following this Any tips much appreciated.
  12. After quite a bit of arsing about with an extremely difficult seller I finally received a second hand mirror in the correct colour. Result! And thoroughly enjoyed fitting it If anyone else attempts this I can confirm as Ronnie said, there's no easy way to remove the back. It's the whole unit or considerable butchery. Luckily I can do the door cars with my eyes shut now so it was an easy swap. Might still have to change the glass but that's easy enough.
  13. Exactly this. I've banged on about this many times re: my GS. Fault codes a plenty that prompted my local Lexus dealership to effectively write the car off. £100 thank you. Took it over to Lex-Tek and Dave fixes it in 20 minutes for 20 quid. Job done.
  14. 5 hours? How many cars did you do?
  15. I'd say yes. That said, you'd still have bother with a 95-05 Merc, BMW, Volvo, Saab etc. I think at this time the Japanese manufacturers were at the top of their game. The new stuff that doesn't involve any cross manufacturer input is still pretty good though. The comment above about the Fiat needing a cambelt after 4 years I find absolutely shocking.
  16. Sticky because the plastic is deteriorating or sticky because they're mucky? If they're just mucky a damp cloth will do it. Maybe with a spray of some sort of interior shampoo/cleaner. Certainly nothing more harsh than that.
  17. You're not alone. I have to put fuel in my GS. Bloody money pit it is.
  18. Back when I had the RX I used these people for some leather and plastic repairs. Very good but a bit far from you unless you're ever over this way.
  19. Interesting. I recall now seeing something like this for RX. Then promptly forgot.
  20. On my GS it's (I think) ignition on, hold info, flick lights between off and sidelights 3 times.
  21. Hi Graham. Agreed, lovely cars. Can't help you source a dash I'm afraid (same as the IS200? considered a plastic repair?) but the sticky finish is unfortunately normal. It's just the plastic deteriorating, my IS300 is starting to do the same.
