  1. If you do this as often as I do it looks like 4 items that need attention or have already been sorted in 4 months and 800 miles and 2 items that have been popping up and getting a mention since 2018. Basically nowt Brake pads and tyres. I used this car as an example of what you can get. Personally, I'd snap it up if I had the cash. That or the other they have for sale.
  2. It is. Though I suspect Ford didn't use a light pressure turbo. Still, noticeably quicker than my GS. I've had a couple of V70s before, last one was in 2016 and the same as this but AWD too. But cost £1.5k more and was not reliable. Loads of niggly faults so I moved it on. This one is a bit more "honest" and at a grand the risk is minimal. I'm running out of stuff to do on the GS so I'm looking forward to sorting this one out.
  3. I put some on my 400h for purely cosmetic reasons. Only had them on for a couple of months because the increased noise was just too much. They were Heko. Can't imagine the Climair ones would be any different.
  4. Personally I'd look at absolutely the best 400h you can find and maybe save a bit of money. If you're patient you'll get an absolutely mint, low mileage, low owner FLSH late 400h for a less than £10k. Personal preference obviously but I'd take a low mileage 400h over a higher mileage 450h. Nothing wrong with the 450h, it's just me. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202006180254952?radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&model=RX 400H&sort=year-desc&postcode=s117aq&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&maximum-mileage=45000&make=LEXUS&page=1 They even pop up on the main dealer forecourts and then you'd also get the bulletproof Lexus warranty.
  5. I can't help it. MY2005 V70 2.5T SE. 150k miles, not been particularly well looked after, £1k. Let the fettling begin
  6. I just wouldn't bother. Buy some expensive wax and make it shiny instead.
  7. I don't want to buy it unfortunately (I can't save them all!), I wondered if we could help with the fault.
  8. What's the ABS fault? How is it making itself known?
  9. Agreed. Disconnecting the battery for a little while would also probably help as the 'problem' is more likely the gearbox. Double check the situation re: immobilisers etc first though. Don't want your next thread to be be "My IS250 won't start". I wouldn't bother with the V Power and cleaner.
  10. A while ago I spoke to a member of the Federation Of Automatic Transmission Engineers http://www.fedauto.co.uk/ I wanted a little advice regarding my GS. Changing the transmission fluid was one of those jobs that everyone on forums bangs on about but is usually (imo) dismissed by dealers and independents as unnecessary. Not only did he say he couldn't remember the last time he'd had to work on a Lexus gearbox but also he was extremely reluctant to recommend fluid changes on a high mileage/older car that had previously no history of such changes. Buy a brand new car and change the fluid every 20k, fill yer boots, keeps everything fresh. But start changing the fluid on a gearbox that has been performing perfectly well for the last 15 years/150k miles and you run the risk of disturbing something the magnets don't catch, especially as fresh transmission oil has additional cleaning properties. He also said flushes were a big no no. I'm just repeating what he said, obviously it's up to Peter. There is a big BUT. Lockdown had just started, I was really bored, so I changed the fluid anyway Oh, and there's another but. My car was only 500 quid and I keep that in mind. If I have to throw it away I'll be upset but it won't be the end of the world. Re: snake oil, air con servicing and transmission fluid changes. Surely if dealers were so keen on relieving you of £££ then they'd offer fluid changes too?
  11. Silver. I'm often tempted by darker wheels but as a friend of mine pointed out there's the danger of it looking a bit murdered out. As the youngsters say
  12. From what I remember of the nav in my 400h I looked here to identify the system installed and then went on eBay. I bought a genuine Toyota/Lexus UK disc from a European seller. Looked like this and cost about 60 quid. Ha!
  13. If it works then fair enough but it's definitely a copy.
  14. All done. Rear pads and discs next And I treated the car to a coat of the well known Fusso Coat Dark. Had it ages, tried on a panel every now and again but always too much like hard work. This time the car has been recently machine polished and along with careful (not too much!) application it looks a treat. I won't put a picture up because they all look identical
  15. Good choice as far as I'm concerned. There's a GS250 that's sat in a corner at my local dealer that I'd have like a shot.
  16. lol Definitely! It has made me realise that I over tighten absolutely everything.
  17. But first, a bit of a wash. Hammering it down outside so it got the Meguiars Waterless Wash & Wax treatment. Might leave it there so it doesn't get dirty...
  18. Slide pins next. Out of the four, one was free, one stuck solid, two quite "tight". Manage to loosen then all up a bit but not ideal.
  19. If you do use an Android phone then you can also get the standalone Android Auto app which offers a simplified view and (I think) voice control. If you're in the habit of keeping your phone on charge in the car you can also have it so the screen stays on while you're driving.
  20. But you don't need the mouse do you? Surely if you have an Android or Apple device then voice control is already there? Google or Siri. And you can even download an Alexa app if that's your thing. Seems an odd item for Amazon to try and sell.
  21. Ended up doing pads and discs. All genuine Toyota/Lexus and what a huge sense of achievement
