  1. Very odd. Now you've topped it up at least you'll be able to check for leaks!
  2. Nope. Definitely inside the car. Imagine holding a wooden tray and placing an object on it. Say your mobile phone. Tilt the tray from side to side and it's that noise. Had crossed my mind. Dave said he'd come across coins etc that had gone down the centre vent but I've had that to bits. And it's a heavier noise. Thinking about the headlining too, unless the back of it is solid rather than some sort of fabric then I wouldn't get the sliding noise either. Argh!
  3. Ha! Once had that on a V70. A 10p dropped down behind the door card when the window was open. Door cards aren't quite as easy to get off on a Volvo as a Lexus! I'll check the door pockets again but there was nothing in them last time I looked. There is a metallic rattle if I tap the headlining above the middle of the rear seat but not sure if that's what's moving. Sunroof operates just fine. It did it again this morning and it sounds like something with some weight sliding on a hard surface.
  4. Something else to keep in mind. This is a similar situation to the one I had with my LS. It was brought over from the Isle of Man in July and while initially it may have been taxed/registered/insured over there (like your Polish situation) the moment you apply to register it here you have to get it MOT'd but can't drive it on UK roads until you receive the V5C from the DVLA. Without the V5C you can't tax it or insure it. I finally received my V5C last week. That's 10 weeks!
  5. Hi Den. Where in the world are you? In the UK I'm pretty sure we didn't get the RX350 as late as that. Horrendously expensive to tax over here post 06. I can also say that in the last 3 or 4 years that I've been browsing Lexus forums I've never come across a 400h that has needed replacement batteries due to fault. Not saying it doesn't happen but extremely unlikely.
  6. Would anyone know how to drop the headlining a little bit as it buts up to the rear window? Absolute last resort but I'm chasing something loose that is sliding about somewhere inside the car and this is just about the last place to look. Checked under the seats, boot floor, under the rear seat base, under the parcel shelf as much as I can see. It slides back when I accelerate and slides forward when I brake. Any ideas what it could be and how I might tackle the headlining if it comes to that?
  7. Managed to find one for sale in the UAE of all places. Quick email exchange yesterday and it's been shipped already. DHL should be delivering Friday. Result!
  8. Bought some for the LS from SGS Engineering. Very good.
  9. Different car but I did just that for my GS300. In fact I did it on my Volvo V70 too. It's easy enough because you barely have to lift the car if at all. With the correct bar and socket you can reach the gearbox sump just lying by the car. I think on the GS I did it about 5 times, can't remember exactly but I got through 2 or 3 5ltrs of fluid and roughly 2 litres came out each time. There are some tables floating about that calculate how much old fluid is left after each time 2 litres is removed. I'll have a scout round. Tip: buy another sump plug. Removing mine that many times it did start to mis-thread.
  10. Sounds like my approach to buying new cars for Freda. Initial purchase and then 3 to 4 weeks messing around with it
  11. If you zoom in you can see the tip remaining on each. Had a conversation on here a while back either about my RX or IS. Can't remember. But both very low mileage but consensus was that you can happily just go on mileage and ignore age. Within reason of course.
  12. Good stuff Bill. And I totally agree with Steve. It would be a shame to lose another older Lexus.
  13. No idea what you're all talking about And this project is far from finished!
  14. Cheers Lee. Had it on the motorway for the first time today too. Super cruiser!
  15. Hi Bill. Do you trust the competence of the MOT tester you used? Unless you've started parking it on the beach it's a little surprising that the corrosion has appeared and ruined the car in 12 months. Some fairly nasty surface corrosion can be found underneath many Lexus of this era but that's all it is. However, a weak point of the IS is the sill at the front of the rear arch. Did they mean this rather than the sub-frame?
  16. And I'm finally legal. Taxed, tested, insured. No more IoM plates.
  17. Another job ticked off yesterday. Changed all the plugs. Eight being a personal record for me. Easy peasy though. These look like the originals to me. I believe the service interval is 60k miles(?) which is spot on but leaving then 24 years is pushing it I think.
  18. Oh no, not at all. The MK3 is by far the better looking car
