  1. Cheers Phil. If it starts to get annoying and I feel a little braver than I am right now I'll have a crack.
  2. Got to love a Lexus warranty. A couple of years ago and 11 months into 2002 IS300 ownership my dealer told me the water pump had a slight leak. Change it then I said, and while you're in there you might as well do the cam belt. Whole job cost me about 40 quid.
  3. Lockdown is clearly getting to you! I'm constantly surprised anyone reads my nonsense. But I can confirm that it's coming from the headlining. Don't fancy removing it though.
  4. One day your Celsior might be worth as much as this... https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1275431
  5. Brilliant. A 3 year warranty. I wonder if BMW and Mercedes offer that?
  6. V8 Carinas were a rare beast indeed. Make sure you do look after yours Steve.
  7. What he said ^^ I had effectively a cat back on the GS at Tony Banks and it was about £600 iirc. Lovely job, I'd speak to him. Tyne and Wear to Leeds is just a trip down the A1 You sit in McDonalds round the corner for an hour or so and job done.
  8. Y section? Do you mean where it splits to the rear silencers either side?
  9. Looks splendid. Love the colour. Interior colour? Mileage? History? Come on Kyle!
  10. I used tape on my LS400 only the other day and it's fine. I've done the same on the GS and IS, both of which have a similar plinth. Trick is to get it as clean as you can and cover the area with cut pieces. Halfords do packs of three strips, I got two packs and cut each piece in half. I use tape because drilling isn't really my thing.
  11. Read on young Fatts! These issues were settled around this time last year and the GS gave sterling service for over 12 months. It's new owner is collecting on Tuesday and I'm sure there are many years left in it.
  12. You're defining stalking now Steve. Shh guys! Stop talking about him!
  13. Cracked it. For the benefit of future generations of LS400 owners it was actually a hybrid (see what I did there?) of the various sets of rub your tummy/pat your head instructions floating around the t'interwebs. (I've amended the text) These instructions work for an LS400 with a build date of July 1996 using remote fob 89742-50631 Happy days 1. Driver's door OPEN and unlocked, all other doors closed and locked. 2. Insert YOUR key in ignition, DO NOT TURN, remove key. 3. Using the lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 4. Shut door. 5. Open door. 6. Using the lock/unlock button ON THE DRIVERS DOOR, slowly press lock and unlock 5 times (count the lock 5 times and unlock 5 times). 7. With the door open insert your key into the ignition, turn to on position (DON'T START), wait 5 seconds. Turn off and remove key. 8. Locks should cycle once (Car will lock and then unlock once). If they don't cycle or they cycle more than once, do steps 1-7 over. 9. Now using the remote, push lock button, hold for one second, release. The locks should cycle once. If not, start over and go slower. 10. Close the door. Open the door. Press the lock button on the remote. The locks should cycle. Close the door. Press the lock button on the remote, the doors should lock. Press again and the doors should unlock. Just to be clear, the references to the button on the drivers door mean the central locking switch NOT the manual locking toggle next to the pull handle mentioned in other instructions out there.
  14. Good to hear. I've previously experienced excellent service from them and a Google review goes a long way!
  15. I can enter programming mode with the car no problem at all but getting it to accept the fob is the sticking point. The bit where you press lock/unlock on the fob at the same time and then lock. The car does react but the fob won't work.
  16. Looks lovely. Welcome! Great thread title too
  17. DVLA are very much blaming everything on the current situation. That said, the guy I bought my LS off was either a complete novice at selling IoM cars or didn't really care. With hindsight (his or mine, not sure) he should have had every document in his hand before advertising it but hey ho.
  18. They still do and I did wonder if there was a connection but Amayama drew a blank. Anyhoo, delivered this afternoon and appears to be genuine. Got to try and match it to the car now. I'd rather not get Lexus to do it.
  19. I also find that since having a camera on my RX parking sensors are a poor substitute.
  20. This was a complete shambles. I have re-ordered from carmats-uk.com and I am much more hopeful. They invited me to their premises in Mansfield where their designer made templates for front and rear carpet mats. Can't beat that. And if anyone else needs LS400 mats they now have the correct sizes.
  21. DHL are delivering today. Astonishing. From the UAE to Sheffield in 3 days. I had a supplier on the phone yesterday blaming everything from Coronavirus to sunspots for why it's taken 3 weeks to get an item from Lincolnshire. Always slightly in awe of real time tracking.
