  1. Don't forget Stuart, pics or it didn't happen
  2. Ooo! Looking forward to this one! I'm not aware of inherent radiator issues or ECU issues on the MKll GS. Could be sun roof drains. Rear ones exit both sides via those tubes and should stick out behind the back wheels. Folding mat (iirc) just rests on the side structure with the spare wheel in the centre with a round storage thing. I think. Don't forget the key and immobiliser can take an age to talk to each other if the battery is disconnected.
  3. I've got one of those. What Lexus don't tell you is that it works perfectly well on an '04 V70 too.
  4. Things are coming along quite nicely. Service items done (oil, filter, air filter, plugs), usual Saab electrical gremlins largely sorted, paintwork given a little bit of attention, wheels refurb'd, vacuum hoses changed, throttle body cleaned etc etc. Still plenty to do though.
  5. The trimming on mine catches my eye a lot. Drives me nuts. I did wonder if it's a part that could be 3D printed but wouldn't know where to start approaching someone or what the cost would be.
  6. I always assumed you meant the black/dark grey plastic bits of trim indicated on the drawings when you've mentioned it before. About 2 inches in depth and comes round from the edge of the wheel arch before tapering off under the grille. In fact I've got a pic of mine where a previous owner has trimmed both sides to even them up presumably after a kerb incident. Yes, unfortunately on our slightly earlier Phase 2s the parts are unobtainium. On the facelift (which I assume Mike has because it's a '98) they are still available. I got very excited when I found out previously but on comparing the two cars I doubt the later parts would fit.
  7. I think Simon is referring to the parts from LPD. And there are only catalogue drawings available. See here and here.
  8. Check the alternator too for signs of damage caused a by a leaking PAS pump. I had crazy dash light behaviour a little while back due to a failing battery which was caused by a failing alternator which in turn was caused by a failing PAS pump.
  9. You mean it's more than you want to pay? And you're hoping you might get one from someone who doesn't know what they've got? Well, stranger things have happened Prices are rising, no doubt about it. If you want one I suggest you act sooner rather than later or be prepared to put some work in.
  10. Here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_GS#Fourth_generation_(L10;_2011) and here https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/chain-cam/ It will also be mentioned in your service book.
  11. A 💙 Like doesn't do that post justice!
  12. Time is something we all have in abundance here. If ever you want to share then post it up. I noticed a few months ago reports that the Falklands are now free of AP mines. Lately cleared by Zimbabwean contractors.
  13. Might be worth you looking at Lexus Roadside Assistance. Bit cheaper than that. I renewed again recently. And @ the OP, certainly no age limit on the vehicle.
  14. I always assumed it was something to do with number of posts. But I'm much more interested in the medal. Something Falklands related? And if you tell me would you have to kill me?
  15. Mark is entirely correct. It's your GP's call.
  16. Something wrong there Malc. They're a fibre crush washer and my Lexus parts department gave me a handful a year or two ago. Should be changed at every oil change. Never had the sump off the IS, GS or LS but did your indy possibly have the sump off and fitted a new sump gasket?
  17. Aux belt does indeed take minutes. Worth changing regardless. I'll be honest, I didn't hear anything unusual in that video. Do you notice the noise when the car is moving and the steering isn't under such load?
  18. Re: the a/c. Just leave it on. Full auto, forget about it. Good to hear you're enjoying the car. Loved mine.
  19. Don't forget to drop the engine and gearbox first. And I strongly recommend a helper to hold the painfully heavy bonnet while you attach the struts.
  20. Straight forward insurance claim through Admiral I'd say. As Steve says, GAP/Asset covers you for something 10x worse (ie a write off) but the others aren't relevant.
  21. Could be wrong but I don't think dealers remove the pins and regrease. If they're seized they replace the whole caliper. Or that's what I recall from a conversation with Lexus Sheffield re: my RX.
  22. Before jumping in I'd advise caution. I'm sure he or she is a lovely person but one post, only joined 6 hours ago and promoting illegal software
