Nicely done Keith If it has been looked after by Lexus Southend I'm surprised they haven't lifted a previous owners leg for a cam belt and pump at least a couple of times. Maybe worth checking their records again? But if there really is no evidence then definitely get it done. Don't buy a car like that and then skimp on the essentials.

Hi Keith. Pictures or it didn't happen Depends when it was last done. If you've no record of it being done or it's over 8-10 years then certainly. Back in October I had the timing belt, aux belt and diff oil changed at a specialist local to me and that was £340.64 No new water pump was required.

I could have written all that about my brand new 2011 E91. The dash was out more times than something that's out a lot. After much polite persistence BMW/Sytner took it back but not until I'd had to put up with a diesel Mini One for I don't know how many months.

Great news! Glad you've enjoyed it. Give me a shout before you sell. You never know LS is pretty lush. An entirely different animal to the RX though. And totally uneventful ownership as you can see from the lack of updates to this thread!

Ha! New username Barry? How is the RX? Never been entirely sure why I sold that. The S-Max that replaced it lasted all of 12 months.

Same as my MK3. But when mine died (probably as a result of the PS pump leaking) I picked up one from Euro Car Parts. Part no. 401820111 Currently available for a shade under 200 quid. -

I do. Lexus hung on to cassette players long after many other manufacturers dropped them. Even had one in my '06 RX. Suits me because I like cassettes! Unfortunately the one in the LS runs a little slow initially. I need to get @steve2006 to have a look at it if he's willing.

Pretty sure the magazines are all the same. The one in my '01/'02 GS was the same as the one in my '96/'97 LS. Can't help you with the adjustment though because my GS had the touchscreen nav.

Not entirely sure about all that but I have a spare amp that I got for my GS300. Never used it in the end but you're welcome to try it for the cost of the postage. Mine was 2001 iirc.

Agreed. I bought one of these recently for the Saab but currently it's in the boot of the LS because there was a bit of condensation in the wheel well. Assuming you don't find a leak it's nothing to worry about. Just builds up through lack of use and the change of weather.

They're not that cheap tbf. Rarity I'd imagine. I bought an extra one off eBay a few moths ago as I don't have a Bluetooth solution I'm happy with in the LS. I got the sleeve, case and CD holder things for £25. Part number is 86273-50050

Could be entirely unrelated but before you go down that road do you leave anything in the car that sends or receives any sort of signal? '05 IS300 is very late but the tech isn't and if I leave my phone in my '97 LS the alarm will be triggered. Phones, sat nav, BT transmitters attached to a permanent live?
