Hi
I have brought myself a new Pioneer avh3100 Stereo/DVD.
Does anyone know where the location of the Handbrake cable/switch located?
I cannot find a guide on this.
On the intruction manuel it says i need to connect the Greencable to the Handbrake switch, but dont know where the Handbrake cable located.
Thanks

many thanks for all the info which is very informative. My worry now is parking place in Zurich which could be hellish. Anyone knows a parking place for rental for say 1 month?
Becareful where you park your car in Swizerland, I got fined CHF 40 for parking with no markings or signs. System is allot difference than it is in the UK. They have different coloured Parking Bays, Do NOT park on the Blue bays, thats for local residents. Any other parking bays is OK. But just in case, ask the Local people there first to make sure its safe to park.

Sorry, about the cost of Toll in France, I cant remember how much i spent, it didnt cost much. but swizerland, it cost me £26! for a Vignette (Tax Motoway Sticker), thats all you need.

I did a trip from London to Zurich a month ago, took about 6 hours from Paris. Cant remember which route ive taken, I just followed my Tomtom. Tomtom did an excellent job.
I took the toll routes, but i notice that most tolls are in France, just one or two in swizerland, but you have to purchase a "Vignette" this is a road tax for swizerland that covers for the whole year and lets you use their motorways. Its a one off payment £26. You can buy a "Vignette" from any Petrol stations in Switzerland. Its well worth it as the roads there are bloody smooth! How the Swiss do it I dont know, France and Swiss has the smoothest roads in the World.
If your using a Tomtom make sure you avoid driving up the mountains. Last time i went from Interlarken to Milan, my Tomtom took me 4000 feet up the mountains as it showed the quickest route, then snow and very thick fog suddenly appeared on the roads, very scary up there, so i quicky turned back before it got dark. So I took the motorway, for few extra hours. all was safe and well.
But dont worry, if your only driving to Zurich. you should be ok. Tomtom will keep you on the motorways.
Here are the touring tips on driving in Switerland

Good luck and Drive saftly.

I know these engines are bullet proof, but what about interior do any of yours rattle or squeak? Since I drive in and around London I’m constantly driving on bumpy roads.

get yourself a zaust from HKS,Apexi etc.. personally i can recomend the HKS Superdrager..
I guess the HKS is the one Im looking for, but wish I could hear it in action before I buy. A video clip would be great!
Since the diameter is 120mm, has any one had problems going over sleeping police men scraping the exhaut.
Check the Blue Flame in my garage, it's 100mm dia and quieter than the HKS
Looks good suits the car well, and bodykit alloys, colour etc.
wheres the best place to buy the Blue Flame?
does it sound similer to a BMW 330? because this is the kinda sound im looking for, just the right amount of level of noise.

I'm surprised you are actually hearing ANYTHING!
Until I changed out the cat back and put on the K&N Typhoon all I got was a quiet purring noise :o
Maybe there is more soundproofing on the IS300!
The IS300 is a much quiteter car compared the IS200, mybe I'll try driving with all the windows open and hear what the sound of the exhaust.

Thanx for your quick reply.
How does the HKS Superdragger sound on the motoway, dont wont anything too intrusive, want the same level as the standard. Or am i asking too much?

Hi
Since my exchange from an IS200 to an IS300 I noticed the tone of the exhaust is not as deep, the IS200 had a nice deep tone below 3000rpm, but IS300 cannot be heard in any revs.
I love the noise of the BMW 330 what exhaust for the IS300 would make it sound similar.

If this car was on the road today it would probably be the best looking compact executive.

what is it with designers these days? Do they just assume that no one opens car doors into other cars now? One week in a car park and the side of this car is going to seriously suffer. I'm not all negative - it looks very grown up but I don't want to yet - shame
I agree with you, dents are going to be easily spotted The doors need some shape to disguise it.
Looks like we gonna need large door protectors.
But I still like the car, probably it will look best in black

I think Im in love cant get my eyes off for 1 min :)

VSC is very good although it backs off the power a bit too much. The new Toyota system, VDIM, hopefully solves that issue.
Its a shame is can not be switched off when you want it to on the IS300

My IS300 is starting to handle very nervously and twitchy on roads at speeds below 60mph, it seems to bump-steer and throw me from side to side when travelling in a straight line, not forgetting to mention the poor tyre wear. Had the thing laser aligned too :duh:
Im having the exact same problem as you it feels loose under 60mph.
apparenty their is a place in Watford called Wheels Inmotion, heard good reviews about them, they will do the allignments for you.

Has anyone heard of Tom Tom Go
It only costs £410 and it’s Fantastic and it’s probably just as good as the ones that cost £1000.

Does the Is200 leather have a protective coating?
Ive just bought Mergiuars Gold Class Leather and Conditioner, but after reading this on the Autopia carcare website below:
There are many different leather cleaners and conditioners available. Be sure to select a leather cleaner and conditioner appropriate for your leather upholstery. Modern leather upholstery is protected with a thin vinyl coating, whereas classic leather interiors are not. Do not use a product designed for uncoated leather on a coated leather finish, as it may quickly ruin the protective coating.
Is Mergiuars Gold Class cleaner and Conditioner safe to use on IS200 Leather?

I hardly get my car above 4000K as 80% is town driving. Anyways it helps me on fuel as petrol prices are high.

I have a slight high pitched whine also....... I wasn't particularly bothered about that though, thats probably just the mesh on the gears (if its the same whine as I think you mean).
Yes I get a Whine noise upto 3000rpm in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. and it seems louder than the engine. like a Mini

Its funny how an IS300 feels alot quicker when its only a 1 sec quicker from 0-60mph compare to the IS200.
I believe it is quicker than the 8.2 it is meant to do. The GS300 has the same time but carries an extra 160kg. The US specs seem to confirm this, the IS300 e-shift does 0-60 in 7.3 and the GS300 in 7.8 so the IS is 0.5s quicker.
However like for like the IS300 is 3 seconds quicker than the IS200 auto.
Looking at both Lexus Websites US and UK
The US spec has more power and torque than the UK
US 215 hp @ 5,800 rpm,
218 lb-ft torque @ 3,800 rpm
UK 211 bhp (157 kW) @ 5800 rpm
212 lb/ft (288 Nm) @ 3800 rpm
Anyways 4 hp difference is nothing really

Its funny how an IS300 feels alot quicker when its only a 1 sec quicker from 0-60mph compare to the IS200.
Is it because the IS300 is easier to accelerate compare to the IS200, where you have to drive it hard and use the gears to get 9.5sec from 0-60mph?
Better low down Torque?
Im gonna test drive a IS300 tommorow while I get my car fixed.

Its ok Ive found the handbrake cable switch, its next to, well the handbrake duh, hidden underneath the centre console. now connected.
I had to partillay removed the top part of the centre console from the astry, so I could run the green parking cable from the new stereo/DVD and wire it to the handbrake switch.
Anyway what the Green parking cable does is use the handbrake like an on off switch or ground, so for example whilest driving/handbrake disengaed, the DVD wont play, but when stationary/handbrake engaged the DVD can play. Obviously this is a safty feature. Ive read on the internet alot of people had bypass this, so the DVD plays whilest the Car is in motion. But why do this!, its dangerous and very distracting! even if its just for your passengers to watch, you just cant ignore looking at the screen, its in front of the driver!
So be safe all you have to do is connect the green cable to the parking brake switch, its very easy to do.
My new DVD/Stereo is a Pioneer AVH-3100 for £279, I purchased from here http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/10919.htm
The sound is brillent even on Stock Lexus speakers! what a difference in quality. excellent bass and treble.
