The bulge on the bonnet, reminds me of an E Type
And its bum, I do sooooooooooo love those lights
-
The bumper on the Polo actually sticks out further under the sensors than they would if you fitted them in the same place on your Lexus. I have had no problems at all with "ghost readings"
If you would like I will scan in the fitting instructions and post on this thread?
-
Yes I would be interested
-
You are right about it being rare in Italy. I have visited 4 times since I have owned my IS and only seen 1 IS in Rome!! (Funny when you think the used Rome for the SC advert)
Maybe things will change once the Diesel becomes available
-
In certain circumstances the car wont start at all, but leave it for a while and it will??!! Also remember you can damage the cat, as a lot of partially burnt fuel gets dumped down the exhaust!
-
To be honest Grangey, that was why I used stick on sensors on the Polo and had Lexus drill the bumper and fit the sensors on the IS, bit of a coward you see, having said that there have been other postings on this subject and it doesnt seem very difficult to remove the bumper anyway. I have read that there is nothing behind the bumper skin but foam.
If I had a new car I think I would be happy to have a go myself. The actual wiring up of the system is a doddle once you have made those bloody holes.

The rings were $72 the clear fogs were $60 and shipping for the lot was $18.95.

Attached is a picture of the sensors on my wifes Polo, as I say these are the non drill type. They are under the rear lights and stick out about 2.5cms

It also robs you of a couple miles to the gallon. I leave it on all the time, so I dont notice either performance or consumption drops.
-
Dont know if its the same on Lexus cars but when I had my Subaru it had a system that when I hit full throttle the aircon was temp. switched off to avoid power drain. As soon as you eased off the aircon came back on. Man was it hot in that car!!!

No worries........ask away. I know it sounds silly fitting them to a Polo but it makes life so much easier trying to get out of a parking bay at night when the back screen is misty etc at your local supermarket!! Also I havent had to have the bumpers resprayed on this car ( glad my wife doesnt read this!!)

Hey Johnny
I see you went for the pen as well
How are you getting on with it?

Is Slough in South Africa!!??
It is getting scary out there..... to recall Hill Street Blues Lets all be careful out there
-
See there is an advert for Quanan on the site now. I fitted these to my wifes Polo, really easy as the set I bought didnt need drilling they fit to the car with sticky tape and because of the shape of the Polo's rear end they dont look odd. Can recommend the product fully.

Recieved my clear fog lights and chrome rings from the States yesterday. Photo attached. Auto Fashion in the States were great, they arrived in 4 working days!!

I took your advice and didnt bother with LEDs even though the website had them available. I am sure we will find away to overcome this problem with normal bulbs
-
I have found the following site
I have ordered..... no fade red bulbs and red bulb covers to see which if any can improve the pink light problem. Dont know how long they will take to arrive, but I will keep you all posted
-
Hey Grim, wont work if they are ribbed!!!
Rob, I will also have a search and post any finds!
-
Thanks Rob
I will give them a miss.
When I was younger ( probably before a lot of you were driving) I had a Cortina MKIII (No laughing) The front indicator bulb was white with like an orange (forgive me) condom type cover over it to give an orange light. I wonder if a similar "device" can be fashioned in red to overcome the pink light problems. I guess I have a job at the weekend!! If I find a solution that works I will let every one know, meanwhile if anyone else comes up with a good workable idea, dont keep it to your selves now!!!

Every time I think of the poor fools who bought BMWs and then paid a fortune to try and spec them even close to Lexus!!
Baa:lol:

I have been reading this with Interest as my clear lenses have just arrived from the US and I am fitting this weekend.
Previous threads have suggested fitting red LEDs to over come the pink light problem. Has anyone tried this? Where did you get the LEDs from? There are several for sale on eBay but I am not sure which ones will fit the car? What is the bulb type/number for the rear fogs?
Thanks

My opinion...................dont do it!!

1 of mine had been kerbed, I had no arguement from Lexus. My wheels were not too bad when I mentioned them to my Dealer and initially they wanted to wait until next year to replace so they would be a lot worse. The Dealer said the Warrenty Compant were not happy??!! I made a fuss!! and quoted the first few lines of the Warrenty Document and the "Lexus experience mission Statement " to Lexus Customer Services who then asked the Dealer to replace which they did. When teh replacements were supplied I was unhappy with the finish of 1 wheel which in fairness Lexus then replaced again.

Touching up the car isnt really a problem just a pain. I posted a message a while back about Autosharp pens from the US they are like felt tips but with your colour paint in them. I find they work well. It is disapointing, that after running a number of German Cars ( Before you shoot me NEVER a BMW!!) with bullet proof paint the amount of chips this car has collected is a shock.
Claire sorry to see you have the Monday blues, soon be the weekend, and you can get out there and give the car a polish!!
