  1. Interesting project [mention=58843]Bempa[/mention] Any more progress made recently ? Can't imagine why anyone would object.

Hello, thank you for your interest, i'm glad that you showing it.

The reason that it have been qiuet is actually that i have been focusing on the workshop and sadly i were not allowed to do a workshop build thread, i have been in touch with the admins and they said only Lexus cars.

But i could probably sneek in a picture or two[emoji16]

  2. Don't think it's the drop link. As I said, there's only one on the front and one on the rear.
    The part in question.

Anyone? And more to the point, is there supposed to be any play in it? I can reach through the gap between the tyre and wheel arch and the movement is pronounced and noisy.

  3. Bloodyhell that needs a build thread of its own! Nice new home for the lexus
Thanks [emoji16] , I really need it to be done before i could do anything body work related to the Lexus.
Yeah i would gladly do a build thread on the workshop build if it's ok with the admins?

  4. [emoji23] i thought it was going to end in a trip to A&E
I really hate that when you can feel it in the whole body the pain that will come when it break loose, but you have no other choice then keep on pulling [emoji23] I'm glad you got it loose with out hurting your self [emoji106]

  7. Something have actually happened, OEM wheels is mounted and rear control arm is replace. Some more cleaning have been done

But first a photo that just show the good side, it´s my motivation pic to keep going

    36502420990_6baed17c85_z.jpg

As seen there i have raised the car up 20mm so its possible to use it without it scraping everywhere
Oem 17" wheels is mounted and a new license plate have been fitted.

Back to some of the things

    36502404260_a8d7722dba_z.jpg

Time did come to replace this little bugger. Bolt was siezed inside of bushing of course, tried all of my little tricks to get it out but it just wouldn´t

    36502402950_3c72aa9612_z.jpg

So started to cut it at that point and removed the arm. No problem there very straight forward with the angle grinder. Problems started when i was trying to cut through the bushing. Only got half way through then the angle grinder wouldnt fit in place no more and hit the rear subframe. And i couldn´t rotate the bushing since it was siezed. So i hade to cut ut so many small pieces i could until it was weak enough to pry of.

    36728386092_7c4670a68e_z.jpg

    Ended up with that :)

    36899070385_74f70bd870_z.jpg

Here you can see it´s almost 1mm of rust inside the bushing thats pressing the bolt stuck in there.

    36090930773_d6b1f89965_z.jpg

Bought a used control arm and some new OEM hardware, fitted it with a generous amount of antisieze on the new bolt :)

    36090927333_e8d13090cd_z.jpg

All back in place and now i got a rear wheel that´s not steering the car anymore and let´s me steer the car instead :)

How can people treat cars like that??? It's almost like it's been stolen a ragged about.

Im so glad it's on the road to repair, well saved old son.👏

    Bod

It´s beyond me why they do it, and it´s beyond my friends why i take on cars like this, i usually tell them it´s like with the women that try to clean up bad guys, but with me it´s bad cars instead. It´s such a statisfaction when the car is clean and nice again

  9. Thanks, the interior was filthy as... I have done a first light cleaning. The front seats are worn and need replacement. But it cleaned up really good and after a second cleaning it will be all good

  10. Well lets try this again,

Hi, this is my first Lexus, but i own some Toyotas. This is a really weird project, I really don’t know why i started this and bought this car. It´s in kind of rough shape and a decent one aint that much money. But I have some plans to learn some new skills and I like the look and handling of the IS200. So that´s my bad excuse to buy me another project car.

This is how it looks , a bit crashed and abused

    Good side

    Bad side

    36674300525_0e012164fc_z.jpg

Airbag light is lit, my guess is that the steering wheel spun around and ripped spiral cable in the crash. I just bought a used spiral cable, replaced it and problem solved

Not a fan of the wheels that were on the car so just got a set of OEM 17” wheels, much better looking.

One of the rear wheels took a hard hit aswell, rear lower control arm has om minor issues, haha

Have not done so much to the car, mostly collecting some parts, I´m in the process of building a workshop at home, and trying to keep the wife happy with some small home improvements so this car get some TLC between everything else
