I took my car in for its first service today and I was told it needed an ECU software update. The dealer then said that they couldn’t do it as they need an external 48 volt power supply which they didn’t have. I have already had the Sat Nav software update done previously so I don’t think it is the same as the one posted in this thread. Has anyone else been told about this or had it done? My car is the hybrid and so it may not apply to the V8. I agree that the infotainment is infuriating to use but the great way that the car drives and the head turning looks make up for this.

I have noticed that on a speed check sign near to where I live that it often shows that I am going 1-2 mph slower than the car speedo is showing. I always assumed that it was the sign that was wrong but maybe it is the car. It would be a similar amount, about 5% difference and so is similar to what you are experiencing.

It may be that the files that you have stored are not in a format that the car can read. I did have an issue where a memory stick that I was using suddenly stopped working. To fix it I deleted everything and then reformatted it on a computer and copied the files back again and it has been fine since then. I think there are a few glitches with the Sat Nav and media player. I had a software update done on mine but that was a few months ago and so hopefully your car should be up to date anyway if it is new.

I had a similar experience when I got mine. There are no discounts available as far as I know. Cars such as the C63/M3 are much faster than the LC. If you are looking for that level of performance then it may not be the car for you. I test drove a yellow one. I don't think that colour does much for the car at all. I have attached a photo of the car I drove. I believe that Reading Lexus have a yellow LC as their demonstrator if you want to see one in the flesh. The lead time when I ordered mine was about 4 months.

I think the two best colours are red and white. I’m not sure about the tan interior though. I have got the white with the red interior which goes together really well. I personally like the 21” wheels. The black and chrome goes really well with the white. I haven’t driven a car with the 20” wheels but the ride on the 21” is fine. The seats are quite soft and very supportive and so it makes it very comfortable.

I had a BMW 640d previously, before getting my LC500h. The BMW iDrive is way better than the Lexus infotainment system. The touchpad is pretty much useless when you are driving. Also, I miss not having a surround view camera as it makes it so much easier to park. The interior lighting is also not very good in the Lexus. Apart from that there are no downsides. I think you will struggle to get any discount. My order took about 3 and a half months.

My tyres are Michelin but I have got the 21” wheels.

I have had the SatNav upgrade done in my car and it fixed some issues but it still shows the car in the wrong place sometimes as you have reported. Restarting it fixes the problem. Another annoying issue is with playing music. I use a USB memory stick and it goes back to the first track sometimes for no reason. Other than that I have had no issues. I agree that the touchpad is useless! I have seen one other LC on the road and so they are still very rare. I have seen people taking photos of mine several times and someone was even videoing it on the motorway!

Thanks for the advice although the rattle seems to have disappeared for now.

I think the wheels look great, especially on the white LC500 as you get the black and chrome contrast. I have had no issues with the door handles on mine and I have not heard of anyone else having any problems with them. I think it is a case of rumours and heresay, usually from people that don’t actually own the car!

I have had mine for a few months now and I'm still struggling with the touch pad. It is pretty much impossible to use when you are driving. Even though I have had my Satnav upgarded there are still a few glitches where it will occasionally freeze and the only way to clear it is to turn it off and back on again. I will be interested to hear what your fuel consumption is like. Even though mine is the hybrid I struggle to get more than the mid to high 20s. I have heard of people getting 11 mpg in the V8!

Now that you have had the car for a while, what are your thoughts?

I think once you have noticed a rattle then you are listening out for it all the time. The worst car I have had for rattles and squeaks was a Mercedes SL500. It was so bad that I had to sell it after 6 months as it just became unbearable.

Hi Chris I wouldn't have expected your alarm issues or any rattles from a top of the range Lexus. It's a bit disappointing really.

Really?! I assumed that everything is covered for 3 years. It didn't do it this morning and it was very mild so I think it is definitely worse when the weather is cold.

The Alcantara seats. It’s annoying as I can’t work out exactly where it is coming from. I think it’s worse when it’s really cold.

My car has developed an annoying rattle that seems to be coming from the passenger front seat. Has anyone else had this? It only seems to do it when no one is in the seat.

No, I haven’t had any problems with mine. Could it be when it is very cold and the mechanism has frozen?

The auto high beam doesn't always work well. It sometimes puts the main beam when it shouldn't and can be slow to dip with oncoming traffic. I have had this feature for years on BMWs and their system does work better. The track pad can sometimes be a bit infuriating but I guess anyone getting the car will already know about this. The same with not having any buttons for the seat heaters, although they seem to work reasonably well in auto mode. Finally, I had an issue with music being played in the wrong order on albums using a USB memory stick. I have got round this by selecting folders rather than albums and that seems to work. The LC is a great car in a lot of ways, especially the looks but sometimes doesn't have the slickness of the German competition

Have you heard anymore on your car? Have you got it back yet? If there is that much work to do to correct the problem, I would be tempted to ask them to take it back and supply you with another car.

That’s terrible, I wouldn’t be very happy either. If they take out all the interior that’s a major job. I hope you don’t have any squeaks or rattles afterwards. Why do they need to replace the glass? I have noticed something in the small rear side windows that looks like an antenna. It’s hard to see due to the privacy glass, maybe that is the sensor? I hope you get it fixed soon. I haven’t had any issues with the alarm on mine.
