  1. Hi I don't know if any of you have experienced this problem yet. I have a Lexus IS250 2006 model which i purchased from new. I went to open the door and it seems like the mechanism inside the door has given way. I can still open the door from the inside but just that door is not always locking with the key and the outside sensor on the handle has also stopped working. I dread to think how much it will cost to repair. If someone has had this fault and had it repaired can you please let me know how much it cost? Thanks. It was only a couple of weeks ago it cost me £380.00 for a new water pump. TIP; As mentioned my car is eleven years old and black. It was looking rather dull, some panels worse than others. I purchased a Turtle black box which consists of pre-wax, spray and polish with clothes. It is amazing, after two days of hard work it looks like a new car. Money well spent.
  2. Hi, I have a Lexus IS250 that i purchased new in 2006. I complained about the alloy wheels on the car as they started to bubble after about four years. They refused to do anything about it even though I had noticed a lot of people complaining about the problem on the net. It is a great car but such a shame that it isn't treated as a recall and the wheels replaced. The other manufacture defect seems to be the that the wiper blade lower arm also bubbles and the paint flakes off. Keep an eye out for that! Pleased to hear that they dealt with your complaint but as i said such a shame it is only the lucky few.
  3. I am in the Channel islands. In the past i have owned a couple of Saab's, Volvo's and Jaguars and would also say that the Lexus was a step up. That's why I am so disappointed about the cost cutting in the design and finish of the car. Funny enough I have twice taken a BMW for a test drive and never purchased one as the salesman both times treated me like i couldn't afford one. Little did he know. Like you, until two years ago the back seats have never been used. The family have grown up and I would never let the dog in the car. But with the car being worthless due to the age I have now given my dog the back seat to enjoy. Just come back from two weeks touring around Cornwall and the car was great. Only to find on my return home that the back carpets and mats were full of water due to the A/C being blocked. When i took the car into the garage in 2014 about the problem they didn't believe me. I am sure they thought I was leaving the windows open!! And they still want £80.00 to look at the car to confirm it is the A/C causing the problem. No way am i paying that as I know that is the fault. Very frustrating. Wish you luck with the BMW. Enjoy.
  4. Hi I purchased my black Lexus IS250 from new and it is my pride and joy. I have looked after it over the years and always had it serviced. I have noticed a few people posting what looks to be common problems with this model. I thought i would list mine. Paint bubbling and flaking on alloy wheels. / Wiper arm paint flaking off. / Paint bubbling on the front edge of the bonnet. / Broken boot catch. / Air conditioning blocked and leaking into the rear passenger foot wells. / Very sticky front dash. / Paint work seems to scratch very easy. I am hoping to keep the car for as long as i can. Any other faults that you have experienced that I should be aware off? With the car being 11 years old, I was advised during my last service that they noticed some rust to the floor pan. How long should the exhaust system last? Cheers
  5. Hi I have a 2006 Lexus IS250 and I am confident that the air con is blocked as I keep getting water on the rear floor carpets. Lexus dealer wants £80.00 to check if that is the fault. How can this be checked and could i do it myself?
  6. Hi Can anyone help? I have a 2006 IS250 and had no problems with the car during its first five years. After that period of time i noticed that I had a condensation problem on occasions and noticed that the rear passenger carpet and mat was damp. Thinking that I had left the window open or something similar, I dried it out and thought nothing more of it. It happens a few more times and I took it to the dealer who tested the car for leaks. None was found. With me being retired and trying to save as much possible, I have had the air conditions switched off as i only take short journeys in the car. I have not had a problem regarding this for about three to four years. Went on holiday with the car and have been doing some high mileage over the two weeks. Had the air conditioning on due to the outside temperature being 25 degree. Came back from holiday and noticed the windows steaming up that evening. Next day I went to clean out the car and was vacuuming the rear area when i felt the rear carpet and it is soaked. Looked in my cleaner (which is now probably broken as water was inside the motor). I took out the mats and water was dripping from them. The two rear carpets are full of water. We had no rain at all whilst on holiday. The only difference has been the higher mileage and the air conditioning being on !!! Has anyone else had this problem and know how to cure it? Is it a design fault? Thank you.
