Lexus "Value" Service pricing?
wharfhouse replied to Maxz's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes the multimedia system is excluded (as it is on Relax). However, depending on what fails it might be covered if the failure stops other things working correctly. I don't know why multimedia systems are excluded fron Relax and the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty unless they are worried about people doing something to them that would damage them in some way. -
Lexus "Value" Service pricing?

It's at least as good and in some cases better than the Relaz - it also includes Lexus Roadside Assistance on the price. -
IS300h 3rd gen loose armrest

You just pull the old ones out and push the new ones in. If you are talking about the material then that's call anti rattle or ant squeak tape and is self adhesive. You can get that on ebay etc or most cat accessory places will sell it. -

The US seem to have plenty of online parts for Lexus - just put the part number into one of those websites and you should find them. -
Lexus "Value" Service pricing?
wharfhouse replied to Maxz's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Since the Lexus Essentials services were stopped there have been no official reduced cost Lexus services for older vehicles. It could be the dealer is offering something themselves - it would certainly be interesting to hear what that is - and which dealer. -

It looks like you have the same problem with one or other of those missing. Have a look under the armrest to see if the little rubber cushions are in place at the front of the armrest - on mine they had broken off through wear and tear - the plastic plug was still in the arm rest but the rubber has broken off. See the rest of this thread for all the details of changing them etc. -

Flat Battery Experience
wharfhouse replied to guinchy's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
The charger looks fine - doesn't need a lot of power for a hybrid. As for the negative lead, I don't have the same car so difficult to judge, but any unpainted bolt that goes into the chassis should work ok if you can't reach the designated point. -
Lexus IS300H TPMS sensor problem
wharfhouse replied to Mobin's topic in Lexus IS200 / Lexus IS300 Club
BTW you have posted this in the IS300 forum (the model from many years ago) rather the one for IS 300h - if you repost there you may get more replies. However, on the issue, as per the manual, having reset the tyre pressures cold to the correct pressure and reset the TPMS, have you then driven the car for about half an hour to see if the TPMS light goes out. If it doesn't them there is a TPMS failure in the car which will probably mean a visit to Lexus to diagnose. -

Just connect the jump starter to the battery (or the 12V connection points - there is a positive in the engine bay and negative is a point on the chassis) following the instructions on the unit and then push Start as normal. -
I wonder why this petition isn't mentioned by those from the media interviewing members of the government when they keep repeating the same spiel (at least none of the interviews I have heard recently)?

So long as you do an hour or two each weekend you should not have any problems. -
Is300h Fsport MOT (NCT) fail , rear discs
wharfhouse replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I'd double check whether the rears in particular need doing on a 2020 car unless you do a lot of mileage or use the brakes particularly heavily. On my 2014 IS 300h the fronts disc pads had done 80k miles and had life left - did them as I needed new front wheel bearings. At 150k miles I had a seized rear caliper so had to have discs / pads changed after the caliper change but if the caliper hadn't seized there was still quite a lot of meat on the pads / discs. -
The Prius plug in is available in the UK

2020 - 2021 people were expecting that the facelift IS would be introduced very soon and so wouldn't be buying the run out model. That was my rationale - I was waiting to see the facelift model. But it never came to the UK. It may have been demand would have increased sales again at that point - but we will never know.

Although the Gen 3 hybrid in the IS doesn't stay in EV to as high a speed as the more recent hybrids, having driven a few of the newer hybrid models TBH I didn't feel there was a significant difference other then the slightly higher speed EV, but that is mainly on trailing throttle. The Gen 3 hybrid in the IS still returns an easy 48 mpg average over mixed motorway, A road and urban driving for me despite my car having now covered 151k miles - in fact the average mpg has not changed in the 8 years and 110k miles I've been driving mine!

Another car that is priced too high IMHO
-
Totally agree - the IS hit the sweet in size for me at the time between the CT and the GS. I had a BMW 3 series before the IS - again because it was the right size for my needs. There is a huge hole in the Lexus lineup now which means I'm keeping my current 2014 IS (which I bought at two years old and which I've had for nearly 8 years now and it's on 151k miles) for the foreseeable future.

When I've had a courtesy car due to a recall or warranty issue then the dealer has waived the £15 insurance excess fee. Also they have waived it for other reasons too as their own goodwill - so it is very dealer dependant whether they choose to actually charge this or not.

Flat Battery Experience
wharfhouse replied to guinchy's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
I think you are getting overly worried about this. If you keep a 12V lithium jump starter pack to hand then should the 12V battery be depleted (for example using electrical accessories without the car in Ready mode or leaving it for a few weeks without starting it) you will be able to start the car without any problem. The chances of completely depleting the traction battery are so remote so long as you drive the car normally and don't leave it in N in the Ready mode for a long time (or run out if petrol - not sure what happens then) the the car will manage the traction battery so as to not to leave you stranded (unlike an EV the ICE will always come on and recharge the hybrid battery). -

Thanks for clarifying - I didn't put that part very well in my message. -

If the car is in Ready mode the traction battery will provide all power needed for electrical items including starting the ICE as needed. The 12V battery will also be charged from the traction battery when the car is in Ready mode. The ICE will also be started to recharge the traction battery as needed. So the only kinit6on how long the car can remain in Ready state is when the petrol runs out. The 12v battery takes over providing all electrical accessories (radio, lights etc) if the car is not in Ready mode or the car is left in N (so always leave it in P or D when stopped and never N and if sitting in the car or doors are open always start it into Ready mode if any electrical items are on for any length of time - even interior lights). Any 12V battery has a limited capacity and all cars draw some current when left such as the car alarm etc. Hybrid batteries tend to be a bit smaller as hybrid cars need less capacity for normal usage. But if the car is used regularly (eg at least once a week for a couple of hours a week) you will have no problem with the 12V battery. My IS 300h is nearly 10 years old with 150k miles on it and still on the original battery. My wife's Yaris is 5 years old with 20K miles and still on the original battery. Both cars have no issues but are at different ends of usage but even the Yaris gets used once a week. -
That's great to hear and just shows how bad many of the tyre places are at alignment. If the alignment has been out for some time and new tyres are not put on the car when it's been done properly there can be some residual error that's down to uneven tyre wear. It may improve over the next months or may not be completely right until new tyres are fitted.

I agree I wouldn't be happy with the problems you mentioned, but for me all I can add is my personal experience to balance out views - I bought my car from Lexus Reading (Jemca) 8 years ago and since then had everything it's needed done by Lexus Reading - so 11 services, MoTs, tyres and some repairs (mainly warranty) and a body shop repair (undertaken at the Jemca bodyshop in Bracknell). I have only ever been treated in the best possible way. Never pushy for more work and in fact advised against needing some work when I asked them to check some things for me, and also not charging me for some investigations I asked for. They wash the car each time it's in and the paintwork is in surprisingly good condition for its age. I've watched them washing cars and they use a foam lance. We also bought a new Toyota 5 years from Jemca Toyota next door and again been very happy with the way we have been treated there too. In previous marques dealers I moved multiple times because of problems and so I wouldn't hesitate to move on if I felt poorly treated. I hope you have some better experiences I the future as I know how frustrating it can be when dealers don't treat you as a valued customer, whatever you need from a spare part to a new car.

That to me would have been the most sensible solution and if RR had done the right analysis first just maybe she would have come to the same conclusion in terms of what it would actually save - but of course she didn't and just made an unfounded change to the detriment of many. Given Liz Truss' short lived reign, what RR is doing is at least as bad if not worse - but in this case she is virtually unassailable unless enough Labour MPs got behind those already voicing their concerns but can't see that happening unfortunately...
