MPG for Lexus IS300h F Sport Owners
wharfhouse replied to agent_dess's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I use Eco and cruise control on the motorway and IIRC that's what Lexus recommend for best fuel consumption. In these high fuel prices I set the cruise at an indicated 75mph (which is actually about 70mph as the speedo overeads by nearly 10%). Also leave plenty of space to avoid braking unnecessarily and accelerate smoothly and reasonably briskly up to speed (so not too slowly as that is actually worse for fuel consumption). I did a 300 mile journey from Berkshire to Cumbria last week and my overall fuel consumption was 55mpg (on the car computer) - this was with my wife, a dog, and boot full of luggage. Traffic was reasonably light so I was able to maintain a constant speed for long periods. I was using Sainsbury's 97 super unleaded fuel (I have 17" wheels however). Let us know what you achieve. -
Sat Nav with rotary dial isn't premium nav but the standard nav as I have that on mine along with the 7" screen
-
To confuse matters more I believe what was included for a particular name of specification (like Luxury) was different between the UK and other Euro countries which I think included Ireland so be careful looking at any past specs and make sure that they were for Lexus in Ireland. However, whatever the spec, enjoy the car.

MPG for Lexus IS300h F Sport Owners
wharfhouse replied to agent_dess's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Based on the official emissions data then the difference between 17" and 18" should be about 5% - so that should make a difference of about 2 to 3 mpg. -
Lexus 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty

No, I haven't personally heard of anything being claimed under the Relax warranty to date, only the odd post on this forum. -
Lexus 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty
wharfhouse replied to wharfhouse's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
That would be my reading of the wording - the words are taken directly from my 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty. I meant this the exclusion on the Multimedia system in the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty is additional to the old Extended Warranty T&Cs (which did not exclude the Multimedia system). Hope that makes it clearer. -
Lexus 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty
wharfhouse replied to wharfhouse's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I think you may have to ask Lexus about those specific circumstances - I would think that you'd need a full Lexus service first to check all is in good shape as a minimum and for an Extended Warranty to remain valid the car has to continue to be serviced by Lexus. -
61.41mpg on ES300h in 880km journey!
wharfhouse replied to Gearoidmuar's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
I'm sure ESSO super unleaded will give improved mpg over their E10 but it's also a lot more expensive then their E10 so in that case may not work out more cost effective - with Sainsbury’s fuel the Super Unleaded is more cost effective as it's not too much more expensive than their E10. My car has just under 120k miles on it and simply been serviced by Lexus on schedule - so nothing special. I have 225/45 R17 tyres. Agreed it's a real shame there is no more IS in the UK. Looks like I'll be keeping mine for a while longer... -
61.41mpg on ES300h in 880km journey!
wharfhouse replied to Gearoidmuar's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
Just gone from Reading, Berkshire to Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria in my IS 300h (with wife, dog and boot full of luggage - including a stop off near York to see family) - cruised the motorways at true 70mph (on dash that's 75mph) and stuck to speed limits of A roads. Average for the journey on the trip computer is 55mpg. This is using Sainsbury's Super Unleaded that in the past few months I have found is giving me some 10% better mpg than Sainsbury’s E10 - and the Super Unleaded only costs about 5% more than their E10 too. -
Went past there yesterday and at the BP garage there was a queue out on the road! Don't understand what's going on - the BP has always been either the same as or usually a couple of pence more than Sainsbury’s... In fact it's been quite a bit more than Sainsbury’s over recent weeks. Suddenly the BP is the cheapest around the area - the Sainsbury’s is still one of the cheapest but don't understand how BP suddenly undercut them unless someone somewhere had been overcharging all along... 🤔

As everyone else has said that all looks absolutely normal. For the first few months with my IS 300h I used to watch the display but don't bother any more. When I do occasionally have a look out of curiosity it's still working the same as ever and mine is now nearly 8 years olds and done 120K miles. If you start seeing your mpg drop significantly that would be the time to question whether everything on the hybrid side is working ok, but otherwise just enjoy the car. I would have thought on the type of commute you mention that you should be getting around 50mpg at this time of year. If you get the car serviced by Lexus (each 12 months / 10K miles whichever comes first) they will do a hybrid health check as part of the service which also means your hybrid traction battery can be warrantied for up to 15 years (no limit on mileage)so long as you do this every 12 months/10k miles, or you can pay for the hybrid health check at a Lexus dealer separately (around £60). You don't mention the age or mileage on the car, but if serviced by Lexus the included (free) Relax Extended Warranty will also take you to 10 years or 100K miles (whichever comes first) and if you want further peace of mind after that you can purchase an Extended Warranty (though has to continue to be serviced by Lexus) for up to 15 years / 150K mile old (for around £500 per annum). Yes, on closing the boot lid mine also sounds rather tinny/rattley - have just ignored that - the rest of the car is well screwed together though.

Fair enough when you are in that sort of price bracket - but when I compare what something like a ICE/Hybrid £35k car costs against the equivalent BEV I'm looking at something like a 50% uplift which takes it off the table for me
-
Not sure how much the BEV uplift costs over traditional ICE/Hybrid is real or manufacturers finding a way to reset a price point and hence profitability. At the moment a 50% uplift for in essence a BEV version of what was previously ICE/Hybrid is something I'm not prepared to pay, especially when we are told there are significantly less components in the BEV so they should be cheaper to manufacture... Long may my IS 300h keep running until some sense returns to the nee car market!

Would IS200T make more sense for me than IS300H?
wharfhouse replied to boyo's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
As the IS 300h is a hybrid there is special clause (alterative fuelled vehicles, which includes hybrid) and they receive a £10 deduction on the standard rates in the table, so it takes the £20 back to £10. -
Same with mine - September 2014 reg - has the Standard Nav (not Premium) and still on original 12V battery - when my 12V battery needs replacing I plan to use my Lexus dealer just in case... worth spending a bit more for peace of mind,

Refiners are also making a killing adding to the overall high prices at the pumps: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61750251

I once used neat coffee maker descaler on a very badly hard water stained shower glass panel and it came up sparkling. Other household cleaners hadn't really touched the problem. You'd probably need to protect any paintwork etc. though. I also once tried to polish a scratch out of a windscreen with jewellers rouge but it left an area that was very slightly "milky" in appearance - however willing to admit that might have been my lack of skill in using it!
-
I think a lot of people probably aren't aware of the measures that can be taken - but as I think someone said previously the car manufacturers aren't keen to say much either as it makes their tech look vulnerable... I had a friend some years back who had a brand new BMW X5 stolen - suspected keyless entry. Through a mix up he hadn't fitted the tracker his insurance company had demanded and so they didn't pay out either - very expensive omission...

DAB Radio & Cruise Control
wharfhouse replied to Javed's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
DAB Radio is pathcy especially in hilly areas - depending on the stations you are listening to the FM Link functionality will automatically switch between the DAB channel and FM channel seamlessly if DAB is dropped. -
When E10 came out I found no difference to the old E5 in my IS 300h - in fact in some circumstances it seemed to give better mpg. I do around 15k miles per annum and virtually all my fuel comes from a local Sainsbury's so I have a decent base for making comparisons. Over time I have noticed the mpg falling using the new E10 compared to previous years with the old E5 on the same journeys and conditions - maybe the full E10 ethanol percentage starting to be come through...? A couple of months ago I went to get E10 from Sainsbury’s but it had run out so had to get super unleaded. I filled the tank (I was on virtually zero miles left at the time!). I was surprised to see a noticeable jump in mpg. Now, Sainsbury's super unleaded is only around 6p more per litre than their regular E10. I have now done a few more tankfuls with Sainsbury's super unleaded and the mpg is back to or exceeding what I used to get with the old regular E5. I am now seeing around 10% better fuel economy than the new E10 (and that's taking as much of the journey and weather variances into account as I can). Given that the Sainsbury's super unleaded is less than 5% more expensive than their E10 this is at worst breakeven and at best I'm saving using super unleaded. I know many of the branded fuels charge a lot more for super unleaded compared to E10 so the same would not necessarily apply but I've now switched to the Sainsbury's super unleaded permanently. In addition the car is definately a bit quieter and smoother on super unleaded though whether performance is any better I can't say - in general due to the high fuel costs I'm more in an eco mind set at the moment...
-
I've had mine around 4.5 years and a couple of weeks back thought I'd try and see if it was still working and found that all was well - car wouldn't open even with the pouch with the keys in right next to the door.

Is300 good independent in Bristol
wharfhouse replied to Tony Block's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Agree with Linas as above and also: Lexus (through the dealers) have a hybrid health check that offers 15 year unlimited mileage warranty on the battery if done every 10k miles / 12 months (whichever comes sooner) - free with a service or something like £60 if done separately. If servicing the car at Lexus you get the free Relax Warranty up to 100k miles / 10 years (whichever comes first) but in addition after that you can pay for a 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty (also for under 10 years old but over 100k miles) that is around £500 a year (it can be paid monthly interest free and includes Lexus breakdown cover worth around £130 which would be extra under the free Relax Warranty) and can be renewed until the car is 15 years or 150k miles old (whichever comes first) - the car has to be serviced at a Lexus dealer to the maintenance schedule for this to be valid though. If you use Lexus dealers for servicing you can also take out a service plan that fixes your service costs for eg 2 years and you can pay for it monthly. Depending on how you acquired the car and it's history it may need a full Lexus service / inspection before some of the above can be put in place, but sounds like you are looking at doing something like this anyway. A few more things there to consider depending on your own views and appetite for risk etc.
