  1. There are plenty of us like myself who are small businesses that don't run a "company" car (i.e. paid by the company and pay BIK) but simply claim the pence per mile on a private car. As I could be travelling anywhere in the country then there is a good chance that I would need to do a rapid charge at a service station or similar whilst away and so the overall cost per mile of running an EV would not be so far away from running the IS 300h. As a small business I stay overnight at budget inns and again very, very few of these have any charging capability - and when they do finally invest I wonder how much they will be charging to recoup those costs?
  2. Yes, now costs more per mile to run EV over petrol/diesel if you rely on paid for charging stations like at the service stations - still cheaper (for now) to charge at home than petrol / diesel but for those of us who do relatively long journeys it doesn't make so attractive anymore...
  3. Just need to remember that to cover the nominated partner you need to fill in the form in the booklet with their details and post it back to Lexus - they will then receive their own card (at least that was the case back in November last year).
  4. This is a piece I wrote when I took out my 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty last November (my car is a 2014 IS 300h but it went over the 100K miles last November) with quite a bit of detail about what it is and what it covers etc. I use Jemca (Reading) and my experience is that Jemca seem to be well versed in this.
  5. Yes I have the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty and it is comprehensive (as per the post above including all the Hybrid tech) and actually better than the Relax Extended Warranty in some areas and certainly no worse. Mine does include full breakdown cover too but this wasn't in the document pack about the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty but came through the post separately a couple of weeks later. I did call to query when I didn't get it with the initial extended warranty docs and they said it would follow later and it did. My guess is that the Extended Warranty is administered by TWG Services but the breakdown is provided by AA and so the two docs get sent from different places. You may get offered the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty when your car is 10 years old {or 100k miles if sooner) but don't rely on that as not all dealers seem clued up about it and so I would raise it about a month before your 10 years is up so you have time to put it in place so you have no gap from the Relax warranty expiring and the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty being in place. It can also be paid in monthly installments interest free which I like as I then have the service plan extended warranty both as monthly payments which spreads it all out nicely. Here is a link to a post I made about the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty just under a year ago:
  6. Yes, that's also inline with the new full / intermediate simpler service pricing that was introduced - clearly something amiss with the online service plan system on teh website and how that is handled at the other end by the look of it!
  7. Having a service plan - at least at my local dealer - gives a discounted MoT and also discounts on any parts needed outside of the service - things like windscreen wipers and 12v batteries etc. as well as brake discs/pads etc. - even including tyres. My local dealer is always cheaper than any local tyre places like for like. Always worth asking for quote from your dealer when you need something as contrary to popular belief, they can sometimes be very competitive or even cheaper than other sources. And you can build a relationship with the dealer staff sometimes that can help smooth the way with more problematic issues when they see you visiting on a regular schedule. just my 2p worth - as always YMMV...!
  8. That all sounds a lot more sensible than the £1,200 quote for two years that you had through the website and more inline with what others are paying. Out of interest, is that two full and one intermediate or the two intermediate and one full service?
  9. It was my local Lexus dealer that put my service plan together towards the end of last year as my previous one came to an end - Emac administer the plan (from collecting payments etc) but I have always gone through the dealer to set it up. The service plan shouldn't cost more than the individual services that are included (and may be a bit less as people here have commented) - the plan is a nice way of locking in the service prices going forwards and paying monthly rather than service by service. I still think that something is broken between the service plan quotes on the website and the new pricing model from Lexus so I would highly recommend building a relationship with your local Lexus dealer and discussing the plan with them where you can sit face-to-face and understand what they are offering.
  10. Yes that's the "old" pricing - I would ask why the new pricing as is on the website wasn't used in the quote. The MoTs would be extra either way and are the same as I pay.
  11. Yes agreed - I always arrange my service plan (and 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty) at my local Lexus dealership. That way you have someone to actually explain it if you have a query etc. - not sure you can always get a better price (or I'm not a good negotiator...) but building a relationship with them seems to have stood me in good stead when other things have come up in the past.
  12. That's interesting - I've just been through pricing a service plan for a 100k and 110k service on my IS as a test using the Lexus website and indeed it quotes just over £1,200. It uses the "old" service prices (i.e. the ones that are priced differently based on mileage) rather than the new simple full/intermediate pricing. I wonder if the quote system on the website has been updated in line with the new pricing structure. Maybe a visit to your local Lexus dealer is in order?
  13. That's a good price - my renewal fell between the reduced price Essentials Servicing being curtailed (which I had been using previously) and this new simple pricing that is now on the Lexus website. However, for my plan with three services, two full (120k miles which includes spark plugs and 140k miles) and one intermediate (130k miles) I have just checked and I am paying £1,400 (I pay monthly which suits me) and so £1,200 does seem too much even on the "old" pricing.
  14. Well Lexus service prices according to their website (which should be the same nationwide at a Lexus dealer) for the IS are: £290 intermediate / £550 full. There is no differentiation now for mileage - just alternate between intermediate and full every 10k miles / 12 month (whichever come first) - so unless your service plan includes other things (like MOT) then I would have expected it be £840, especially if you have only just taken it out as the new service prices have been on the website for a few weeks at least now.
  15. Not sure about the NX but on my IS 300h wear on the inner of the rear tyres is normal due to the way the cars are setup and so unless excessive wear it's nothing to worry about. I replace rears when about 3mm left in the centre of the tread though the inners are a bit less than this. If you do want them adjusting it will need a full 4 wheel alignment doing. Cost will be some £100. Worth seeing if anyone local to you on here has a good recommendation as many tyre places will make matters worse (I speak from multiple experiences with previous cars...)
  16. That's interesting - might renew my Costco membership if they do!
  17. Thanks for contacting Lexus CS and getting clarity on this. No ambiguity going forwards now.
  18. Relax does not include Roadside assistance - this can be purchased from Lexus for I think £130. The 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty does include Roadside assistance.
  19. If you get the car serviced by Lexus (every 10k miles or 12 months whichever comes first as per the service schedule) then it receives a free extended warranty called Relax. This lasts until the next service is due. This will continue at each service done by Lexus until the car reaches 100k miles or 10 years old (whichever comes first). After 100k miles or 10 years you can purchase something called 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty that costs about £500 per year. This can be purchased each year until the car reaches 15 years old or 150k miles (whichever comes first). For it to be valid the car must continue to be serviced on schedule (every 10k miles or 12 months) by Lexus. It also includes Lexus breakdown assistance for the year (worth £130 if purchased separately) that is not included with the Relax warranty. The Hybrid battery also receives a separate free 10k mile / 12 month (whichever comes first) hybrid health check with each service done by Lexus that warranties the hybrid battery until the next service is due and can be done until the car is 15 years old (no mileage limit) or this can be purchased separately (£59 I think each 10k miles / 12 months whichever comes first) if you have the car serviced outside the Lexus dealership.
  20. That's why I actually think - at least for me - the Lexus 10 year plus extended warranty is such good value! £500 per annum and that includes full breakdown cover for owner and partner driving any car - that alone is over £100 of the warranty so the actual cost is only around £400 per year. And it can be paid monthly interest free. For me I'm pleased Lexus offer it and have no hesitation in taking it out. As always we must all make our own decisions based on our own personal circumstances - no rights or wrongs.
  21. I don't disagree that Lexus are probably the most reliable brand but they do occasionally have an issue. Yes the forum isn't littered with reports of problems like some other brands but there are reports of occasional problems and they do tend to be expensive to fix, at least if you want to entrust it to Lexus - even parts can be very expensive and can often only be sourced through Lexus. As I said it's all about personal choice and if people are happy to run a Lexus without any extended warranty then that's fine by me but I think it would also be negligent not to point out the options that exist for those who might prefer paying a small amount of money for peace of mind, especially if they found out about it all later following an expensive repair.
  22. Don't know but not had any issues with them to date - car is now 8 years old and 121k miles. Had new discs/pads on the front at 80k miles and rears are still originals.
  23. But they do still sometimes go wrong - depends on one's appetite for risk...
  24. Personal choice - for me I've had an extended warranty since I bought the car at two years old in 2016 (before Relax came in) and have made two claims in that time - one for a screen wash sensor (that was quoted to me as £400 for Lexus to fit a new one) and the other for both front wheel bearings at 80k miles (not sure what that would have cost but wouldn't be cheap in comparison to a year or extended warranty). No arguments about either - Lexus handled everything for me. As such I consider the extended warranty (which includes full uk/euro breakdown for both my wife and I) a cost worth paying (I would get the car serviced by Lexus anyway). But YMMV - always a personal decision - there is no right or wrong.
  25. Yes that's always a good point, I have mine every 10k miles with the service as I do around 15k miles a year. I'll be interested to hear what you find out too - my 10 years plus extended warranty (this was the first year of it) will be due for renewal in November. This link describes what is done / covered with the hybrid health check: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-hybrid-health-check-2/
