@First_Lexus great news Ed. In my opinion only the best car manufacturers would replace with a brand new car. As you are aware Honda replaced my CR-V after 11 months of DPF trouble. That is one reason whilst like you the NX really suits my needs, I will never “knock” Honda.

Enjoy your new Lexus when it arrives, and many miles of trouble free motoring in it.

Delighted to hear it EdAs I said earlier I know what you have gone through but thankfully it seems that the wait has been worth it! Remember I had to wait 11 months for a resolution with my first CRV and even then I really swithered as to “do I stay with this marque or not!

@First_Lexus Hi Ed - once again I know what you are going through. IMHO on a car at that price and mileage with it being in Lexus hands for so long and again now, I think it would be advisable to reject the car before any other issues arise. The freebies you are receiving are only sweeteners so you keep the car.

If Lexus replace the car FOC it would really confirm them to be the superior car manufacturer that they are.

You will recall it took 11 months for Honda to replace my CRV - but they did so and I will always praise Honda for doing so and also, the quality of the CRV. I bought the NX as Honda did not manufacture a hybrid CRV at that time. I believe this is coming next year. I certainly have no complaints with my NX.

Perhaps the RX wasn't noisy - it was just noisier than I expected on the motorway, being not significantly quieter than my NX Sport. It was an F-Sport, and as with the NX F-Sport I had, I feel I would prefer the softer (and quieter?) nature of a Luxury model.

I agreed with Lexus that I wouldn't say much about the fault with my NX. What I will say is that it was a surprising defect - especially on a Lexus - that should have been spotted at the factory. It also took a while for Lexus and Lexus Swindon to work out what the issue was, mainly because they'd never seen a manufacturing fault like it before. It was relatively minor though, and I agreed to keep the car (because I like it) and accept goodwill rather than seek a replacement - and the replacement option was discussed. Now it's fixed, that seems to have been the right decision. Fingers crossed.

Lexus Swindon, barring a couple of minor instances where the car was delivered back dirty inside (which was rectified and then some!), were excellent all the way through as were Lexus UK. When you have a problem, you find out whether the company cares. From my experience, Lexus does really care.

 

Ed, I’ve very sympathy with your past troubles on your NX. I know what you must have gone through after my experience with my Honda CRV - this you will probably recall from my listings on Honda Karma. In the end I had no complaints regarding the service and care offered to me by the dealer and Honda UK.

Just had two new Michelin Cross Climate tyres supplied and fitted locally. £302 for the two. Did 118 miles on them today and found the grip on dry and wet roads to be good and noticed (hope it’s not just imagination) the ride was noticeably quieter.

@Goggy thanks for the info, these are the ones recommended by Michelin. The size I quoted is the one on the existing tyres when I bought the car as a demonstrator from Lexus. The car was 6 months old.

I’ve now found (hopefully) a supplier for the W (104) tyres.

Yep you are correct, I’ve put the wrong size in my request on the club site. I certainly put the correct size in my web search. Thanks for noticing. Post now edited with correct info.

I’ve spent some time on the “net” looking for Michelin Cross Climate for my NX 300H Premier - 225 60 R18 100H - but cannot find this size. Can anyone put some light on this and possibly advice on stockists.

@jaydeeuk1 I’ve just had a thought, on the Premier you can adjust the HUD to show a rev counter. Don’t know if you’ve tried that or not. I know it’s not the same as a rev counter on the dash, but at least it is a rev counter.

CR2032 is the one you need. Check page 551 of the online manual for replacement instructions. Hope this helps.

Many thanks @NemesisUK, that is really what I expected. It really annoys me that with an integrated car system any updates mean the purchase of the maps as well as speed camera data. Especially when the like of Tom Tom and Garmin etc can have speed cameras updated independently from various websites such as www.pocketgpsworld.com.

Hey Ho, must keep a closer eye on the speedo!!

Looking to see if the speed camera database can be updated without the need to purchase the full map update.

Hi Ed - sorry to hear you’ve had lengthy problems with your NX. If you recall I had one years problem with my CR-V before it was finally resolved, so I know what you’ve gone through. Glad to see Lexus have come up,with some compensation.

I’m not a great fan of side steps, but you had positive results re your CR- V and side steps.

Ok, so I've covered just over 280 miles in 2 longish journeys with the radio on FM (gurgle fm isn't too good though!) and the result is - NO gurgling noise at all  and the drop down bar at the top of the screen showing which radio station you are listening to is much much less in frequency.

Me thinks it has something to do with the media system. Anyone else had this symptom?

Funny enough today I switched from DAB to FM as the drop down info informing which DAB station you are listening to drives me crackers with its frequency. Surprise surprise whilst on FM there were no gurgling sounds at all and no infuriating FM drop down info!

I'll be doing a reasonably long journey next week so I'll see if this is the cure.

Many thanks @rayaans. As far as I know the car has not been regassed as I've owned it since it was 6 months old. Regarding the "hybrid gurgle" I wasn't aware there was such a thing. My previous car was a Honda C-RV EX diesel and I have no experience of hybrids.The dealer didn't have time to look at it when I was there to have the dashcam re-sited as that was on a "drop in when passing" scenario.

I'll mention it to them when I visit next.

I've not long returned from my annual trip to Scotland covering 1887 miles in 10 days. The trip from Leeds to Aviemore return was mainly motorway/dual carriageway to just north of Perth. The remainder of the journeys covered were class A and B roads with many miles of single track roads with passing places and also some pretty hairy inclines!

From filling the tank to the brim at the start and end of the complete journey the NX returned 41.3 to the gallon. I'm quite happy with that figure. Most of the journeys were in "normal" mode with "sport" mode used for some of the steep climbs.

I've not long returned from my annual trip to Scotland and covered 1887 miles in 10 days. I had no problems with seat comfort but when I first got the car it took a fair bit of time to get all the adjustments done - height, rake, lumber support and the steering wheel. One of the main things I found was the steering wheel adjustment to suit the seat adjustments.

That could be a possibility @First_Lexus. I'm seeing about re-siting the dashcam soon so I'll suggest they look at that- thanks.

Has anyone heard a "gurgling" type noise from under the dash area of the NX? My wife thinks it is from the radio but I'm not so sure.

It doesn't happen all the time and sod's law, when I try to record it the flipping thing doesn't do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Must admit I'm not a fan of the side protectors. IMO they're not the correct angle and therefore don't match the angular nature of the body shape at the bottom of the doors. Only my opinion remember, but the appearance is in the eye of the beholder!

If it protects against annoying dints it is good. How would they look if they were put on at the same angle as the contours at the bottom of the doors? Possibly they would not then do the job they are made for.
