  1. I'm not using it now I've got mine it like all things it gets easier the more you use it, I'm sure
  2. Driveway looks nice
  3. Yes. The guest spot is the worse part, agreed
  4. I squeeze 5 kids onto my back seat with no seatbelts and it works fine. They're wedged in too tightly to move
  5. I'm not a fan of the new site to be honest
  6. A 'failure' like this after 11 years and 120k miles has to be normal wear and tear surely? I'd push for a goodwill contribution though to try to soften the bill a little
  7. Shame. Watched every single episode a number of times over I would think. I didn't like the US thing so much, ok for a few episodes but not really my scene although I did like the Maserati Bi-Motor! I'll take a quick look at the new episodes when they air but the big man was the show as far as I was concerned and Mike could sometimes get on my nerves a bit to be honest. Met Edd in Harrods once. He was standing at a counter next to me and I got neck ache looking up at him - he's so damn tall and I'm so damn short!! I told him I loved the show but didn't want to bother him any more than that. A nice guy
  8. Servicing doesn't get any cheaper that's for sure
  9. I had a two-faced sales guy from a Lexus dealership try to get me to pay for two years extra warranty on an approved used NX. It was only when I went elsewhere that I realised it was two years for the price of one and not the two years for the price of two at the original dealership. The original dealership also emailed me afterwards asking me how my experience was. I gave them some open and honest feedback. Bit off topic - sorry - but this sales guy also tried to tell me my cheap rate finance quote from Nationwide was flat rate when I knew it was APR and know the difference. He was also trying to sell me the car at the list price because it didn't actually have nav as advertised but he would get it fitted for free for the list price as a favour.... Needless to say I went elsewhere and quickly got down to a deal I was happy with. I've always tended to run my cars with extended warranties for peace of mind more than anything else.
  10. Growing on me every week. Didn't care much for the first series but still watched it. Second series much better. Still re-running the Gran Tour too, having watched all episodes when they came out each Friday. Liking TG though and there is room in my life for both
  11. I should have added I was towing a 1400kg caravan too. Awesome performance even with a caravan on the back. Not quite so good on the mpg front though. I'll have to try the silk thing now
  12. I once had a BMW X5 4.4 V8 and worst I saw was 14.9mpg over a 150 mile journey. Went like stink for a 2.2 tonne SUV
  13. The trouble with all this "I got x mpg on a certain journey" is that they are likely one-offs. Most of us will average what we average given our own driving patterns and driving styles. It will all average out and the longer you measure it for the more non-changing it will become. Mine seems to be 39 over a tankful. I will be resetting prior to a holiday in Scotland coming up soon because I am keen to see how different it might be to the same holiday last year in my previous XF 3.0DS. Always like to see what I average over a driving holiday because I will be doing about 1,500 miles in one week. The Jaguar gave very good economy on the way up and way back down but not so good in driving around whilst up there whereas I think the NX will be almost polar opposite to this so I'll be interested to see what the differences will be.
  14. The orange Focus STs were a bit in your face to start with but they've grown on me now
  15. I'm looking out for my first one on the road
  16. Sometimes my car will start up in EV mode on the driveway and go to the end of the village in EV mode. Other times it will start up in EV mode and start the engine even before I've moved off the driveway. At all other times, somewhere in between these two extremes. There are so many variables at play here that it is impossible to compare one day to another let alone to try to compare one person's experiences with another person's experiences with different cars on different days with different patterns of driving and different states of battery charge when switching off the day/night before. First thing to do is to ignore it and consider it normal but if you can't consider it normal get it into a dealership and have it checked out to make sure nothing is wrong with it. Then, if all is ok, ignore it and accept it. Or buy a plug in hybrid that you can charge up every night and start every day with a full charge I suppose
  17. Is the only reason that people buy an IS300h for its economy or its perceived economy? Driving say 12,000 miles per year at 50mpg would require 240 gallons of fuel. Doing the same miles at 40mpg would require 300 gallons of fuel. At about £1.20 per litre of fuel in the uk and 4.5 litres of fuel in a (UK) gallon, that's a difference of about £325 over a full year or about £27 a month. Call it £1,000 over a 3 year period. Over the same 3 year period a 36,000 mile IS300h will lose I'd guess about £15k although we could probably argue whether it was only £12k or as much as £18k. Then you pay £hundreds per year on insurance, an average of £300 per year on servicing, four new tyres in that time too and then incidentals on top. Fuel economy doesn't really matter that much. It's always interesting to see what is achievable but it ain't the be all and end all of motoring.
  18. Not sure about the revised front end. Need to see one in the flesh. The rear panel looks better than the pre-facelift one - I always thought that the weakest part of the pre=facelift hybrid. Like I say though I need to see one in the flesh. Also in a few different colours.
  19. Hadn't heard that about the first IS models, interesting
  20. I've always had good service from Lexus dealerships for kerbed wheels
  21. Nice car, glad you have it now. And at pre-increase VED rates. Perfect!
  22. Agreed. But they are just about the only organisations we have. I'd like to see an apolitical non-profit making organisation set up to represent the interests of motorists.
  23. Good news!
  24. I think they could do something with the existing engine. There is quite a difference in response and performance between Normal and Sport modes so I'd like to see the Sport mapping become Normal and then a more aggressive mapping for a Sport. More powerful batteries would be good, agreed. They don't seem to upgrade engines and batteries during a model lifecycle though
