  1. I wouldn't go with different tyre types on the same axle. It's not illegal as has been said but it does make for a strange driving experience especially in low grip conditions. I wouldn't do it myself
  2. Now that the new ownership honeymoon period is over, I'm finding my NX an extremely boring drive. I had the same with a previous IS300h. Drove my wife's Mini Cooper 1.5t to work the other day and it was so much more fun over the 96 mile round trip and I got 53mpg. Not comparable cars I know. My NX is refined, luxurious and comfortable but fun it ain't. Have to see how it goes over the next few months but I can see me having to change. My wife won't be impressed if I do change. Still want the luxury and comfort but I need my car to be a bit more enjoyable than this. Should probably never have sold my XF and moved back to an IS200t and then an NX. The IS although nice had too harsh a ride and the steering is devoid of any feel of what the front tyres are doing on the road. Hopefully this is just a 4 month itch! 😀
  3. Barely checking my NX fuel economy nowadays. I'm more concerned by a lack of driver enjoyment. It happened to me when I had an IS300h before. I drove my wife's Mini Cooper 1.5t to work the other day, a round trip of 100 miles. So much more fun and I got 53mpg. I know you can't directly compare a manual Mini Cooper with an NX hybrid but I finished the day with a smile on my face and I don't get that with my NX. Refined, luxurious and comfortable sure but almost zero enjoyment now I'm over the honeymoon period of onwnership. Have to see how the next few months go
  4. In wet weather and also after washing the windscreen with the washer jets, I see water passing over the driver's side window and as it gets to the vertical bar in the window just adjacent to the door mirror you can see the water get turned around in a vortex from the top of this vertical band. The wind noise gets louder at this point too and then when the water disappears the wind noise decreases to normal again. I think the area at the top of this vertical band is the main cause of the wind noise
  5. It's all a bit boring for me. Maybe a Lexus is so bland to drive that we over focus on economy and fuel saving tips and I get better economy than you threads?
  6. I am completely bored with the whole economy debates on here. Is this the number one requirement for Lexus drivers? Surely not. Please.....
  7. Get a life guys. Is economy really that important to you when the difference between say 40 and 45mpg for average mileage drivers over their ownership period is a relatively small part of the total ownership costs. Depreciation and other running costs outstrip differences in fuel economy by some margin. I'd be far happier if my Lexus didn't need servicing every 10k miles to be honest
  8. I turned off the efficient ventilation and efficient aircon settings. Believe these restrict the amount of time the aircon compressor operates and the speed of the fan to increase fuel consumption. Interior of my car feels like a normal car with climate control now, seems to maintain the set temperature better. I'm guessing some of this but it certainly feels better
  9. Seen one! There is one at Lexus Cheltenham in the showroom. Very nice indeed, it looked fantastic. My wife liked it too
  10. Still waiting to see my first one on the road
  11. Seems that Mike Brewer has had death threats and quite a bit of abuse on social media regarding this. Absolutely ridiculous. Surely it's a case of watching the new show if you want to or not watching it if you don't want to, nothing more
  12. AutoDetox, not Detox. Sorry. http://www.autodetox.co.uk/recentwork/ Mine was the silver XFs about half way down. Top job and my NX will be going there at some point this year
  13. They do tell the truth. Apart from genuine mistakes and all content will be caveated with the right legal statements to make this clear. No substitute for a lengthy test drive. Test drive being a test of all the things that are important to a buyer, including infotainment, satnav, space, comfort, driving experience, etc. I tend not to believe everything I read on the Internet. I especially don't believe car manufacturers sales blurb about things like state of the art infotainment systems, class leading performance, luxury ride, sporty ride, etc. These are all statements based on opinions but the only opinion that matters when I buy a car is mine because it's me that has to be happy and because it's my money I'm spending. Can't believe I would ever buy a car with what I perceived to be a crap infotainment system if that was very high on my list of needs from a car. This would be plain stupid IMO
  14. Thanks everyone. I was wondering about the premium fuel. I wondered whether the Petrol engines used in Lexus hybrids are capable of continuously adjusting to take into account the higher RON rating. If not, there is no performance gain to be had. Still an advantage in terms of keeping the engine cleaner but whether that in itself is worth it, maybe not.
  15. I find it quite unbelievable that someone could buy a car and be so disappointed with a feature, without any kind of check before buying, that this feature meets their needs. Especially when this feature is so high on their priority list. I do wonder how many people nowadays only test drive their prospective purchases from the comfort of their computer and Internet connection, believing everything they read in the sales blurb on the websites and making a lot of assumptions along the way. Won't be long before people start buying a house solely on what the Internet says about the house and then complaining that the rooms feel too small and why didn't someone warn them about it before purchase. Pathetic IMO. Sorry to be so blunt but this one is just pathetic and almost trolling in nature.
  16. I just prefer to drive mine as necessary with climate on and set to the desire temperature. Also set to clear the screen if required. Heated seats on too when needed. I don't think I'd ever consider having the climate set to off in order to squeeze a bit more mpg. Is a better mpg really that important? It's good to see what others achieve in theirs but I doubt I'd ever go to these lengths to save fuel. Wondering how many others would do this?
  17. Yes. I'm surprised too. I can only think that she's had one or two previous claims on her company car insurance and wanted to avoid yet another or the company has a massive excess due to its poor claim record and it was cheaper to pay £600 than say a £1k excess. It may well be that the company is till covering the £600 bill
  18. Why not get the current owner to get the logbook and arrange to have any checks done? Too much risk if you don't do this imo
  19. Forgot to say .... Your GS looks great Farqui!!
  20. Had a previous Jaguar XF detailed at Detox in Tamworth. It was a great job and the car looked gorgeous and water just beaded off and subsequent cleaning was so easy. Will be getting my NX done later this year. I had the one day new car detail service and it cost a very reasonable £220. I'm not suggesting this isn't a lot of money, just saying the results were worth it. My 3 year old XF looked as good as when it first came off the production line. I'll post up the link at some point. My NX is a darkish metallic blue and it will suffer from swirls but it's ok atm having been machine polished at dealership before collection. I've also become an anal jet wash, snow foam, two buckets with an expensive wash mitt followed by clean well maintained microfibre drying towels. Does make a difference but I'm hoping the neighbours don't think I'm an arse....
  21. Looks nice. Much better than the standard hybrid look. Well done!
  22. Ah. Ok. It looks even better if you leave the centre belt plugged in. So nice to see the belt trailing down from the roof. Classy. Well done Lexus! had a good look over a brand new RC in the showroom this week. Very nice indeed
  23. Cheers. Spot on, was hoping to hear something like this. The Lexus tech did intimate something like this and nothing to worry about. Thx Rayaans
  24. How is it looking now? Anything fitted yet?
