  1. Mine’s in for a service later in November with a courtesy car so I’ll also be interested to see what I will get. Which reminds me that I need to check the dealership is still open during lockdown 😀
  2. I think what you tend to do is just state your opinion in ever more lengthy terms and then tell everyone who doesn’t agree with your opinion that they are wrong. It’s ok for us to have different opinions, it’s one of the things that make the world a fascinating place. You clearly researched your purchase in detail and made a decision based on this. Which is a very sensible thing to do. I still think you made a bad choice based on your past history mind but this is my opinion. Doesn’t mean you are right and I’m wrong or vice versa. I haven’t replied to too much of what you have said re the engine and gearbox in your car because we probably have different opinions on some things. Same opinions on others mind. You’ve mentioned that the v6 has more torque than the 200t but this isn’t the case in my experience. I’ve owned both a 2nd and 3rd generation IS250. I’ve also owned an IS200t and two IS300h. I’ve used all of them in much the same way on the same roads and same journey types. My own experience is that the IS250, both 2nd and 3rd gen sound wonderful and are very smooth engines but they do lack torque and have to be revved above about 3500 ish rpm before there is any appreciable torque delivery from the engine. Lovely engines though and certainly no hardship in revving them out. I still get misty eyed about my 2006 IS250 SE-L even now. The IS300h always feels to me that it hasn’t got much in the way of torque but this is I think more down the non-linear relation between throttle and delivery from the powertrain. Once you get over this a firm press of the accelerator does give strong performance. More so in Sport mode when it is obvious that there is more assistance from the battery and motor. the IS200t I had always felt like it had loads of torque. I didn’t like the gearbox and found that I’d often drive around manually changing gears but it had a lot of grunt and always felt considerably faster than both a 250 and a 300h in all conditions. But these are my opinions based on my driving and my seat of the pants feel for these cars. Doesn’t mean I’m right or wrong, it’s just what I feel.
  3. Linas, we need more detail from you. I can never work out why you mean what you say. You use so few words when you post. 😂👍
  4. I agree. Of course, cars that cost £45k new still have the running costs of a £45k car despite costing say £15k to buy now
  5. Alas I fear this is likely to be the case 😀
  6. 😀 Sounds entirely reasonable to me! I’d also ask for a free tankful of fuel and no mileage limit for the day. I’d probably take the day off work and break the no unnecessary journeys rule too!
  7. It was almost definitely this because when the tech put the wheel spokes level with the column stalks (wiper in auto position one click down) the tracking read spot on. Whatever, I’m just pleased I don’t have to drive along straight roads with an offset steering wheel. Finally 😀
  8. Come on Linas, get out there and keep looking at your car. Keep driving it too. Eventually you might even like it. Live for the moment and enjoy the car you have chosen to buy. If I had 17k to spend on a 2 door coupe I’d be driving a Cayman. I’d probably pay 14k leaving me 3k towards the increased running costs. It would be older and higher mileage obviously but it would be much more fun and would bring a smile to my face every single time I drove it.
  9. Bought mine in July and it felt like the tracking was out. Car felt a bit like it was on ice especially in wet weather and traction was poor. It also moved around a bit on rural roads. Left it for a couple of months to see how it went. I then started to see some feathering on the outside edge of both front tyres. Had full alignment done at the dealership (not the one I bought the car from, too far away). They have a Hunter 4 wheel alignment rig so no concerns it wouldn’t be right. Got the car back and it was obviously much better and felt perfect on the road. But. Steering wheel was noticeably offset to the right. This is something I hate and it’s surely not too much to ask for is it - to clamp the wheel in the straight ahead position and align all wheels and re-check and re-adjust as required. I returned the car to the dealership and the car comes back. Steering wheel still offset slightly but much better. Unfortunately it was immediately obvious when driving that the alignment was out. The car felt worse to drive. I give up on the dealership because they’d had two goes and couldn’t do it right. I take it to an independent tyre place and they confirm that tracking is out - far too much toe-in. Adjustment carried out and car now drove properly but the bloody steering wheel was offset again to the right by the same amount as after it was first adjusted at the dealership. After a bit of research I decide to take it to Wheels in Motion in Chesham Bucks. They did a full setup and all is well now. They got me to sit in the car and adjust the steering wheel myself to straight ahead. Then they adjust tracking and the car is perfect now. Great on the road and steering wheel sits perfectly level on most roads when running in a straight line. A passing comment from the guy who did the work got me thinking though. He said my straight ahead looked offset to the left to him because the steering wheel spokes didn’t align with the light and wiper stalks. I got back in the car after and thought why did he think that and was it me perhaps? I then noticed that the wiper stalk was on auto which is one notch down. When I moved it back up the steering wheel was level and aligned with the stalks. I generally always have my wiper switch on auto during these wet winter conditions. I’m now thinking that both the dealership and the tyre place aligned the steering wheel to the two stalks and clamped it in place. But because my wiper switch was always in auto they possibly clamped the wheel in an offset to the right position aligned with the stalks. Hence why tracking felt good but the steering wheel was always offset to the right. What do you think? Worth watching out for if you get your cars checked. There had to be a reason why this happened and maybe this is it?
  10. When I say gearbox, I mean the gearbox itself, the mapping, the integration with the engine, installation in the car, everything. I don't doubt the gearbox itself can be ok. Still not a patch on a ZF box though, in my experience at least. It feels like Lexus rushed the 200t out and didn't do enough work to properly integrate the engine and gearbox and fine tune the mapping. As someone has suggested Linas, I'd definitely consider getting a dealership to take yours back to factory default settings and then see if it gets better as it 'learns'.
  11. I did read the whole thread too. You were pretty damning about the car you'd bought so I think you ought to expect a bit of stick on that basis alone. The fact that you'd previously rubbished people who had chosen the 200t drivetrain just made it worse and we were itching to tell you I suppose. Enjoy the car though. It looks a corker. Hopefully the powertrain will grown on you. I agree re consumption - my IS200t had terrible fuel consumption for shorter journeys, worse than a 2014 IS250 F-Sport.
  12. When I had my IS200t I thought the engine was fine but I didn't like the gearbox. Too many changes were way too abrupt, gearbox was slow to react in kickdown - almost as if it couldn't decide what gear to change into, and it was never that smooth. I used to drive around this by using the paddles and Sport mode and the other mode (Power, can't quite remember). Certainly not a patch on a ZF gearbox. Poor integration of the engine and gearbox I think. As you've said.
  13. Hope you enjoy your car Linas. It's certainly a lovely looking car and well spec'd as you've said. Enjoy! And look forward to the RCF in time of course 😊
  14. I guess times are hard for dealers at the moment with the drop in car sales and I suppose some will try to generate sales by being less than economical with the truth re repairs and the like.
  15. I think it is when you have a company car. The difference between a good choice and a bad choice can be thousands of pounds in tax paid pa. Nothing wrong with an I-Pace either. The single most impressive car I’ve driven in the last 20 years I’d say. I’d have one in a shot. The point of the thread is that EVs are not generally affordable for the private motorist and this is right I think.
  16. I don’t have the premium nav in mine but have had it in a previous car. Worth a google I would say. I dislike the auto zoom, I prefer to have the zoom pop up in a separate window to the right
  17. In your very first post you listed everything you didn’t like and the one thing you did like. Others suggested you only liked the look of the car and you agreed. You must admit you have been pretty vocal in the past about the engine and gearbox and then I read this thread and find out that you’ve only gone and bought one and then proceeded to tell everyone how the only thing you liked about the car was the look of it. Are you sure you’ve made the right decision Linas?
  18. I like the Peugeot e208 but I always promised myself never to buy or drive a Peugeot 😀
  19. Having sat in a friend’s 530e it really does put Lexus media to shame. My eyes are not that great for reading but still perfect for long distance so I don’t need glasses for driving but this makes it hard to read Lexus navigation in the move. No such problems in the 530e. I wouldn’t be driving a Lexus if good media was at the top of my wish list
  20. There is an option in the setup menu to stop the map zooming in on junctions I think
  21. I shall look forward to the highly entertaining reviews and reports of your ongoing ownership of a car you don’t like. 😀
