  1. I had one one in my 2019 IS and it does protect the paintwork but of course the protector itself gets scratched and one scratch on mine stood out to me. Doubt others saw it but I did every time. Trouble is my car has to serve as my daily transport which also includes occasional trips to the recycling centre, holidays, golf course duty (clubs and trolley in and out of the boot), trips to the diy store, etc. I don’t have one on my NX and I’m really trying to be a bit less bothered about the odd scratch and scuff that inevitably happen during said use.
  2. Agreed, cheers. I’m off work today and tomorrow and inter to wash the car today. I might have a poke around. Is this a service item on any of the recommended schedules? Feels like it should be.
  3. So I’m thinking that a blocked/dirty filter means a reduction in cooling airflow for the battery pack which precludes the batteries from providing motive power. At least until the batteries cools down to within the temperature range allowed for them to provide motive power. It stands to reason that this will have a hit on economy. Improving the airflow by cleaning fans and filter means the batteries stay within the allowed temperature range for more of the time allowing them to be used more of the time. I doubt this is something that needs to be done on a regular basis but most definitely worth doing on an older car I would think. An absolutely brilliant writeup by the OP 👍
  4. Good thread this. I wonder how easy it is to find and check on an NX.
  5. What a game! So many different permutations. Today I have a max of £3k to spend on a convertible. What would I buy? 😀
  6. Potentially the last present you’d ever buy though 😂
  7. £100 to recognise a new sensor!!!! Blimey. Expensive.
  8. Ha! A subject close to my own heart. I’ll be retiring in 2-4 years time and before normal retirement age. Hopefully. I’m on my 17th car in the last 18 years. I’ve tended to change whenever I’ve wanted to and devised the man maths to support the need to change and created some ‘believable’ reasons to support said changes. Had some lovely cars including some very quick cars. And yet now as I approach retirement I realise that I’ve wasted quite a bit of money on cars. I intend to keep my current NX and see what mileage and age I can run it out to. The only other thing I might do is have a convertible in the garage for fun when I do retire. This way I can put more money towards retirement. I can fully understand the dilemma and it sounds like this RC is a lovely car so, yes, why not keep it. A chance to test the legendary Lexus quality and reliability we all state we enjoy! 😀
  9. Would a decent body shop be able to scan the colour and match from that? I agree, worth having a go at yourself. Nothing to lose. If the repair isn’t good enough then get it professionally done. I had a slight chip on the same panel on my own IS300h. I left it because it wasn’t as bad but I did plan to attend to it by having a go myself. Hope you find a match.
  10. Good informative thread this. Shows the value of a forum like this. 👍
  11. Yep that’s another way of solving this problem. Enjoyable too! 😀
  12. I’m hoping I get a UX as a courtesy car at next service. It’ll be an interesting comparison. Might even try for a test drive when this virus thing is under control.
  13. If I was using my car so little that the 12v battery kept going flat I would go outside once a week and get the car to ready state and stay in it for about 30 minutes. My understanding, from other more knowledgeable people in the forum, is that the traction batteries will charge up the 12v battery and the ICE when it switches on will charge up the traction batteries. Heck, I’d probably even go for a drive for 30 minutes rather than sit in the stationary car. That is surely far easier than buying a charger, setting it up every time and then remembering to disconnect it every time? Some may have to keep their cars on the road too which makes charging even harder. Driving the car occasionally is fun and enjoyable and also keeps brakes and tyres etc being used which is also good for the car. I get why trickle chargers are a good idea for cars that are left inactive for very long periods of time but I’m not so sure this is necessary for cars that are in regular use. I can’t see the point of buying a premium Lexus hybrid and then leaving it outside with no use allowing the 12v battery to go flat. Get out there and use your cars. It’s fun and enjoyable 😀
  14. Last time I was in the Lexus dealership for a service I saw a new RAV4 in the Toyota side. It looked nice I must admit.
  15. So spend money and time on self diagnosing or spend money on having a dealership diagnose. I’d prefer the latter but it’s clear that quite a few prefer the former. A personal choice I guess.
  16. I’ve always used Autoglym leather care balm and it’s served me well for over 10 years now.
