  1. I used Auto Detox when I had my last Jaguar XFS. Superb service and the car came back looking like new. I only had what was called a new car detail but I couldn’t fault any aspect of the work that was done.
  2. Always happens at the worst time, ie just as you’re about to sell the car. The law of sod! This sounds promising though. Good luck!
  3. What drives you to keep making all these mods? How much have you spent in total on all of these mods? Just curious that’s all.
  4. If anyone is worried about this it’s always worth getting a four wheel alignment done. This will at least confirm that the alignment is as it should be. Also get someone to check that none of the suspension bushes are worn. If all ok and it still does it then you know it’s cold tyres crabbing across the road surface a little. As said above, winter tyres will cure this. They have a different rubber compound which stays soft at low temperatures. The rubber on normal tyres goes very hard at temperatures below about 7 degrees offering very little grip until the tyres warm up.
  5. For me it’s not so much the outright performance although this is one aspect. It’s more the part-throttle response, ie how far you have to press the accelerator to elicit a bit of go from the car. The IS300h is particularly bad in this respect unless in Sport mode and even then there is still a fairly non linear relationship between accelerator position and forward momentum. You do get used to it and for many it’s not a problem. I always felt that I was driving round in a compact sports saloon with good handling and a fairly firm ride but without the strong powertrain to go with it. I found that facelift cars perform better than pre-facelift cars. The bare figures didn’t change but there was no doubt in my mind that a facelift car has more assistance from the electrickery than a pre-facelift car which makes it feel more torquey in terms of delivery. I seem to be much less bothered about this in my NX possibly because the car is more wafty and I don’t drive it as hard. I think if you’re looking for performance and have owned and driven a lot of fast vehicles an IS300h could be a bit of a disappointment. If you are moving from something with similar performance you probably wouldn’t. An IS300h never feels like it has 220bhp to me. Jump into an Audi A4 2.0 TFSI with 220bhp and you’ll feel what a real 220bhp offers.
  6. Why on earth would someone want to track their car on a boat from Japan to the UK? Just curious really 😀
  7. I had to laugh at the statement that the lights mod comes with a knob to change the settings 😆
  8. Have to agree with Linas. An IS300h is not a fast car. It’s ok. Not fast though. If comparing with an XE you’d have to compare with the 2 litre petrols. One develops about 200bhp the other 250bhp. I’ve owned an XE with the older 240bhp petrol but have driven all three extensively. An IS300h wouldn’t get near them in terms of performance. Nothing wrong with an IS300h in isolation but it wouldn’t get near an equivalent BMW, Merc, Audi or Jaguar. You can’t compare with diesels because the power delivery is totally different. That said a 320D would also show an IS300h a clean pair of heels.
  9. I wonder if there is a way of rebooting it from factory settings. There was when I had. Honda Accord. You had to know the button pressed and order to initiate one. This feels to me like some kind of anti-theft thing perhaps? Maybe the unit has gone into a safe mode and needs to be rebooted from scratch? That said, the replacement wouldn’t work then. Hoping you may have found a reasonably priced solution though 👍
  10. If you sell to a trader they will take the fact that it was due or overdue for a service into account and reduce the value. If you sell privately, a buyer would also likely take the same into account. The annual hybrid health check will also be useful come sale time. I would be tempted to sell it now whilst it still has warranty and whilst the service is not yet quite due. Either privately or to WBAC where you’ve had a quote. Selling privately at the current time would be difficult whereas selling to WBAC will be relatively painless although they will attempt to beat the value down by pointing out every single blemish, mark, scratch, etc when they see the car. Be prepared for this. Or keep the car for now and get it serviced as cheaply as you can. Either via a good independent or via Lexus. As someone has said, you can use the Lexus essentials servicing scheme for older cars which has a fixed price regime. Look on the Lexus website and you’ll see what the price is for your car and it sounds like it will be an intermediate service so shouldn’t be too expensive. Bear in mind that you can stretch the service intervals by 1 month or 1000 miles without going outside of the recommended intervals. But. You have a warranty which expires at end March and it would be a great idea, whether you are selling or not, to make sure anything that needs repairing/replacing is fixed under warranty if it can be. If it were me I’d book in for a Lexus essentials service in mid March and I’d ask them to check the whole car to see if any warranty work is required to be done. You’ll also get the annual hybrid health check done as part of the service and this is worthwhile especially if selling. Your decision but I hope this and the other posts will help you in some way.
  11. Surely concierge mode is a mode that allows no or very little adjustment of the various controls? It would be a mode for when you pull up at a hotel that you can set to make sure no-one from the hotel messes around with the controls when they valet park it for you? At least this is what concierge mode would suggest to me.
  12. Interesting. Thanks for sharing. What the report doesn’t say is whether the power and drivability is impacted by this fuel. I’m pretty sure there will be some amazing developments over the next 5-10 years. I’ve never been sure that pure EVs are the answer because the electricity has to first be generated. Substations won’t cope with too many people charging up their cars overnight either. The lead-time for new power stations and substations is massive and is currently out of kilter with potential demand as everyone starts to move over to EVs. We do need solutions like the one mentioned above.
  13. When you think about what £2500 would buy in terms of quality home audio and yet this figure only buys you a replacement Lexus radio unit. Hope you get one from a breaker.
  14. Wow! £3k is ridiculously expensive. Hope you find a cheaper solution.
  15. The CVT gearbox in a Lexus hybrid isn’t to everyone’s taste. There are times when I still get frustrated by it even now after four hybrids. Lots of open road driving on fast roads with plenty of incline show it at its worst. Long motorway inclines too. I can understand why some never like it or get used to it.
  16. Some choose to pay dealerships to do all of their servicing and repairs and some don’t go near them. The rest are probably somewhere in between these two. No right or wrong and it’s a personal choice. Affordability and peace of mind probably play a large part in people’s choices. I wouldn’t let Halfords anywhere near any of my cars but that’s a personal choice which I’m happy with. I wouldn’t dream of criticising anyone that does use them. I use the dealership too which again is a personal choice. Again, I understand why some won’t.
  17. In my excitement to post I made my car 12 months younger. It’s a 2015 NX 😀
  18. There is definitely a slight disappointment when, having gone through the process of accessing the portal and setting up with your car, you find out there isn’t really much you can do with a car with the standard nav.
  19. Yes, my experience too with a variety of new or nearly new IS vehicles with the standard nav from 2014 to 2019 models.
  20. Move the cursor over that portion of the screen and click. It should then show you two options - travel time or arrival time. I think this is right. I’ll check for sure next time I’m in my car.
  21. I have a 2016 NX300H Luxury and I’ve been warned by the dealership that my Yokohama OE tyres are showing signs of cracking. I will get them replaced at some point soon. Nothing unusual about this and it’s an age related thing rather than mileage. I’ve also had this problem on two previous Jaguars that had done a lower annual mileage before I had them. Most tyres will wear out before they show signs of cracking. Lower mileage means they won’t wear out but may degrade through age and start to crack. What I’ve also found is that it was impossible to get a consistent professional opinion as to whether they needed to be replaced. So it boiled down to whether I wanted to drive around on the tyres or get them replaced and I tended to do the latter. That said, if the cracks are bad I would ask the selling trader to replace them before I bought the car. Or at least negotiate me having to replace them myself into the purchase price.
  22. I’m just curious as to what the fixation is with fuel consumption. If fuel consumption was so important I probably wouldn’t drive a Lexus hybrid. I’d likely pick something entirely based on its economy. Possibly even an EV or PHEV.
