  1. Thanks everyone. Food for thought. I think if it remains at £795 for two years I will go for it. I’ll decide closer to the time. Might have to try to predict if they are going to stop the 2 for 1 offer and buy ahead of time too. No firm decision yet but edging towards having a warranty.
  2. I have this decision to make in July. Undecided at the moment. Drive a Lexus because they are super reliable but buy a warranty just in case seems like a contradiction in terms to me?
  3. Most of the time I prefer to drive fairly normally and not concern myself with trying to achieve the best economy. I do a couple of journeys where I’ll try to better my best figures just as a bit of fun but nothing more than this. I find it boring to be honest.
  4. Not literally I hope! Hopefully still on the ship
  5. I’ve always found I get better economy in Sport mode on longer motorway runs. Definitely the case with both NX I’ve had. A little less noticeable in the two IS hybrids I’ve had but still there. Possibly the way I drive and the way I want to drive. I find I don’t have to bury the accelerator into the carpet every time I want moderate acceleration. I can always feel the extra electric shove in sport mode in part throttle conditions. Foot to the floor and there appears no difference between sport and normal. It’s the part throttle response that is so much better in sport. Hate eco mode with a passion.
  6. Any fault on a used car that becomes evident within six months of purchase is deemed to have been there at purchase. I think this is the gist of the law in this area. I’d research and then talk to the supplying dealership and quote the exact wording back to the dealership and ask for them to replace the battery free of charge. They may not agree and you’d have to play hardball to get them to do it. A compromise might be that you agree to pay cost for the battery and they fit it for free which might be say 40-50% of the normal fully fitted price.
  7. Interesting link above concerning your rights. I’d recommend you give some thought to returning the car and looking for another good deal either at that dealership or elsewhere. Worth a shot perhaps?
  8. Please don’t take this the wrong way but please can I ask on what basis you bought the car given that you didn’t pay much attention to pictures and specs? You previously had an IS250 SE-L which has a very high spec and you knew this and yet you have replaced it with a fairly low spec 3rd generation IS. I’m not having a go, I’m just curious as to why you’d buy a car and not realise it didn’t have many of the toys you’d enjoyed on your previous car. Buying from a Lexus dealership doesn’t mean every car sold will have a high spec.
  9. 1500kg towing capacity for an NX300h AWD. It did quite well in the caravan club towcar awards according to the write up.
  10. Some mileage that! My doubts were based on the oldest cars being a little less than 8 years and to have done 300k would require 37.5k miles per year every year for eight years. That kind of mileage would also be at least one traction battery change. Impressive to get to 540k kms though.
  11. I’d still like to know. If say the minimum is 7 days and the maximum is 14 days I’ll know it’s somewhere in between. It’s not an exact science I understand this but it would be useful to know the range of days inactive that it happens.
  12. The only way to get really decent economy from a Lexus hybrid is to treat the accelerator like it has an egg underneath it 😀
  13. Can I ask how long you’d left the car unused for? I’m trying to form a view for myself of how long is enough to cause this problem.
  14. But if you had driving modes that covered all the bases the car could be everything for everyone. The car is sold as a sports saloon after all. Have a genuine ECO mode that does save fuel and gives the economy minded people what they need. Have a genuine Sport mode that maximises electric assistance and includes an aggressive ICE map, again to give performance minded people what they need. Then something in between for a Normal mode which in my book should be something similar to the current Sport mode. Not having to mash the accelerator every time you need a bit of performance would I think lead to better real world fuel economy. They are lovely cars no doubt about it but I think they could be so much better.
  15. Yeah I know the reasons why. I think an IS would be a fantastic car with a better ICE.
  16. Pulling out into the outside lane of a motorway in Normal mode is a foot to the floor revs through the roof kind of operation. It’s not as frantic in Sport mode.
  17. You’re comparing an SUV like vehicle with a compact sports saloon and you clearly like your compact sports saloon. It doesn’t surprise me therefore that you prefer your IS. Someone else might prefer the UX to an IS for the opposite reason. No right or wrong here, just opinions. As you’ve said though so I’m not disagreeing with you. I haven’t driven a UX yet but I am looking forward to trying the latest generation of hybrid powertrain in the UX.
  18. I completely agree with what you say. I always felt that Sport should be normal and then Sport should be a maximum combination of ICE and motor with a much more aggressive ICE map too. 194bhp from a 2.5 litre is poor. On longer motorway journeys I’ve always found that Sport mode gives better economy because I don’t have to mash the accelerator to the carpet to make some progress. On my 4th 300h hybrid now. In urban conditions the cars are superb though.
  19. Even when Linas is wrong he’s right 😉😀
  20. More aimed at the OP. The OP’s first post ever is to start another economy thread. We’ll have to wait and see if the OP is going to engage in this thread or disappear after two posts. It just feels like another economy windup to me.
  21. You’ve certainly done quite a bit to individualise your car. Some of them wouldn’t be to my taste but this doesn’t matter. It’s your own car and your choice. I hadn’t realised it was possible to buy so much stuff like this.
  22. There are more than enough existing threads on here about fuel consumption without starting a new one surely? #boring
  23. Thanks for the replies guys. Not something I’d do but I can see why you have done so 👍
  24. Looks like at least three dealerships still have brand new IS cars for sale. I’m guessing there’ll be more than this out there too.
