  1. Not sure this is true. All insurers will take all previous claims into account. The questions they ask include have you had any claims regardless of fault within the last x years. Claiming for a windscreen repair would count as a claim and this would then be taken into account when the insurance company calculates the premium. Answering no to the question after having made a windscreen repair could invalidate the insurance if the insurance company finds out.
  2. Generally speaking a dealership won’t prepare a car for sale until it has been sold. This is to avoid any unnecessary cost were they to end up moving the car on in the trade if they can’t sell it. I’ve always felt this is counter productive but I can see the logic if running a business with very fine margins which dealerships are.
  3. Is hybrid battery life limited by mileage or age please? I have a near 6 year old NX300H which I was planning to keep in the family for many years to come. It’s only done 24k miles.
  4. Mudflaps were a curious thing on my last IS300H Sport. Some days I loved the look and other days I thought it spoiled the lovely clean lines. I was never quite sure why I felt like this.
  5. Mirrors my experience when replacing tyres on a previous NX. It wasn’t just that new tyre feel, it lasted as long as I had the car for. 👍
  6. There are plenty of threads on here about fitting a towbar to an NX John. It’s also been tested in towcar awards. Lexus will fit one too. I thought your response to the OP was a tad condescending and rather unhelpful. Sorry if you didn’t like my reply. I doubt the OP liked your response equally as much mind.
  7. No apology from me. I know John is helpful and knowledgeable. It stands out. Not always the case though. My reply was in direct response to John’s post to this OP. Your response is to something completely different. How can the two be the same? I’ve seen loads of brilliant posts from John but his reply to this OP was a long way from that.
  8. How on earth does your reply answer the question “anyone had a towbar fitted to their NX300H, preferably removable?” There are times when you should just not answer if you have nothing to add. This was one of them I think. Sorry to call you out but some of your posts are ridiculous.
  9. Lots of people want lots of tech in their cars nowadays but can’t be arsed to find out how it all works by reading the manual. Much easier to post on a forum and have others provide lots of answers. And of course everything written on the internet is fact so it can always be relied upon.......
  10. Quite sad to think that in the years ahead driving enjoyment will be gone. Where I live many country A roads are limited to 50. It’s really crazy because you can turn off the main A roads into country lanes with limited visibility and narrow width and the speed limit increases to 60. Should be the other way round as far as I’m concerned. The trouble with driving around at an indicated 50-55 is that you have a HGV right on your rear bumper which never feels safe to me at all.
  11. This is pretty sad isn’t it. The A9 in Scotland is like this. Average speed cameras for a large part of it above Inverness. It certainly does make it very boring and I agree, people would switch off from the act of driving. You also stick to the the limit and have a HGV about 2m from your rear bumper trying to push you down the road. All very sad and we are certainly going to reach a point where all main roads are controlled by average speed cameras and eventually controlled by in car electronics.
  12. Pointless comparing different cars on different roads at completely different times in different weather conditions and with different drivers though. Whatever you saw in your car at that time bears no resemblance to what I saw in my car when I did. I can also get closer to 40 at slower speeds on the motorway. At 75-80 it does drop by a fair bit compared to 70. Horses for courses but not a great motorway car in my opinion, at least from a performance and economy perspective. Still quiet (at least when not accelerating) and supremely comfortable though.
  13. Pretty sure an NX is deemed to be a mid-size SUV. Fairly sure that’s how I saw the motoring press describe it when it came out.
  14. I reckon a facelift car with 18” wheels is better than a pre-facelift car on 17” wheels, assuming both are standard suspension. I hated my own 2014 IS250 F-sport with a vengeance. It felt like it had no suspension travel at all and was far too firm to the point where it was uncomfortable. A dream on motorways and dual carriageways but poor everywhere else. My 2019 IS300H Sport had better ride comfort than my 2104 IS300H Executive and also an IS200T Sport I had for six months. Whatever suspension changes they made in the facelift cars seemed to improve the ride comfort, at least to my backside and ears anyway.
  15. Yes Linas, I have thought about an IS250C. And an IS350C would be mega, agreed.
  16. I’ve had quite a few thoughts about trying to find a good 2nd generation IS250 SE-L or perhaps an Advance and getting rid of my NX. Not powerful as you say but very smooth and a nice way to get about. This would also allow me to buy a convertible to keep in the garage for nice sunny days.
  17. You surpassed yourself by making a positive post and not criticising someone for their choice Linas. I thought the same. It was a compliment I think. 👍😀
