  1. An ES is a much different kind of car to an IS though surely?
  2. No softer warning as you get close to the limit perhaps?
  3. Oh boy. I remember this. In a car with my brother in law’s elderly father. He came to a roundabout and he asked me which way to. I said right. And he did exactly that, he turned right. Then he blamed me. I knew his time to stop driving had come too. Been through it with my own mother. We had to encourage her to give up over a period of time. As others have said above, it does take away independence and it is a massive step and one to be handled with sensitivity and care. It will come to all of us and I’m sure it will be horrible when it does.
  4. I think it deters the casual theft though. You know, people who go out at night looking for places to rob and they are faced with a choice - a dark house that looks empty versus a house that has some random lights and may therefore have people inside. It won’t stop a determined thief but it would deter casual theft. Believe that the Police still state it’s a good idea to have lights on a timer. A radio too. Or at least it was the last time I looked.
  5. Valid points of course. I shudder at the way some of my friends and family members treat their cars. They rely on someone or something on the car telling them that they have a problem. No regular visual checks, no checking of oil levels, tyre pressures, lights, nothing.
  6. royoftherovers is going to be pleased it was in the manual! 😉🤣
  7. I’m pretty sure that petrol was a lot less than a £1 a gallon when I first started driving. I keep thinking I could buy more than a gallon for 50p in 1980 but this might be poor memory on my part 😀
  8. So we’re back to square one then. If you’re in the UK and you want a compact sports saloon and you want a Lexus, you are stuck. And there is nothing else that anyone would consider because it’s not a Lexus. I like the brand but I’m not blinded by it. I’m sure a brand new A4, C Class or 3 series would be a fine car. As has been said, Volvo seem to be making some very nice cars now too. I’m sure I’d get along ok and find something I was happy with.
  9. Steering wheel is always on the right side if you look from the correct direction... 😀
  10. Do you mind if I ask why you wanted to know please? Just curious that’s all.
  11. I thought the only difference between e5 and e10 fuel is the amount of bioethanol in the fuel. I think the 5 and 10 refer to the % of bioethanol in the fuel. Theoretically I would think it should be possible to have 95/98/99 Octane in either e5 or e10.
  12. 👍 Agreed. Bigger the sample size the more accurate the result will be.
  13. I find the F-Sport seats uncomfortable. As a result of playing rugby for 16 years I suffer from a bad back from time to time. Just wear and tear. A combination of the F-Sport seats and F-Sport suspension is bad for my back. Hard to know if it would be the same for others but I thought it was worth Letting you know what I feel.
  14. Sorry, can’t help. You could try calling a dealership, I’m sure they’d be able to confirm.
  15. Take a look at the new interior now. It’s quite different and very upmarket in my opinion. A lot nicer than an IS I think. Much more modern.
  16. I had. British Racing Green Portfolio 2.0i 240. It was an amazing car to drive and a lot nicer than an IS200T I owned for 6 months. It let me down by refusing to start one night. Had to go because nothing bothers me more in a car than unreliability. A wonderful car to drive though.
  17. Great cars to drive. A lot of fun. Certainly way more fun than an IS, last generation ISF excepted.
  18. Wow! After only 22k miles. You must have hit some big potholes up there!!! 😀
  19. I have close friends who work in the trade and this is what they tell me. It could be that you’ve looked at particularly good examples that required no or very little remedial work perhaps.
  20. That is only if you stay with Direct Line. If you go elsewhere it will affect your premium. Even with Direct Line, because there is no such thing as fixed published prices for insurance you have absolutely no idea what they have done to come up with their price. It’s all based on risk and your risk factor will have changed because you’d made a claim. Whatever their wording might say, you’ll pay more as a result of having made a claim.
