Agreed. Not just about economy though for me at least. I like driving in EV mode under certain conditions. If it was purely about economy I doubt I’d be driving a Lexus hybrid to be honest.

Don’t forget that any fault that is found within the first three months of ownership is deemed to have been there at time of purchase. A fault like this would certainly fall into this category. I’d likely refuse to pay an investigation charge because I would counter that the fault was there at purchase and has to be fixed. It would be a choice for the dealer whether to claim on the warranty or to just do the repair themselves. Key to this will be that is a permanent and easily reproducible fault rather than one of those annoying intermittent ones that come and go. Good luck with repair, I’m sure that Lexus / dealership will do the right thing. This is one of the reasons I drive a Lexus.

I do this every time I park on my driveway. It’s an easy routine to get into and I find this better than putting key into a shielded pouch. As has been said, I’ve turned off the spare key too. I tend not to do this when I’m out and about because that’s when I often need the comfort access. That said, if someone is determined to steal mine they will and I wouldn’t try to stop them because they might be armed. Unless I was also armed of course. Mind you, I’ve had my sub-machine gun, Bowie knife, and pistol taken off me nowadays.... 😉😀

The ICE will cut in when the car thinks it needs to even in EV mode when the traction batteries run low or some other condition forces this such as a hefty press of the accelerator or battery conditioning etc. My experience is that manually selecting EV mode, as opposed to the car dropping into EV mode itself, appears to give a longer period of EV running as long as the speed is kept below 30 (because manual EV mode will always drop out at 30+). Manually selecting EV mode appears to allow a firmer press of the accelerator without triggering the ICE to come on. Ordinarily the lightest touch on the accelerator in normal running will trigger the ICE to come on as soon as the needle goes into the power segment. I’ve found the behaviour and EV power delivery to be different when manually selecting EV mode. Might be me but this is my 4th hybrid (2 x IS and 2 x NX). I’d be interested to hear if others see the same. Obviously you can’t mash the accelerator because this always triggers the ICE.

Wow! If only she had gifted it to her nephew who had the foresight to have it restored and stored away until now. What a shame!!

I use it on my road and I also use it in the village where I live especially when entering. I also use it when in carparks and when in traffic. It keeps the ICE off more of the time from what I experience. I see it as no different to using Sport Mode whenever I need a bit more response from the drivetrain. Equally fine to leave it as it is and let the car decide what is best at any particular time though if desired.

Looked for a different route to the M6 / M55 slog. Now going to head over to Llangollen and then north over the Horseshoe Pass. A much nicer route but of course a bit longer in terms of time.

But Linas. You’d also also said earlier that you would continue at full speed unless there was an obstacle. You then go on to say in the same paragraph that if the other driver decides to change direction at the last minute then it is too late for you to do anything about it. You also say the problem isn’t bad and aggressive drivers (which sounded defensive by the way because it came from nowhere) but the real problem is bad and indecisive drivers. Our crowded roads are full of traffic. Full of people with all varying degrees of experience and proficiency behind the wheel. All different ages too. And occasionally people also make mistakes for all manner of reasons - carelessness, uncaring, mind on other things, distractions, genuine emergency, lack of judgement, etc. All of this makes for an environment where it’s never safe to assume it is ok to proceed at full speed and if someone pulls in or suddenly changes direction then any accident is simply their fault. From many of your posts on the forum it is abundantly clear that you are a very aggressive person with zero tolerance and understanding of any alternative view. From some of your posts on the forum it is also clear that you are a very aggressive driver. You have confirmed on many occasions that you drive at very high speeds and you don’t obey speed limits because they are stupid and often unnecessary. You’ve also claimed on more than one occasion that you can drive at these speeds because you are the best judge of what is a safe speed for a specific road at that time. I’d suggest you are a complete maniac with no thought for anyone else but yourself. I’ve formed this view based on everything you have posted in the time I’ve been on this forum. At least from the stuff I’ve actually read, most of the time I ignore it when I can see you are off on yet another one of your opinionated rants.

So these three accidents when you were in the right. Could you have avoided these accidents?

Especially if you were driving slowly and it wasn’t your right of way and Linas decided to not give way

Got an extended journey this coming weekend involving some motorways and dual carriageways. Hoping I won’t feel as disappointed as the last time I did a sizeable similar journey. I’m sure it’ll be comfortable and refined but I’m equally sure it won’t be that much fun. To the point where I’m even thinking about taking our other car instead which would provide much more fun and better economy too.

Linas wouldn't always be able to provide dashcam footage anyway because this would reveal the speed he drives around at, racing everyone and anyone who dares to get in his way. I’m sure he drives his car in the same way that he drives his keyboard. Looking out for anyone who does something he disagrees with so that he/she can be taught a lesson. 😉🤣🤣🤣 A bit tongue in cheek but possibly some element of truth in it!
