  1. Thanks guys. I think I will book my car in for a ‘pre-warranty expiry check’ two weeks before warranty expiry to have anything done that needs doing under the (old) extended warranty. I’ll check to determine options going forward. To be honest I might even run the car without any form of warranty from end July to the November service. Not sure I’d bring the next service forward but this would be an option nonetheless. Servicing every year / 10k miles is already slightly OTT with modern oils, manufacturing techniques, onboard monitoring and warning systems, etc, so I’m loathe to get a service done only 8 months and 6k miles after my last one.
  2. So my extended warranty runs out at end July and my next service is not until November. How do I opt in to the new offering? Am I automatically covered because car was serviced at a Lexus dealership last November? Do I have to pay something or register to remain covered? I had recently decided I would renew the extended warranty on the 2 for 1 basis but guess this isn’t an option now. I presume there is no breakdown cover element in the new offering?
  3. A T-Cut product will get rid of it. Follow the instructions and don’t go too mad and it will work. I had a dark blue NX which was particularly prone to this problem even when bird crap was left on for a very short period of time. T-Cut worked best for me.
  4. Hi John Any chance you could post up costs during this period. How much you’ve paid for the extended warranty versus the cost of the headlamps’ replacement. Not the servicing which is obvious anyway from your post. Cheers
  5. I’m still going to see if I can get my comfort access disabled by the dealership next time it is in. I’d much rather disable this than mess around with a charger and/or a jump device.
  6. Mine is rattle free and it’s getting on for 6 years old
  7. Surely not 50-60%! That sounds very high. I have no data to back this up mind so it could be.
  8. I’m sure that testing the air on would be one of the checks done to an approved Lexus. Poor show but at least it was quickly resolved to satisfaction
  9. The biggest plus when buying through a business is being able to offset the whole purchase price against tax in the year of purchase. Some incentive that. I’d be driving a BEV myself now if I was still self-employed. Likely an iPace mind.
  10. Thanks. Interesting 👍
  11. Are you keeping track of what you are spending on charging? Even just approximate / ball park figures.
  12. I’d be happy to have my smart entry permanently disabled to be honest. Always seemed an answer to a problem that didn’t exist to me.
  13. Thanks, Still not something I’d consider myself. I’d rather just pay for servicing as and when.
  14. We’ve bought about 26 cars in the past 20 years. For both me and for my wife. Too many. We’ve enjoyed some lovely cars but as we approach retirement we are intending to keep our current cars until they become uneconomical to keep and run. More so given our annual mileage has dropped so much. The only exemption will be a modern convertible in the garage when we do retire for those lovely sunny days we occasionally experience. Albeit not in 2021 so far! We do maintain our cars properly and have tried to pass this onto our kids. We have stopped replacing things just for the hell of it or because we fancy a new replacement though. Hence me questioning the spark plugs. I would have thought these would be mileage dependent and not age dependent given that they would age by usage cycles rather than by a specific time period. I do from time to time question the “I drive a Lexus because they are so reliable but I still pay for a warranty” thing. But of course £795 for two years which includes breakdown cover for me plus my wife is about as good value as you could get I think.
  15. Thanks. Good points. Will consider these. I always use credit cards when paying for goods and services to get that added protection. Bought some plants last year on line which were sub-standard when delivered and the supplier refused to play ball. The credit card company immediately refunded the money.
  16. Thanks. We intend on keeping the car for a long time so using a specialist for servicing has crossed my mind. Pretty sure I will renew warranty and maintain Lexus servicing for at least the next two years. Might well change my mind in 2 years time though.
  17. I tend to steer away from these John because from time to time I get bored with a car and change. No plans to do this now but I’m not prepared to lock myself into a service deal. I do have a slush fund that I use for servicing, tyres etc so it just comes out of that.
  18. Thanks. Yes, I feel the same way. Pretty sure I will renew the warranty. I do want to maintain the Lexus service history too.
  19. Thanks. Yes, saw that too. Still shown on the website for now.
  20. Oh and I have to consider whether to extend the warranty at end July. On paper it seems like a no brainer - £795 for two years which includes breakdown cover for me and my wife - but then again nothing has gone wrong (touch wood) in nearly 12 months. Nothing went wrong with a previous NX I had for 12 months too. A good price then and good value. But nothing much goes wrong with these cars. I get the peace of mind thing and this means something to me.
  21. The next service on my NX300H AWD Luxury is the rather expensive 60k / 6 year service. I have a few queries which I am hoping people can answer for me please. 1. Is Lexus essentials servicing available on a 5+ year old NX? An NX is not listed on the website for this servicing. What is the price for this service under the essentials servicing regime? 2. Spark plug replacement is part of this service and therefore a considerable part of the hefty cost. My understanding is that spark plugs are a mileage dependent replacement item rather than an age replacement. Am I right? If so, has anyone delayed spark plug replacement? My car will have only done less than 30k miles by the time this service is due. 3. Is there anything else done during this service that is a mileage as opposed to an age dependent replacement? 4. What are the differences if any between normal servicing and the essentials servicing? Hope you can help 😀
  22. Nice car! Hope you enjoy it. A good choice in my book 👍
