boot only going half way up

A case of RTFM I think 🤣 -
I find it best to answer the question I want to answer which is not necessarily the one I’ve been asked 😀

Yes Phil. I will be looking at all options for breakdown cover. We already enjoy travel insurance via our Nationwide account so definitely an option. Cheers 👍

Of course. Still has to be purchased though whereas it was part of the extended warranty.

Unless you regularly drive down a road that has a lot of small stones at the edge of the road. There was one road where I always picked up stones like this. It was the outside of a 90 degree corner on a country road that was regularly top dressed with stones. I often had to stick to the extreme left hand side of the road as other vehicles came round the corner and it just seemed to flick the stones up at the right angle to get stuck behind the near side disc. That said, I’m sure the garage that replaced the discs would have said if there were stones caught behind the disc. You’re probably right Ken, I doubt it is this.

Might be dry too suspension mount bushes? This would explain why it sounds worse with some steering lock on. Squirt a little silicone based grease into the top mounts inside the engine bay. This won’t be a permanent fix but it will show up if this is a possible cause because the noise will disappear for a while.

Could do John. The only way I’ve been able to clear this is to remove the wheel and then use a non metallic (wood, strong plastic, etc) lever of some sort to gently ease the backing plate away from the disc. The stones then fall out. Don’t damage the surface of the disc though.

I’m sat on the fence over this one at the moment. I was going to renew the extended warranty at end July for £795 on the 2 for 1 offer. Now I won’t because I can’t. I’ll now have to pay full price for servicing over the next two years plus shell out for breakdown cover for both of us. I suspect the total cost over a two year period for full price servicing with free Relax warranty plus paying for breakdown cover will be broadly similar to two essentials services and an extended warranty. But the warranty cover is quite different. Then again, I’ve often questioned the wisdom of buying extended warranties on a car that is deemed to be of good quality and reliability. I suspect I will stay with the brand for now and enjoy the ‘free’ warranty right up to the point where I have an issue that the Relax warranty won’t cover that the extended warranty would have covered. I say ‘free’ because it’s clearly not free, it’ll be funded from the full price servicing premiums for older cars. The cynical part of me believes that Toyota and Lexus had a good look at the warranty claims history and decided to come up with a free warranty scheme. This new scheme covers all areas of these cars that have a very low claims history but excludes the areas of these cars that have a higher claims history. Then wrap it up in some marketing bull**** speak as a free warranty and hey presto it’s a winner. Does anyone know if software updates are included in Relax? I guess they are where they are required to fix issues with areas of the car that are covered by Relax. I guess they are most definitely not for those areas of the car not covered.

A good job!

Time for a new NX?
paulrnx replied to AlanHi's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Mine has a sunroof and roof rails so I could physically fit roof bars and a box. That said, the sunroof does slide outside and above the roof when it slides back so best not to do this. Similar to making sure I don’t open a door at 70 or open a window in a car wash I suppose.- 17 replies

Worth calling a dealership to confirm whether there are any recalls for this car. Doubt it though. Software updates are not normally free unless done to remedy a problem either under warranty or perhaps as part of a tech bulletin or recall, as said above, if it ain’t broke ....

A stone or stones caught between the backing plate and the disc on one of the front corners perhaps?

Must admit this kind of issue would get under my skin after a period of time too. Hope you get it fixed.

2016 NX300H Lux Windscreen Replacement

To be honest, I did wonder how much of this is manufacturers covering themselves. -
2016 NX300H Lux Windscreen Replacement

When a windscreen is replaced the forward looking cameras must be aligned / recalibrated with the new screen. Autoglass told me this. It means the job having to be done in a depot rather than done by a mobile fitter. Fitting the replacement glass carefully has nothing to do with it I’m afraid. That said, I’m not sure what they actually do when they do this. The company who replaced a windscreen on my previous IS said they checked alignment. I wished I’d have asked what they actually do when they do this. -
Flat battery issues - IS300H - 2019

I’d have thought 100% charge was 13.2V based on each battery cell delivering 2.2V in a fully charged state? -
If quality audio means so much to you then I would think you’d be better off returning the car. I imagine it would improve things by fitting better quality speakers but you may not want to go down this route.

2016 NX300H Lux Windscreen Replacement

Call your local Lexus dealership and ask who they use for replacing windscreens. Most dealership use a local company they can trust. They will also know about alignment of cameras etc. You’ll also get a choice whether to use a genuine Lexus screen or a good pattern part. Seeing as they are used to replacing Lexus windscreens they’ll know which ones are ok. Not sure if you are having this done through your insurance company because some insurance companies insist on using Autoglass eg and may not allow you to go elsewhere. -
This sounds to me like the brakes aren’t being used enough. Could be that the pads have glazed a bit. I’d take it for a thrash somewhere and do a lot of braking from 60 to 10 (as mentioned above) and do a long journey and get everything hot and keep braking heavily. I’ve never had this in any hybrid Lexus I’ve owned (had 4) and never had it on a loan car either.

I’ve always thought the CX5 to be a lovely looking vehicle. The reviews say they are a great drive too.
