Insurance quotes aren’t valid for too long and prices for cover do fluctuate on a day to day basis so need to make sure you are comparing current quotes from everyone 👍

I think it’s possible. Car Magazine have recently tested the new Mirai and there was enough in the test to make me think it’s a decent car. If it sells in more numbers and the refuelling network improves then why not. Can’t help thinking it would be an ES if they did mind.

I’m not worried at the moment but to be honest I’d probably sell up if mine was cut out and taken. Of course by that time I’d have made a claim on my insurance so it will cost. So question is does this become common enough to convince me to sell up before that point in time. I saw petrol at 146.9 per litre today and this bothers me more 😀

And everyone is different. Doesn’t make one person better or worse than anyone else. To predict how you would feel afterwards had you had your cat stolen is impossible to do now when you believe it is just something that happens to others. I’m hearing from newspaper and other media reports that there are people out there who have had their cats stolen on more than one occasion. They wait for you to replace it and then turn up to steal it again. I’d reckon that would change most people’s opinion of owning a Lexus/Toyota. Like most things this is something that is out there but is hardly ever a concern until it happens or until insurance premiums start rising because these cars are statistically more likely to have their cars stolen. You do have a tendency to rubbish other people’s opinions on here though. There are other valid opinions than just your own you know. A lot of your posts do this and a fair percentage are seemingly to put people right as you see it. Like anyone, you cannot be right about everything. I would not consider doing anything with mine but this might well change if I were to start to hear of similar thefts in my local area or if insurance premiums started going through the roof. And that would be a double whammy because our cars would be worth less when selling. Not worried at the moment but I do think we’re probably at the early stages of this crime curve so it could get much worse.

I sympathise with your view. If I lived in a high risk crime area I think I might consider moving mine on. Life’s too short to sit there worrying about where you park and when. Being told not to worry is probably not going to stop or reduce your worry.

So wish I still had my very first car. A 1973 Hillman Hunter GLS. Quite a car in its day with a tuned Holbay engine with two twin-choke Weber carbs all fitted as standard. It was faster than an MGB GT. I sold it for £300 in 1983. Wish I’d kept it.

Yeah agreed, could be tyres. In this case, go to a place that has a Hunter 4-wheel alignment device. These are the best devices. Look up alignmycar.com. Also replace the tyres if problem still there after an alignment. Check all tyre pressures too and set them all to 2.2bar. if you are close, Wheels in Motion in Chesham are brilliant. Pop in, tell them the problem and they’ll work with you to find a solution I’m sure. I’ve used them once and they were brilliant and there are many car forum users that swear by this place. Hope you get a solution.

I think facelift cars are from 2017 Model Year onwards

I’ve owned four 3rd generation IS. Two 300h (2014 & 2019), a 2015 200t and a 2014 250. I never got great economy from the 200t. From memory this ranged, over a full tank and measured from the trip computer, from 30 to 34. Occasionally I saw high 30’s but never anything starting with a 4. The 2014 IS300H usually gave between 40 and 44 over a tankful again measured using the trip computer. Occasionally I saw 50+ on journeys where speeds were 30-50. I remember one 25 mile journey where I got 70+. Always ended up in the range 40 to 44 over a full tank though. The 2019 300h was about 2 mpg better per tankful than the 2014 version I had. Some of this may be my driving but there is no doubt that the facelift IS300H cars have better power delivery with more assistance from the battery/motor. I’m sure outright power and torque is no different but the delivery is better which in my experience led to better economy. Improvements made to the steering and suspension are also worthwhile with a bit more comfort but no loss of handling. The IS250 economy was pants and almost always averaged no better than 30. I’d reckon on you getting a good 10mpg better with an IS300H in like for like driving compared to your 200t. Possibly a bit more with a facelift car. You will notice quite a big performance in performance so you’ll need to drive a few and determine whether this is a price worth paying for better economy. Is better economy your #1 priority or does performance rank above this? I suspect from what you say that performance ranks high in what you want from a car. They are great cars though. To be honest, I only swapped my 2019 IS because I’d had two bird strikes which cost a bit to replace various front grilles (front is very low), and a buckled 18” alloy wheel (many water filled potholes where I live) and catching the underside of the car on some raised ironworks on a new housing development. I came to the conclusion it was the wrong type of car for what I need given where I live and what I use the car for. Otherwise I’d have kept it. I’ve gone on a bit, sorry, I reckon you’ll see a good 10mpg improvement and likely a bit more from a facelift car. You’ll lose some performance though. That said, there isn’t much wrong with an IS300H in Sport, especially a facelift version. Best way to tell a facelift version is they have no front fog lights. I think 😉

Goodyear Efficient Grip for me this time around. I mainly only ever consider Michelin and Goodyear tyres.

Just had four new Goodyear Efficient Grip SUV tyres fitted to my NX. After 1k miles they are superb. Very quiet and very comfortable, so much better than the OE Yokohamas that came off. Wet weather grip is night and day better as is grip in damp conditions. Dry weather performance is also massively better with a much better feel on initial turn in too. I really would recommend these tyres. I specifically wanted better wet weather performance with minimal loss of dry weather grip and low road noise.

So now we have the scrotes cutting out fairly worthless (to them) bits of metal because presumably they don’t know any better. Having inaccessible cats on an NX is now not the deterrent it appeared to be. I’d get a Lexus dealership to look at it too. I wouldn’t rely on a mechanic who clearly doesn’t know these cars.
