  1. If none of the actions on that seat are working I would hazard a guess that it is a supply problem and not the seat/switches themselves, as the movement is done via motors and these draw lots of current on initial movement ( especially if a person is sat on the seat, which 99.9% of the time they will be!) Along with any fuses I would expect some relays to be involved due to this high current draw. really need a circuit diagram for this and I can't help on that (at the moment) paul m.
  2. ""For me, I'd rather some sort of remote or time delayed fuel shut off."" Fuel Shut Off.....Naaaa Nice lump of Semtex ( other High Explosives are available) under the drivers seat would be my choice as I would'nt really want the car back after some toothless single syllable chemical head had ragged it!!! paul m.
  3. After checking the car is straight and sound then my theory is that every time a decent car changes hands then this is when a little bit of love and attention may be paid to the very minor niggles that may otherwise be allowed to slide by an owner who has had it some considerable time. paul m.
  4. Has your car been exposed to freezing temperatures recently and does the screen wash have a good dose of additive in it and not just water? As the wife's pump froze and split open your hose may have froze and split! Hopefully not... paul m.
  5. For some reason the rear wash/wipe fluid supply tube on my wife's old Mondeo had a joint in it above the 'B' post in the roof lining and it came adrift at some point and she complained that the rear wash/wipe had no fluid coming out. On further investigation I heard the fluid trickling down inside the 'B' post when operating the rear wash/wipe without the engine noise. Turns out this joint come adrift due to a new wash/wipe pump being installed in the front resivour and the pipe that fed the rear nozzle being pulled too much. so has your wash/wipe system been touched in any way recently? Just my two penneth worth! paul m
  6. I understand the car will/should run without an Aux belt but when the original belt broke when in use it may have damaged another component, a crankshaft posistion sensor for instance which will be essential for the car to run. Needs a closer inspection above just replacing the belt and try to find out why the belt broke in the first place perhaps it was aged or some physical contact occurred. paul m.
  7. Does this shed any light on the subject ( Haaa see what I done there!!!) "There is a few things you should do but I'm not going to" usually rings alarm bells for me but the vid shows the act of removing the lamps quite well! paul M.
  8. I thought you were gonna put one of them Juicy long sandwiches in your motor somewhere? HAAAAA!!
  9. Ford 'Quick Clear' or in USA 'Instaclear' https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quickclear
  10. I too have been underwhelmed by the boot illumination and was toying with fitting these somewhere left and right. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-COURTESY-LIGHTS-IS250-RX330-350-LS430-460-600-LED-18SMD-CANBUS-ERROR-FREE-/281994579840?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 paul m.
  11. Sounds like unmetered air entering the engine that the ECU cannot account for or control and therefore the erratic revs which you have. This maybe due to the recent spark plug job as this entailed removing the inlet manifold and disturbing the silicon gaskets/O rings beneath and if not perfectly sealed then the engine will draw air in this opening and cause erratic running. paul m.
  12. Go careful changing the cabin pollen filter if you get one as you need to have the vent flap in the correct posistion before trying to move it manually or it will break. Not really the weather for ragtops today, more like toboggans!!!! paul m.
  13. Exactly what I was thinking as soon as I saw the Headline in the topic list..... I personally would not taken any car that I owned ( or indeed my family's) into a garage automatic car wash ever since one ( car wash that is) made the local news about 35 years ago after some Herbert's tied a load of metal washers onto the strands of the revolving brushes over the weekend ( back in those days shops/ garages had very much reduced opening hours) and you can guess what the first car ( a ford Sierra sapphire) to go through the car wash on the Monday morning looked like afterwards!!!! paul m.
  14. Will that not possibly 'chew' the soft aluminium filter housing and leave unsightly marks after numerous uses? paul m.
  15. It came already and is nice and shiny ( as if that is gonna help anything but looks the part!) don't plan on getting under the IS anytime soon so it may be a while before this thread is concluded...........
  16. IIRC then there are Two cables going from door card handle to door itself and when I removed my door card to fit my PO-40 mirror folding module I used these chaps to prevent any scars from large flat screwdrivers for example. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12PCS-Plastic-Car-Radio-Door-Clip-Panel-Trim-Dash-Audio-Removal-Pry-Kit-Tool-Set/222033601610?hash=item33b23be44a:g:MOwAAOSw1LNZ3cpW also just found this on YooToob paul m.
  17. Fair point, so I am in fact as lucky as a Mexican farmer then! positive ( if there can be a positive here) is that it was only a quid!r just looked at the spec of that Laser 4880 tool and it is 64.5mm and 14 flutes, the same spec, so do you think it will not physically fit the IS metal housing or it is for plastic types only somehow? paul m.
  18. 'She' looks like a 'Keeper' all the best with your new friend! paul m.
  19. Splendid! Can't remember The last time I bagged a bargain! paul m.
  20. If you want a 'bar' to extend your socket wrench then you could try to find a 'friendly' looking scaffolder!!! And bung him a few beer tokens for a two/three foot bit of scaffold tube. Could come in useful for other jobs as well. Paul m.
  21. Ordered this yesterday from the 'Bay and hopefully it's the right one for my IS! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221859833552 I know it is not going to be SnapOn quality, more like SnapOff but for that giddy price inc del I thought it was rude not to! if it lasts half a dozen times ( before I lose it more like) then in my motoring world that is gonna be years for the amount of miles I clock up. cheers Paul m.
  22. Glad it's all sorted and didn't cost an arm and a leg via main dealer. paul m.
  23. That's acceptable then! I think if I was to sit still for a year and then get asked to sprint and work hard then something might fail to say the least! I still have the factory battery on my 2007 SE-L and recently treated it to a top-up of this; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classikool-500ml-Pure-Distilled-Water-Deionised-then-Distilled-to-Purity/311837043977?hash=item489aefad09:g:15YAAOSw4CFY3j5K so hopefully if not abused may last a good while yet. Paul M.
  24. So are you saying that your factory fitted original battery 'only' lasted four years?
  25. Spookily this topic has come up on a Ford forum I subscribe to... see post #10 here, http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/368234-battery-life/ and same retort "Noooooo" In post #11.. cheers Paul m.
