  1. +1 on choosing the Black leather, it is not going to show any let's say marks as quickly as say the Beige! And for me personally it looks more luxurious than the grey! Dunno if it's true but I'm led to believe that the black leather was the thickest and therefore more durable of all the colours! have you seen the pre-purchase tips here paul m.
  2. If you are sure that if you bypass the AC pulley the belt will not foul on any other parts then the way forward would be to determine the length of the new belt required by measuring the length around all the pulleys ( not AC obs!) in millimetres as aux belt serial numbers have the length in mm in there somewhere! Everything you wanted to know about polyvee belts here https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Belts-Multi-Ribbed-Poly-V-Belts/c4601_4791/index.html Paul m.
  3. I like your thinking there fella! You have decided to purchase a fantastic car ( not that I'm bias!) yes it may cost a bit more to run than some other cars out there but the sublime enjoyment from the pure luxury is great! Unless you are really really unlucky you should'nt be spending much on parts and you are gonna get a lot of car for your budget! Don't be put off by any cars you look at that have poor finish on the lacquer on the alloy wheels , there were cars getting their wheels changed under warranty because of this and sometimes more than once! Could be a good bargaining tool. you are right about the toys, my 11 year old 250 SE-L has got radar cruise, voice control of entertainment and realtime traffic SatNav!!! Paul M.
  4. +1 on the folding mirror modification, there does seem to be more than one option out there but I recommend getting the PO-40 hardware from the Aussie Guy ( sorry can't remember details but a search should bring up info!) the kit is well built and instructions and after support is available if you self install. I installed it to have a visual indication from afar to show that the car is indeed locked! paul m.
  5. With the belt removed there will be no power to the water pump (WP) and the Altenator (GEN) so you would not be able to physically drive the car very far without implications! Looks very tight if not impossible to by-pass the AC by using a shorter belt.
  6. That's not good!.... could it just be the electric clutch and can this be swapped out? Also can the engine be ran with a shorter aux belt that does not go over the AC pulley or is it physically not possible to do that on this engine? paul m.
  7. Praise indeed! Question ( as you have done 30k in this car now) I have heard that 6th gear on the 220 is quite a 'high' gear and coupled with a low revving (compared to petrol) engine does not really come into comfortable use until 80+ MPH, which in this country ( Gatso strewn!) could be costly!! So how do you find it? paul m.
  8. Riiiiiight.......do let us know what this is all about then after you have contacted the dealership. paul m.
  9. One thing I have heard is that 6th gear is pretty useless in this country in so far as you need really to be doing at least 80 MPH for it to be comfortable, have you found this? Paul m.
  10. gotta say he's right there then!, I am looking to get my flaky standard silver wheels refurbed and was toying with going away from the stock silver colour to a slight tint of black or gunmetal like finish. two reasons, it is less likely to show brake dust residue so noticably quickly and I feel the car deserves something a bit more than basic silver paint on alloy wheels! paul m.
  11. Are they the standard silver finish? as it looks like they have got an almost gunmetal like finish or is it the light of the pic? mine are like this (but without the damage!) paul m.
  12. Another minor, looks like the mileage is nearer to 55,000 than the 53,000 advertised! paul m.
  13. Do Not ever go in and buy anything over the counter at Eurocarparts , the price will be obscene ( as you found out!) Instead Go to the EuroCarParts website and they will have a discount code for a % Off ( can be anything from 12% upto 50%) If you sign up to the NewsLetter option by email then the discount codes will be sent to you, offers vary and change often with certain parts having special offers at certain times, sometimes the "Flash" code with 50% off is tor a couple of hours only. paul m.
  14. Welcome, looks good ( but then I'm a bit bias) I looked at a couple of black 250's when shopping for mine and I came to the conclusion that when it's clean nothing beats it but drive it and it don't take long to show the dirt. I have had black cars in the past and was not over keen on cleaning cars at the time but now I have the time and space I went and got a silver one!!! Which is very forgiving when it comes to dirt. I expect that you have seen this aide memoir for pre-purchase and although these are faults being detected and overcome by forum members/owners you are by no means expected to get any or all of them during your ownership! paul m.
  15. Welcome to the fold, so after 3 weeks of ownership you are reside to the fact the the petrol might be better suited to your needs or you don't want diesel/EGR problems? cheers Paul m.
  16. Boot Lid hydraulic Struts do deteriorate over time and loose their strength, if your boot lid falls from about 1/3 height and slams closed very un-Lexus like then they are worn. Not really a deal breaker but OEM struts are over £100 from dealer or very good after market ones ( straight swap) are about £50 pair (2017) Paul m.
  17. With ref to this hose that was the cause of your EML codes, do you know if it was this hose shown in this video ( At 2min 40 seconds) as it looks to be easily dislodged and this could go un-noticed once you have removed the engine cover! paul m.
  18. have a look on ebay, with the serial No of your old disc contact seller and check compatabilty. I recently got this ( for £29!) eBay item number: 292442412845 paul m.
  19. Yes, Deffo tell your insurance company about the ( lack of ) quality as I'm sure they will be more receptive and in effect they are sort of paying for this job! Paul m
  20. There was a Tech Bulletin regarding 'Dash Rattle' so if the car has not had the 'Air Bag' recall done yet ( you can check with a Lexus dealer or MOT check on .GOV website) ask about the rattle when having the airbag done, it is a couple of plastic clips that will require ordering in. paul m.
  21. Done some googlizing and it turns out that Apple did not allow the IPhone 4 to 'push' contacts via Bluetooth. So It's not my or the car's fault.
  22. Must be the facelift 'allowing it' to happen then, But I have an IPhone 4 ( Daughters hand me down!) and can't see and way to transfer the contacts in the phone! Anyone have any tutorial's so to speak? paul m.
  23. It only clocked 12k in those 'missing' 7 mot years so was prob laid up, but the mileage recorded at 23 May 2007 don't stack up! Could just be a error on some part but hopefully can be confirmed if the cat has paperwork for that period. paul m.
  24. Shame, rest of car is prob peachy! Since getting into Lexus ownership and doing lots of homework/research for months before purchase I came to the conclusion that the worst thing Lexus ever done was put a D on the boot lid. Again shame really as I reckon they were running with the flock when there was a glut of heavy oil in the world and manufactures were obliged/urged via tax incentives to have a DERV version in their brochures. I have always been in the mindset that Diesel engines are not suited in small road vehicles, but more like generators and ships! ideally suited to constant revs with constant load ( heavy) for prolonged duration ( hours/days, weeks even) so putting one in a school run never to get muddy 4X4 is not suited to say the least and I do think diesel has had it's day in the small/mid size non commercial vehicle. hopefully you will stick to the Lexus brand because you know they really want to do their upmost best for the end user! cheers Paul m.
