  1. Started my 250 yesterday, first time for a while ( about 6 weeks) and got a ' Check VSC ' warning along with too many lights for comfort. So turned it off and started it again...all fine and dandy now with no money lights on. So today connected up TechStream and had a look to see if anything was awry, can't confess to being an expert in the use of this software and always double check before I 'click' on anything. Like I said no lights on now but did find this error reported and took a screenshot below, Question 1, why is the MIL not currently on if this error is present like it says it is? Question 2 do I really have a faulty wheel speed sensor as one screenshot is stating RL And the error ( C0210 ) states Rear Speed Sensor RH Circuit. Question 3 A Rear Right speed sensor can be got for about £25 Here but doing some reading owners have replaced this sensor only for fault to still be present! Question 4 the line in the screenshot that states 'number of ignition on' = 31, is that the number of times the car has been started since the'fault' first occurred?
  2. Just tried looking at that 'Tutorial' and like mentioned in the thread there is only a 'before' & 'after' pic! And no others? "a bit of work to put the Lexus logo back" you say? What if you have ACC and this 'logo' is now the forward radar unit how much work then if even doable? paul m.
  3. Don't forget to flick it back.........
  4. Apparently not just died but includes seriously injured also, takes some doing when 'we' end users smash the living day lights out of them every which way possible! paul m.
  5. Don't shoot me I'm only the messenger.... http://www.policeuk.com/forum/index.php?/topic/18000-sitting-in-traffic-with-brake-lights/ paul m.
  6. Different strokes for different folks with regards to Warranties....I decided to buy one ( if not the most at this price bracket) of the most reliable cars available and the thought of having to get a warranty on it sort of undermines its reputation as such, that's just me though I'd rather pay my way when required as opposed to relying on my problem being included in the terms and conditions which it may or may not when called upon. Need to stand in front of a few and take them out for a spin, don't be afraid to request a long test drive ( even offering to put fuel in it) and not just a tour round the block! Paul m.
  7. +1 on the 'inside' surface of the wheel being more corroded when the outside doesn't look too bad. When the tyre fitter replaced the four valves on mine he had trouble fixing the balance weights on the inside due to the lacquer coming off in 'hand fulls'. Paul M.
  8. Link ( until it dies!) https://groceries.asda.com/product/oils-lubricants/castrol-castrol-magnatec-stopstart-5w30-a5-4l/910002798997 paul m.
  9. Don't forget to check if the boot lid slams down very un-Lexus like if let go from about the1/3 to 1/2 open position, if it does then that's another £50 for a pair of hydraulic struts, dead easy to DIY fit though. paul m.
  10. With regard to the wheel refurb, mine need doing actually and I got a price of £190 + VAT so far. So If you travel all that way and the car is 'the one' would you not want to take it there and then as opposed to coming back again after the wheels have been refurbished? You might want to get some prices where you live, could be cheaper! paul m.
  11. I got my 250 from BMC and recently when trying to check tyre pressures I found that the after market aluminium hexagonal type dust caps on the tyre valves were siezed on solid, pliers on rubber valve stem and 10mm socket on dust cap, still no movement! Had to go to a garage and get four new valves fitted ( wheels off, tyres off, old valves out, new valves in, tyres on, wheels balanced, wheels on. £40 inc valves!) so if you can't un-screw the tyre valves then that's £40 right there! paul m.
  12. Question for John. Am I right to assume that the interior picture you posted above is in fact your 250? I'm guessing it is as it is a RHD and not a picture from the LED seller as I would expect they would be LHD. So the question is, you appear to have the clear lens covers ( as opposed to the stock red) in the lower front door card lights, Can you please tell me where you sourced these and the part numbers or what other Lexus models may have had these fitted? Thanks Paul M.
  13. Yes I found that the small festoon LED for the boot light dosen't sit in like you would expect it to. So using a pair of long nose pliers I gently re-shaped the spring steel tab with the hole. So it was 'back' a bit, but go careful as it is spring steel and any major bending may snap it! paul m.
  14. Ordered 4 April, Del today, the 18th. Estimated del was 13-18th April so spot on. paul m.
  15. Got the LEDs delivered today and as the sun was shining decided to go for it! Interior vanity lights ( under sun visors N/S & O/S ) were first and went in very easy apart from 1st LED was obviously inserted the wrong way round and failed to illuminate! Straight away I thought I had bought a bag of duds! But upon reversal Bingo, brightness! Managed to open the plain panel on overhead light fixture with my fingernail to expose the two JIS* (we know they are not Pozi-Drive or Philips thanks to James May!) screws and used my JIS screwdriver purchased from a seller in Japan! Swapped out all three lamps and tested before refitting in reverse order. Rear passenger seating area overhead light was the most akward as we know rear seating is a bit cramped and working over your head is not the easiest plus the bezel on the light fitting was ( as you'd expect ) a super tight fit. Next ( not looking forward to these ) was the door rear view mirror cases puddle lights. Pushing mirror glass all the way IN at the top to enable the bottom edge to come forward made some very expensive sounding noises! Then Pulling bottom edge mirror glass out using as many fingers as I could get under there worked fine and released the bottom two fixings and the top two were then 'un-hooked'. Didn't really want to dis-connect all the small spade electrical connections on the mirror glass so wrapped in a clothe and let hang. Next removed the four screws* and the two halves of the mirror housing were removed for a deep clean along with the clear bezel for the puddle light ( in was a bit green around there with algae). All went back together fine ( having no extra bits leftover when it all goes back is a good sign) pushing mirror glass back into place maked that un-nerving sound again..right other side now then.... The light lens in the two front doors low level lights on my 250 are red in colour and changing to LEDs is not going to make a remarkable difference I don't think but put them in anyway! Apparently clear lens are an optional part if sourced from other Lexus models, There was two extras in the pack and I don't know if it's OK or not but I have fitted these into the rear reversing light position. . The following pic is of two I have left over after fitting all the others as when I checked it looked as though the rear number plate lights are already fitted with LEDs? As these seem very directional I can't think where they should have been fitted.
  16. Haaaa, I see what you done there! Also, Vincent's* silver IS250 has just been dinged as he was on the phone to a prospective buyer for about £7k. * A character in Eastenders apparently, so my wife tells me.......... paul m.
  17. Not mine but looks expensive, no mention to how large it was. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/886311-hit-a-deer-with-my-07-is350.html paul m.
  18. Fingers crossed it was that simple a fix for you. paul m.
  19. Just looked and nearest dealership is 5.4 miles from my house so don't expect any fuel but they might just do it for all anyway! Taking it in with fuel light on ( approx 2.4 Gall / 11L remaining) might help! paul m.
  20. Well the powers that be have finally tracked me down and I have been summoned to appear! Not to keen as I have presently Not got a noise of any kind eminating from the dashboard and will be most peeved if I have one afterwards! Passenger AirBag you say? well I can count the fingers on one hand the number of times I have had any passengers in my 250 since owning it Last August!
  21. Seeing you have TechStream to hand check this recent thread on error P0171 (too lean) I know this is not your fault but it has the details for the voltage specs for the O2 sensors https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/112998-system-too-lean-error-codes/ in particular this post https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/112998-system-too-lean-error-codes/?do=findComment&comment=1029658 paul m.
  22. Here is a basic explanation of the P0172 error code for Lexus with some areas to investigate but the symptom of excessive fuel consumption doesn't really apply to a 250 I guess!!!!! https://www.autocodes.com/p0172_lexus.html paul m.
  23. I got my 250 last August and it had Lexus service history for the last 10 years, I do not have an extended Lexus warranty or any other type of warranty and from now on the car will be (regularly ) serviced by myself! I have never had a warranty on a car in all my years of motoring ( since 1980) and don't intend buying one after getting what is one of, if not the most, reliable cars I know of! In my motoring lifetime I have never managed to actually sell a car on after I have had it, they have either been scrapped due to mot repairs outweighing value (Vauxhall Senator) , Traded in through Gov 'Scrappage' scheme ( Ford Mondeo) or written off due to others inability to Drive to the rules! (Another Mondeo!) so working on that theory If it is upto me then this 250 should last a fair old while and like the others I don't intend selling it but using to the end of its days, so main dealer servicing would not be viable ( for me anyway) from now on. you can juggle the figures all day long and even put some money in a jar for if/when it needs repairing but it all depends on your ethos on these situations and I for one do not indulge insurance/warranty companies and will just pay my way when required. this is just my viewpoint and each to their own but at the end of any insurance/warranty period if Nothing has gone wrong then that premium payment would irk me somewhat. paul m.
  24. When fitting a Bosch S4 026 into a IS250 ( it does fit contrary to all the parts seller sites saying it doesn't ) the black plastic shroud with the battery temp sensor probe fitted on one side is let's say a 'snug! Fit but like I said it does go and if you have not refitted this sensor then it prob could be the reason for your battery charge warning light showing. When charging a Lead/Acid wet battery the ambient temperature has a large bearing on what the rate of charge should be. Most cars have a basic charging system that will be a compromise on this temperature requirement but if ( and I expect it has) the Lexus has got a 'smart' charging system then this temp probe will be critical in relation to the battery/charging system. As for the MOT aspect then I can't find any mention of battery charge warning light anywhere! paul m.
