  1. You say "everything is hidden in menus" does this mean you have found the service history somewhere? paul m.
  2. Scone......
  3. a couple of posts up the OP put this "" A specialist (Mr Exhaust in Reigate) has confirmed that the exhaust is fitted correctly and this is a manufacturing issue. It will need modification to make it straight. I've been quoted circa £250 to do this and it will come with a 2 year guarantee. ""
  4. I have recieved a reply from this seller as I contacted them with a view to needing an exhaust sometime in the future for my 11 year old 250. I directed them to the pics posted above and asked about the alignment issue, they say they are made in a 'jig' so either the 'jig' has gone 'out' or it is operator error, but the blame is going to Postman Pat! Quote.. I have the listing open so that people can see all the feedback (good or bad). The exhausts are made in a jig so that everything is correct However due to the size and design it is possible for a knock to put the system out of line slightly and once in the hands of the couriers I have to trust that they will treat them well. If there is a problem with the fit a replacement exhaust once the bad one has been returned. Kind regards
  5. I can see the logic in this as if you flush/clean a dirty aged engine that may actually have a piece of crud somewhere that is sealing a failing gasket/seal then that may actually leak afterwards. But in a relatively new/clean engine then unless the product used has any effect on rubber/silicon gaskets or seals then I can't see this problem occurring and on going used may keep the engine like new! paul m.
  6. See the letter I recieved here still haven't got round to booking it it yet!!!!!!

  8. The "Self-Fixing" is only available on the LS 400 I am afraid! Shame..I can see that as a top selling point. As for the battery charging situation, I know it is a pita to physically remove batteries from cars ( manual handling with a glass back!) but if you do have reason to externally charge a car battery then it is best to dis-connect the Earth/Negative connection ( unless you have insulated spanners of course) because if there is any slight current draw from the car ( ie interior lights or any after market permanently connected kit ie Dash Cam) then the battery charger will interpret this demand as a demand for the battery itself and up the charge level/rate which could do damage ( cook or boil ) to the battery! paul m.
  9. When you charged your battery did you dis-connect it from one or both of the cars main battery connections? if you did then this would of in effect done a 'soft' reset of any/all electronic components that contain volitile memory chips. In the process of Removing the fuse mentioned this also done a 'reset' of any components fed via that fuse. you can't beat a good old fashioned 'Turn it off and then turn it back on again' as a no tools no cost first action when things don't do what they are supposed to. 'Self Fixing'....never seen that in any brochure! paul m.
  10. I do not have a Derv Lexus but the concensus is that to lessen or reduce (not eliminate ) the problem of the EGR system getting clagged up is to avoid 6th gear ( unless you are doing more than 80-90 mph!) and to ensure that the engine is used, let's say spirited, on a regular basis ie use a lower gear for a bit longer to rev the engine slightly higher to give it a bit of a 'blow through' Derv owners will (hopefully) explain their EGR cleaning regime and I gather the process is not that complicated. Some may advocate additives but I doubt that this will be a 'cure all' and the problem of having to clean system manually will still exists. paul m. just re-read your post and this journey you speak of is only on Saturdays! So prob not so detrimental, how is the car 'normally' used on a daily basis?
  11. 'Bolts'....Please don't tell me you're gonna be getting your drill out!!!! paul m.
  12. Have you contacted the seller and shown them that pic to see what they 'think'? paul m.
  13. Tried this a while ago and it Does Not work on my 2007 250! paul m.
  14. I know it is a pita when doing the job, dirty hands and you just want to get it done, but some pics along the way would be welcome, we all like pics don't we? best of luck Paul m.
  15. Jumping back up this thread a bit but if the car was a rental with 'Hurts' for example then it probably won't state 'Hertz' on the V5 and it will probably show a name of a holding company like 'Allianz' or something! paul m.
  16. Just checked and @ CP4Less ( with the DFS discount! Ie Sale on all the time!) the pump comes out at £80.78... But the pic does not show the Dowty type ( rubber bonded onto metal ) Gasket or the two 'O' rings. I would like to think that it would come with these as it is a Aisin branded pump but I would check with them first. 'weak spot', I would say yes, something to lose sleep over, no. paul m.
  17. Before going down the route of replacing, is a repair an option as these OEM are top quality and can last a very long time so have you actually seen failed location and had a second opinion perhaps! Just a thought as I know most garages would choose replace over repair all day long but they ain't paying are they? paul m.
  18. Update... Can confirm that checking the Air Conditioner ECU in daylight I now get values of 80 & 70 for the driver & passenger solar sensors respectively with no DTC codes showing whereas at night when the values were 2 & 1 codes B1421 & B2424 were reported as Current. hopefully this post will help in any future searches for these codes. paul m.
  19. 'Sounds nice though' does this mean that it is a bit noisier than the stock exhaust or as you got the car with it fitted you cannot tell. I ask as some after market exhaust do sound a bit ' throatier' and to start with it may be appealing but after a while it can become slightly annoying on what after all is a bit of a serene car so to speak. Paul m.
  20. If you have a 'weeping' water pump then it is unlikely to fail catastrophically, the amount of coolant lost might increase and it may get noisier as the lube in the bearing might get washed out but you will have time to organise this job for sometime in the future. a genuine OEM pump inc Gasket & 'O' rings can be got here for less than £100 ( could be a lot less as it has Best Offer!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-LEXUS-IS220-IS250-GS300-GS350-GS450H-WATER-PUMP-16100-39436/253288877255?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 And if you have and are handy with some spanners then put the kettle on and grab some hobnobs and watch this great 'how to' video on replacing the 250 water pump. This is the route I will be going down if/when my water pump shows signs of failing on my 11 year old 250. Also I would invest the money saved and get the genuine Lexus coolant. this guy has also got a video on doing the spark plugs ( reccomended at 60,000 miles) that at Lexus will see you not get any change out of £600 when the plugs ( Genuine ) can be got for less than £80!!!! 250 Essential Servicing prices here, but no mention of Plugs, not even in Major Service Schedule. price for a Battery is not extortionate!
  21. Everyday's a school day, and like I said I can live with that sort of 'error', paul m.
  22. Update... Went out just now ( 10pm) and reset the C0210 and then went for a 'drive cycle' as they say, upon return when checking with TechStream yes the C 'error' is no longer showing. :) but, and there is always a but, now have two new errors showing in the Air Conditioner section!!!!!! Namely B1421 & B2424 reporting as 'Solar Sensor Circuit Passenger & Driver side respectively. Right, bit of googling later and it turns out that if you check/monitor this ECU in very reduced ambient light (Darkened garage or 10 O'Clock at night!) then the solar sensors will report out of normal range and consequently an error code appears. Pheww that's the sort of errors I like dealing with! This is what put my mind at rest, but will obviously check again when (if) the Sun comes out! https://www.clublexus.com/forums/maintenance/360878-any-ideas-about-these-error-codes.html https://www.obd-codes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1540 And https://www.justanswer.com/lexus/1jq95-hi-lexus-ls430-year-2004-i-recently-purchased.html paul m.
  23. Thanks guys, I too was hoping it was just a hiccup as it was fine after the initial start up. I will go back and reset so I have a clean starting point and obviously keep an eye on things. note: one thing I did do recently was retro fit LED lamps for the interior and boot area but I don't recall starting the engine back then as it did not take too long and I am always cautious about battery drainage with car doors open for a long time ( hopefully not fitted out with low draw LED's everywhere I can relax). I can't see how this might remotely connected to the C0210 error but hey fingers crossed. it's gonna get a run out on Sunday as I am taking my 19 year old son to Mallory Park for a Super Car Track Day. paul m.
  24. Anyone 'owning up' to abandoning J50 CPH in that clip with their supermarket parking skills, I can see it all started to go wrong after D6 LBG!! sorry pet hate of mine..... paul m
  25. If you remove shelf in glovebox and then remove panel at back of glovebox you will ( if controls are in 'Recirculate') be able to see paper filter element, if you turn off recirculate you will see a cover/flap move over and cover the filter, the mechanism that works this is easily broken if you try and open it manually or force it open to get to the filter. paul m
