Just checked back and this is the set I got, cheaper than stated above, only about £25 in the end but fills the car interior with nice pure white light after fitting as opposed to the mixture of LED and tungsten in the original fittings. ebay item no 270785553913 paul m.

Might be a good time to 'upgrade' all the interior lamps to LED's that give out a purer white light! complete sets ( about 12 lamps ) can be had for about £40-50 iirc. paul m.

Have you tried pouring a jug/watering can over the exterior sensor and watching the operation that way ( bearing in mind the wiper system does take into account vehicle speed when operating) paul m.

Disconnecting the - ( Negative or Earth) terminal on the battery for approx 10-20 mins will allow any volitile memerory devices in the vehicle to be reset to their default state. This will affect the one touch system on the electric Windows/Moonroof for example and they will have to be re-learned ( is that a word?) Some cars have a security code requirement for the audio equipment when the power is interrupted but Lexus do not, so no worries on that front. one thought, is the sensitivity adjustment of the auto-wipers making a difference in any way? paul m.

Before getting into swapping any parts I would make sure the sensor is clean and do a battery reset to start with. paul m.

If using a split rubber boot then I reccomended fitting the new boot to the shaft Before you play with the failed boot and get grease everywhere, when you are happy the new boot has bonded fully and satisfactory then cut away the old boot and slide up the new one! This is assuming of course there is room on the shaft, not sure on the IS250 as its the rears but all the FWD cars I have done have had quite long drive shafts! apologies for the 1970's P0rn music, but like this... paul m

I can't say for sure but you do need to check coolant level is good before every use if you now know you probably have a failing coolant pump. If it is a slight leak from the pump shaft seal then it may go on for a long while like this or if you are unlucky it may fail big time tomorrow. genuine coolant is red in colour and a leak from around pump shaft area will show up as a pink stain or crusty deposit. if doing the pump change yourself then check out this how to video.

Genuine part is £135 but same part can prob be had for about £100 if searched, but make sure it is supplied with the metal/rubber gasket. The reason I ask is because as far as I am aware the OEM Panasonic is not available aftermarket in Europe, and I would like to know what battery ( because Lexus do not make batteries) they are prepared to supply as a main dealer part. paul m.

With regards MOT and Batteries then the only thing that is checked is security and integrity. ie that it is securely fixed and is not leaking any fluids. paul m.

If you do still have the OEM Panasonic fitted then it should have a date stamp on the top. mine was dated 04/07/2007

Do you still have the OEM factory fitted black top/clear sides Panasonic battery in your car ? If so then as it is coming up to 10 years old then it had done quite well in the scheme of things ( all that electrical kit in a SE-L would kill a lesser battery in no time). Mine lasted just over 10 years and was OK one day and Click Click Click the next, so treat her to a Bosch (about £80-90 and all should be good for another 4-5 years) Check out this thread from last year that covers all you need to know about battery replacement for the 250.

My friend who owns a MOT authorised garage workshop said that if the car fails on a dangerous then they will inform owner of the situation but at the end of the day he said he don't want the car sitting in his garage while the owner decides what to do with it. paul m.

I know that if you are that way inclined you can go into asda ( other retailers are available!) and buy a 12" Chefs Knife and use it for the wrong reasons! Are you sure that there is not any air in the system. Air will compress and it sounds like it is with the first pedal push and then the second won't compress the air any more and the hydraulics work. Paul m.

+1 on loosening the bleed nipple method for various reasons, 1 it periodically ensures the nipple is not siezed! 2 if the flexi brake hose is suitable clamped then fluid cannot be 'pushed back into master cylinder' 3 it allows a small amount of brake fluid to be removed ( master cylinder will therefore need topping up afterwards) and it will be the fluid that has been living and working in the most hostile environment and exposed to extremes of temperatures so this will be a good thing. paul m.

Screw thread 'G' clamp or 'Kwlk Clamp' will work fine but what ever you use do it real slow, there is no rush needed in this task and although I have heard of problems 'pushing the fluid back into the master cylinder' causing seals to 'flip' and then braking system problems, I personally never had any problems but it might be down to doing it sloooooow!
