  1. Please don't get the DERV version as I'll you'll be back writing in another section of this forum a lot! If you go for the petrol (250) you won't be under the bonnet half so much but one thing is to check the cost of VED ( Road Tax) of the Auto and Manual versions even though they have the same engine 2.5 V6 the manual has got different class of emissions and the tax is eye watering! paul m.
  2. UPDATE.........(sort of!) contacted the seller of Sat Nav DVD's and got the following response.... Hi there, this item have only few new roads, but new version should be soon, because this is not final version. Regards Reply Your previous message Hi, I have actually got this disc (2017-18) in my IS250 and upgrade it every year when a new version is released, but Do you know if the updates for this map are being discontinued? Ie is this going to be the last version available.? Thanks Paul m.
  3. You're gonna need something like this and best use the 'Big Nut' on it as opposed to the 3/8 square drive hole!
  4. Are they possibly distance markers ie 100M or 500M for example? Gonna say it before someone else does...RTFM! paul m.
  5. This is where I have got my sat nav DVD's in the past and indeed sadly it looks like '17-'18 (E1G) is the latest they have for the Gen3,Gen5 whereas for the other systems have they '18-'19's listed😩 https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/2018-lexustoyota-gen35-tns600700-e1g-e24-sat-nav-map-update-disc-470-p.asp Paul m.
  6. Put your reg number into EuroCarPats website and checkout the 'Denso' wipers that would have been factory fit from Lexus Factory (Lexus don't make wiper Blades!) paul m.
  7. Each window will need 're-setting' otherwise they will not have 'one touch' and will only work on each respective door switch and not from the drivers position. The factory fit audio equipment should not need a code and if fitted sat nav should sort itself out. paul m.
  8. Without being rude but are you sure that the ones you have are genuine, the reason I say this is because there are so many aftermarket clips out there and these cars tend to 'get through them' that they may have been swapped out previously. paul m.
  9. If it was me I Would now disconnect the 12V Vehicle battery and start from a known reset point, all very clever/sensitive are the electronics in these motors!
  10. My manual does indeed have instructions in the 'Window' section about "When the 12V battery has been disconnected " But nothing in the 'Moonroof' section!
  11. +1 on trying a reset first before worrying about motors ( ££££££'s) My Sun(Moon)Roof on my IS 250 was not behaving properly after replacing the battery last year and although the window reset procedure is prominent in the manual ( page 45 in mine!) the Sunroof reset is not in the sunroof section (page 47) I can't remember the procedure exactly but it was something like holding the control knob down for 10 seconds? paul m.
  12. Saddo that I may be but I love sitting down and 'reading' through owners manuals and the Lexus ones are real Tomes, especally the Navagation Manuals! Paul m.
  13. For boring I read 'less troublesome' and in my world troubles = £££'s so long live (Technical) bordom ! Someone mentioned the other day about buying a Lexus and the fact that it never came with a folder full of reciepts for previous maintaince & repairs, until it was pointed out that it was'nt probably missing just that the car ain't had to have any work (other than regular servicing in the history book) done! says it all really. Paul M.
  14. If they contain LED's that provide the light source then they will be polarity dependant. Ie if the mechanic provided 12v across the input wires then there is a 50/50 chance of it working! paul m.
  15. I recently came across a article about car insurance paid for by the mile the car is used, the company is called " By Miles" and when I put on my details it came back with a base price of £150 per year for the car and then an addition 3p per mile traveled ( monitored via a OBD module) but with a max charge of 150 miles per day ( £4.50) so any miles over this daily cap are not charged. paul m.
  16. So.....just been on ECP site and using their "BLACK FRIDAY" discount code ( biggest ever sale , in their words) brings the price of 6 plugs down to £115.01... Maze in, I'd better checkout soon!!!!
  17. 50% Off...Whoopy Doo.... With a list price of £29.49 I'd want more than 50% off.... £29.49 X 6 = £176.94 - 50% = £88.47. And these can be got from LexusBirm for £79.99 every day... As posted by 'Which' in today's press concerning 'Black Friday' deals, some 'so called' deals are in fact not what they seem, 50%+ off of an inflated price is not really a bargain to the consumer. John Lewis have in fact sold some so called deals cheaper many times in the last 6 months! Be careful out there bargain hunting. paul m.
  18. £75! Aaahhhh Diesel you have.... Gonna cost about that just for the Plugs on a Petrol!!! paul m.
  19. I'd try giving it a coating of Tabasco and see if that is a deterrent! paul m.
  20. Well done that man, I do envy you and all the best with your new toy! paul m.
  21. I for one will never put any plugs other than the OEM (Denso) and only sourced from a highly reputable seller ( namely Lexus ). The thought of saving £20,£40 or even more by putting any other sourced plugs into the heart of my V6 makes me shudder when there are so many 'fake' branded plugs out there, the idea of a plug letting an Earth electrode come away scares me. Besides you will prob only change the plugs once. paul m.
  22. Yes, maintenance free chain, one of the big pluses for me personally over a rubber cam belt! paul m.
  23. +1 on all the above info ( especially not turning without moving!) but for sure your next course in logically solving this abnormal behaviour definitely should be to get the cars steering geometry checked/adjusted, this should be done periodically anyway even if no symptoms are apparent to prolong the life of the tyres for a start as these will be one of the first to show abnormal conditions. note: a full alinement should include the rear wheels also, so don't let a centre just 'Track the Front end'' paul m.
  24. Remember that if you have used 'Active Cruise Control' for a long time and then use 'Manual Cruise Control' then keep your wits about you as you might forget to brake when coming up behind a slower vehicle... Don't ask me how I know this!!!!!! paul m.
  25. Good result for you there then, could have been a lot worst I guess, imagine giving it to Lexus and saying fix this please (£££££'s) Agreed electrical components do age/wear and not necessarily with use, I see you got nearly 120k under your belt and hopefully I don't encounter this problem any time soon with my 40k but It's the age thing that may be more pressing as I read on the LS section there are problems with capacitors 'bleeding out' and failing on ECU's as these cars are now over 30 years old! paul m.
